    You're correct, Mitoe does work on the balance team for Age of Empires 4 now, actually! We see him play quite a few games in AoE4 as well.

    You know whats crazy about abus? they even kill skirmishers like nothing... and take little damage becouse of their distance armor.
    Also abus has 13 melee when the skirms has like 6 or 7 -_-

    Honestly if I had the confidence/ability/presentation I'd do a spirit of the law like comparison of abus(e) gunners, skirms, cass etc. Still might if I get help.
    Having already run the numbers/data I already know the answer, it's bloody disgusting how good abus(e) are per cost and that's just against other skirms. Never mind the fact they are much better vs. artillery, ships then other skirms as well. Even if they had 0.75 penatly like other skirms (or did ranged damage and had penalties adjusted) their higher damage would STILL make them better. They need to be nerfed massively. No baby 5 gold nerfs.
    Even the anti skirm outlaw Hajduk's which don't get bonuses against anything else LOSE against abus(e) guns per cost. This is on top of course of Otto getting extra starting wood, free vills that don't stop while aging up (which significantly softens the blow of the slower train time) and Spahi.
    To be fair though, that engagement at the end there was 25 or so abus(e) guns which cost more then double the amount of Uhlans there, almost no unit wins even vs. it's counter at double the resource deficit. Uhlans in particular even at guard have very low HP per cost as you are well aware. Also healing works on the guys on the guns who can then repair them :). Maybe the Imam brings over some tools as well so the engineers can use them :D.

      I agree that the Abus Gun be nerfed (even that it looks like the Portuguese Cannoneer). Of course, the Ottoman economy must improve somehow.

      I have said it before, and I will say it again: it is bs that an infantry unit wielding a gun so big he has to carry it on his shoulder can deploy and fire it instantly, like a musket or a rifle. I say give Abus Gunners a small but significant pre-fire animation, so that they still have their damage potential but now have to either commit to the attack or flee, so that they can't just outgun their counters when their critical mass is met

      @@Adribird Otto eco isn’t even that bad. Not having to pay for villagers beyond mosque techs, getting them while aging up and starting with extra wood are significant advantages.
      You don’t even end up with that fewer vills compared to everyone else coming into age 3 because they have to stop training them while aging up and they have paid upwards of 1400 food more. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows but it’s nowhere near as bad as some people think it is. There’s a reason as well that Lion says you can’t just leave Otto alone to do what it wants, which is a bizarre thing to say about a civ that has a ‘bad’ economy.
      Also for reference Cannoneers are significantly worse then abus(e) guns.

    the balance of the game in general is pretty ok at the moment beside of otto, they are outside the balance :D

    Sharpshooters have longer ranger than abus guns so that is how I would deal with abus guns

      No chance, their HP is pretty low, also their base attack is low... Their 40% range resistance is useless against abus

    The abus guns there later on... That's crossbows in Feudal Age in AoE II, just impossible with pure cavalry.
    But question here - on the wikia it says that it's 1.2 Exp./Sec for basic T.P.s, whilst it then suggests 2.0 & 2.4 for the next two level respectively... I mentioned it in something earlier today & people have said it's more like 1.0 for base T.P.s - so is this value correct & if so what does the approximate value per second become when they get upgraded?
    Back to Abus guns though - I came across Chakram Throwers today (Passi got smashied by Caroleans), he could have doubled down on them instead of going rubbish French Dragoons I'd argue.
    They seem to me to be what Abus Gunners really should have been.
    I don't know if it's possible in this game as it is in AoE II to shoot a second projectile, but it allows for some great possibilities. Or maybe just a specialised pistol attack followed by the regular abus gun grenade attack which has a reduced damage compared to currently/a longer animation.

    Abus Gun really need nerfs they just way too op, dealing siege damages just wreck everything they could see, also they got pretty long range, maybe we could nerf their speed and fire rate a bit😂😂😂

      Abus already received numerous nerfs in terms of shipment cards not affecting them completely. Maxed out they train for the longest time out of all skirmishers in the entire game, you are forced to play artillery foundry to train them and on top of that they cost more than in legacy.
      I think they are fine at least late game, it was rather a fact his opponent expected FI from Ottomans which is the most standard gameplan for this Civ.
      If they should be nerfed, i'd rather see them brought back to some cards cards effects too.

    Abuse Guns 🤣🤣🤣, that's genius , I think you've started something Lionheart.
    Should they keep their range to 18 all the way through to Imperial, as tis would at least give skirmishers a chance against them. 22 range at imperial is just silly.
    I like some Haudo, and until light cannons,the only way to kil abusers is to have excellent Kanye micro

      They were called abuse guns since 2005 lol. Otto was extremely broken back then though. Like ridiculous levels of busted.

    Abus gunners have siege attack. So even if they deal 20 dmg on cavalry.. THE CAVALRY DOESNT MITIGATE LIKE IT DOES WITH SKIRMS.
    God this unit is dirty

    Unpopular opinion: Get rid of Abus siege damage and compensate by going softer on their multipliers

      Pretty popular opinion honestly. I think that normalises them too much but they need bigger penalties against something. Most unique units have a drawback to compensate for their advantages. Cass for example have awful melee attack and have less HP. Abus have no drawbacks at all beyond costing 2 pop which is counterbalanced by the fact Otto needs fewer houses anyway because it doesn’t pay for vills.

    Eh, Uhlans are just a shit cavalry unit. Same reason so many other Melee units are crap - low hitpoints is very bad for a unit that needs to get up in your face to kill things. It's why doppels are meh too.
    Just very swingy units - if you can get a solid connection with them they wreck, but they are much worse as screening and absorbing damage than regular cavalry, which is honestly probably the more important job much of the time. You need a critical mass so they can actually reach the enemy.

    They kill cavalry, cannons, pandours and light infantry. Abus guns have always been a broken unit.
    in team games is very hard win vs abus guns in the other team.
    Ottolammers are a boring civi to play since the game came out, their units are too powerful.

      skill issue, also abus are terrible in treaty since they cost 2 pop for essentially 1.5 units, you have a 33% less army value. most of the time i see otto players, they just spam jans and delis.
