- You can find the sheet music for this arrangement at kristianolsen.o....
This is my rendition of Jimmy Yancey’s “How Long Blues,” based on the 1943 recording from his "Complete Recorded Works (1939-1950), Vol. 2" on Document Records (Track 16, Alternate Take). Yancey recorded the piece several times, but this one is my favorite. It can be heard at • Jimmy Yancey - How Lon... .
I don’t play the piece exactly like Yancey, preferring instead to mix a few of Yancey’s verses with some improvisation that (hopefully) remains faithful to the overall style and feel of Yancey’s masterful original recording.

What a wonderful version, Kristian - your improvisations and subtle tones raise the classic to a new level. Thank you for sharing your music with the world!
Nice touch. Closed my eyes and saw a smokey dark bar.
Best cover I have heard so far, I am still looking
Nicely interpreted!
The slow tempo!! So bluesy with simplicity..Muddy Waters favorite

Sweet ! Blues is so nice when played slowly with elegance. You remind me a bit of Christian Fuchs, FROM BERLIN ! He also posts a lot on RUclips.

Beautifully played, Kristian, something for me to try and emulate. I'll definitely come up short but maybe the resulting work will still be satisfactory. All the best.

Love your playing if you ever do slow blues tunes with sheet music I’d be g on ad to pay for it like your style very much
nice!
Thanks Kristisn. Great playing !!
It would be good if you had over shot of your fingers playing .. eg. Even sm/one holding camera behind you / above you.
You look lovely in side view etc .. but i will learn more if i can see piano
Thanks again 🎉
Thanks for the suggestion. FYI: you can find the (free) sheet music in the description, which captures pretty much exactly what I play in the video.
Indeed thank you. But i'm not a sight reader. The Handicap Blues 😀
Lovely -I have a different version from the recording ''Pure Blues '' with his wife singing ....it is from a book called ''Six Blues Root Pianists '' , I will definitely get your sheet music too .
Is this a digital keyboard? It sounds so nice. Also do you have any tips on. Playing thrills in tempo. IT always feels like the moment I add it I also my hand independence
Yep, it's a digital. Not sure I have any great advice about trills other than to go slow at first and keep at it.
I say keep'm coming too.
Дас Ист Фантастишь!!!
Hi, nice interpretation. But the link to the sheet music does not work.
Hmm...seems to be working when I try it!
