      I don't know, "I am a legend" broke canon and destroyed the plot twist of the book which was the whole point of the story, and some of his other films are not very subtle .. fingers crossed. I would have prefered Guillermo del Toro on this to be honest,

    I hope if they go with adding in stuff pre-fall that they take inspiration from the book- I’m not going to be upset if they don’t but it would be really nice since the book goes into some characters’ backstories in more detail.

    Good news! Obviously the film can’t be Jack going from level to level completing the objective and defeating the boss, so whatever twists and turns they’re adding to make this into a movie and not a rehash of a video game whilst remaining canon to the original story gets a two thumbs up from me 👍👍

    My question is WHICH canon Netflix follows. The first game had a lot if backstory and lore. BioShock 2 made some slight tweaks and additions but nothing too drastic. Burial at Sea COMPLETELY rewrote Rapture. The style was changed, the characters were made idiots so that Elizabeth can do everything, and so much of the canon was overhauled. I'm hoping they stick with the first two games and leave the Burial nonsense out.

    • @Mandalore_ultimate
      @Mandalore_ultimate 10 месяцев назад

      Burial At Sea presented New Year's Eve 1958 as Rapture in its prime when that wasn't Rapture in its prime since citizens were already splicing heavily during that time and the riots happened on that same night.

    It sounds like good news, but we're a long way from things not changing. With such rich source material, my fear is that they will end up trying to include too many things and end up with a complicated, muddled mess of a story in the end. But I'm hopeful.

    • @ConkerTS
      @ConkerTS 10 месяцев назад +1

      By the time we see Andrew Ryan in Rapture, he was not at all a good person, but I think maybe he was a better person before that. Certainly he was never a humanitarian, or generous with his own property, but I think his later very intolerant attitude of "You are either for or against me, no one is innocent" (or whatever his exact words were to Dianne) was a result of all the pressures and frustrations cause by the problems in Rapture.
      In this movie, it would be interesting to see how the troubles in Rapture changed him for the worse. We'd see him as the the ruthless business man who, fearing a possible nuclear war (since the USA had just dropped the two atomic bombs on Japan), and wishing to escape the control and (to him, unreasonable) demands and taxes forced upon him by the governments of the world, he comes up wth the idea of a city under the sea, where quality and enterprise were rewarded above all else, where everyone was free to do as they chose.
      We would see him as a hard as nails man, but still capable of some compassion and (though utterly unswerving in his views and actions), and though the movie we'd see how the problems in Rapture (such as the smugglers in Rapture who create a risk of the topside world learning about Rapture, Atlas/Fontain's crimes and actions, the endless parade of people complaining to Ryan about their own problems and frustrations with the way Rapture is run, the problems caused to Rapture's own physical structures (which would then endanger human life and parts of the city) b y careless or even deliberately harmful actions of some stupid/insane/suicidal citizens), and so on. We would see Ryan change from a strict, but not unnecessarily cruel ruler, to someone who comes almost to regard everyone in Rapture as being his own personal property, and that he has the right to judge who should live and who should die.
      Done properly, that would be a fantastic story.
      I do wish, though, that they were making a TV series rather than a movie. That way, there would be much more time for them to pack in much more story and characterization.

    Elizabeth will be in the movie 100% guaranteed, but not Columbia or Booker, because nobody cares about Booker, not even Infinite fans.
    And thanks to BAS that's not even breaking "canon". Also, there are not many good movies out there that are 95% faithful to the original source. Be careful what you wish for. The movie will take place in pre-/civil war times. We start off in an intact beautiful Rapture, Elizabeth appears and gets killed by Atlas half way through and it ends with Jack vs. Ryan. Because "A man chooses, a slave obeys." is too iconic not to end with. No happy end.

      @@Mandalore_ultimate Canon is what is in the games, wether you like it or not. But I get why die hard original Bioshock fans don't like Liz/Infinite/BAS so much because it is basically a different thing. However Infinte brought Bioshock to a much broader audience and Liz is still the most popular character from the franchies. If you ask random people about Bioshock, they know Big Daddies, Little Sisters and Elizabeth. And besides that, it is totally en vogue to have strong female leads in movies today. "We're not breaking canon" Yeah right, with infinite the "canon" is already ruined with plot holes and now we have the director having worked on the trash that was the hunger games movies now on the team. Movie will be like every other piece of Netflix trash that's been pushed out, it'll need no brains to follow and the entire story will be trash painted with an "I'm smart" coating so the brain dead masses feel good about themselves when finally see something that was shoved in their face during the first five minutes that they missed the first fifteen times they watched it along with nothing but the fakest drama that only a person with the mentality of a thirteen year old rich girl would find fascinating.

  • @pjtorresjr

    If the director wants immediate immersion and shock for the audience, the opening would be a cut scene where a splicer is chasing one of the Little Sisters thru a pavilion. She screams as he catches he latches her arm at the base of the stairs with a slight pause only to hear the THUD of the Big Daddy foot step. SILENCE. Pan to the splicer to show the panic in his disfigured face, desperate to cover her mouth she screams again and the THUD becomes rhythmic and louder. The Splicers breathing races as he pans around looking for the Big Daddy then as they do a face shot off the splicer, low angle to hi, the Big Daddy is behind the splice at the top of the stairs off to the right behind his head. Slight pause as a clear shot of the Big Daddy to illustrate his lumbering size. The camera works around pans downward from above and behind BD to show a longview of the stairs as the splicer lets the Little Sister go but speed belying his the immense size, the Big Daddy is almost on him. Knowing there is no chance of escape attempts to defend himself with a revolver but with too few bullets. Big Daddy swings his arm, catching the splicer as he flies into the wall. The camera reverts to the splicers POV with dazed double vision. The camera clears as he is caught to his throat and is being raised of the floor then it begins, the ROAR of the DRILL. From a side view the BD revs the drill and in one simple thrust, begins to mechanically disembowel the splicer as the the drill progresses to spine, effectively cutting the splicer in two. Fade to Black as the BioShock theme begins and the movie title comes on the screen.
