    Thanks for the video!
    It brings back memories...
    I was a golf course superintendent for 35 years!
    Beautiful course! The 1 thing I didn't like was the type of cup changer you use; not a fan of that style!
    Other than that I was impressed with the overall course!

    I say the PGA must make a permanent rule, NO Divots from a Tee box - because it is extreme damage to the course, two stroke penalty. You know exactly how long it takes to regrow. Why do they call it a TEE box? Because you use a TEE. And that's my final word. amiright? If you are a "keeper" agree with this - let's enforce "it". Yeah!

    Being a good greenkeeper requires a lot of passion (and know how) as I recently learned in this interview I did with a head-greenkeeper: ruclips.net/video/Jj1qC0pwUJ8/видео.html

    Is it true green keeping is not a well paid job?

    • @leecoops1248
      @leecoops1248 10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes it is true, I worked on a 3 different golf courses (midlands) over a 12 year period, I was qualified nvq level 2, sprayer pa1 pa2 certificate and chainsaw license and and the peak was getting just over £16.000 a year... what this video doesn't highlight is how some conditions you have to deal with in the canteen and sheds are horrendous and cold throughout the winter, the committee always gives a tight budget which is a struggle and you have to deal with members moaning, also a majority of the kit is dated.... definitely not the best job in the world in my opinion, you can work 2 years in a building trade and then be on nearly double

    • @olm6513
      @olm6513 5 месяцев назад

      @@leecoops1248 Out of interest what hours were you typically working? What time would you start in the mornings?
      There's a grounds team job advertised on a local course am half tempted to apply..

    • @leecoops1248
      @leecoops1248 5 месяцев назад +1

      @oliverm6513 I worked a typical 40 hour week, (8 hrs a day) the courses I worked at we mainly started about an hour before it got light... earliest was 6am latest was 7:30 ... also did a rotation of taking it in turns to do the weekends but they were only 3 hours each morning cutting the greens or brushing them and it was classed as overtime pay... time and half Saturday then double pay Sunday (these were one in 6 weekends) also members runned clubs are the best to go for, privately owned places tend to have tight budgets (eg ppe) and pay is not amazing there as they want profits

  • @christopherrose592
    @christopherrose592 2 года назад +2

    Work overtime all summer so you can have shorter days in winter .
    Watch people play golf when you have to work.
    Not as great as you think

      It sucks. Went back to it this year out of desperation for a job. Super early start, non stop work all day for garbage pay.
      Leaving soon.

    Don't, I've done it for years and fully qualified, if you want to get treated like a pile of muck then yes perfect job for you. The standards at golf clubs have gone right down since the mid 1990s due to financial stress. the younger generation is no longer playing the game so relying on older to keep the money coming in.very expensive to join a golf club and if you are new you will get the worst jobs going, my advice is don't do it

      @@mikem287 been working at various golf courses for 7 years, (in sweden) its not bad at all, Plus i dont even play golf. But golf is still pretty popular among younger generetions here. Take the job god dammit

    • @larryc5361

      Agreed. The place reeks of wealth and privilege yet you're there working your ass off so you can barely survive check to check.
      The whole green crew should quit. The course will be a jungle in a week. Try playing now.
      Thankless position.
