Hasn’t it been universally recognized for a while? When I started listening to hip hop in the late 90s Illmatic was already considered the greatest hip hop album of all time (still is). Think Nas has been the recognized GOAT at least 10-15 years

I didn't listen to Nas until I first heard It Was Written in '97 when I was in high school. But it wasn't until 2001 when my cousin let me hear Illmatic for the first time that I really became a true Nas fan. Now as a rapper myself I credit Nas as one of my main influences and I'm from the westcoast

I started listening to Nas in 1996, I was 7 …”If I Ruled The World” was on the radio just after my Dad was killed 1996 but that song really touched me. Then 25yrs later on the date of my Dad’s of his death, I’m watching him perform the song live, that song really changed my perspective on things as a kid. Life really comes full circle in ways some of don’t realize.

I haven't heard Nas have this much freedom and swing in his flow since Illmatic. This new project is surreal how energized he sounds and how much denser his rhymes sound. And I say this as a 30-yr fan with respect for every phase of his career. It Was Written is my favorite from him. Love Kings Disease series which feels more about articulating ideas, teaching and celebrating, but he sounds crazy inspired here

Both are two of my favorites all time and I take a lot of inspiration from them in my own beats and raps. I’ll never be as good as them, but I still got tons of love for them as artists and what they’ve done for the culture and the industry.
