These birds are my favorites, right behind crows. They look amazing and are very interesting. Small fun fact: in spanish, their name is quebrantahuesos, aka bone breaker, which I personally find really cool and badass
Always when they appear in the sky in the Alps, everybody stands still and just watches or takes pictures. It's like an attraction. They're so big its special.
Bearded vulture facts: it's also a mythological creature (Huma/homa) in Persian mythology, it's believed that if they fly above you and their shadow falls on you, you'll have your destiny changed and you'll get good luck, wealth, etc..
Saadi praises the Huma bird(the bearded vulture), for its noble behavior of feeding on bones without harming any living creatures. همای بر همه مرغان از آن شرف دارد که استخوان خورد و جانور نیازارد "The Huma bird is honored above all birds For it feeds on bones and harms no creature."
These are really impressive birds! And just today I heard of a program for resettlement of bearded vultures in the Alps, because they got extinct. Let's hope the young couple from Spain will come together and make their habitat richer - once they got to know each other.
@@AnimalFactFiles Supposedly, we came up with this name because the bird is a scavenger (vulture) but it has the elegance of an eagle or is as formidable as an eagle. Something like this.
@@paulgirtu2463 Really good point! The original video only mentioned bearded vultures, so that's what we went with, but I absolutely see that. Thanks so much for pointing that out!
Great stupidity nearly wiped out this magnificent creature. The same could be said also about the red kites which were in abundance in Switzerland! Sadly, I have yet to meet anybody in Switzerland who have any interest in bird photography!

And people wonder why the bearded vulture is hands down my favorite bird (aside from the fact that they remind me of velociraptors)
They're amazing!

OH yeah that IS really cool and badass!!
Bearded Vulture? Oh, you mean Bone-Eating Dragon Birds? Yeah, I've heard of them.
Boi these guys are edgier than the corner of a metal bed frame you always hit and scrape your shin on.
Felis omfg you hit your shins on that too D:

What I love about modern raptors like this one is that u are literally looking at the eyes of the Velociraptor.

Aww that would be great!
I love these birds so much.
They look badass and they freaking eat bones.
Favourite bird ever
They've also been known to pick up tortoises, dropping them from great heights.
What's strange is that here in Greece, their official name is "Γυπαετός" which means Vulture and Eagle together. Look it up.
That's so cool! Thank you for sharing!!

I love this. I can definitely appreciate that about them. They're fantastic birds. =) Also a little scary...
In Hungarian they are called Szakállas Sas-Keselyű, which translates to bearded eagle-vulture.
In croatoan they are called kostoberina
That's not a bird that's a dinosaur.
A Non-Avian Dinosaur! 🙂
We're gorgeous birds, yes. :>
Holy fug best episode ever
Unlike Other Vultures who has a featherless head
Bearded Vultures are the only vultures to have head feathers
Birds The Word
Great, interesting info on an awesome bird! many thanks! Subscribed :-)
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for joining our crew! 😄
I love the little gremlin feel the thumbnail gives.
Almost looks like it's grinning 😊
I wonder how a diet including bones would be for humans.
I felt like we would need a whole new dental structure.
@@AnimalFactFiles you could grind them or pressure cook them into jelly.

I call bagsy that any bloke who does that will cark it or have a gammy gullet in the first long shot....but then again matter of perspective entirely.
Could you do ones on Dingos, Rhesus Macaques, Bull sharks, or Anacondas
No
Yeah, no.
Wonderful creation of God, showcasing His majesty in creativity! Who would believe a bird living on bones? A dog we can understand as it can chew.
Can you do a video on hoatzin?
Damn they look awesome! Makeup and everything.
Agreed! Would be really cool inspiration for a Halloween costume!
Is there a metal Pokemon based on this thing? I forgot.
I can't think of one that's directly referencing bearded vultures, but Braviary and Mandibuzz sort of remind me of them.
My favorite part was the footage of the cinereous vultures...
