I had the same kind of instant happen but with me it was the water pump was intermittent causing a signal and then overheat it. I opened the hood and it was the water pump that went. I also had three engines on the 4.7 L Dodge 1500 I wasn't too happy.
@@MrChuntaro Update: After a week of the check gages light being on, as i was driving my ABS light, brake light, and Airbag light came on, i was losing acceleration as i was driving home. I just removed the alternator tonight, and hopefully replace it tomorrow morning. Will be updating on this post. FYI: i bought my dually used in the year 2016...only god knows how old that alternator is.
Another update: So apparently when installing the new batteries i seem to have forgot to bolt back the alternator cable to the battery 😅😅😅. Well i hope that was it, tomorrow will be the day
So my check gages light came on I went to autozone to get it charged and and it was still on then it died so I thought my battery was just old so I got a new battery and about 15mins away from work the check gages light came on again
Thank you for your information.. this information works for me.
Do a Guage recalibration first whenever a Guage seems off. Hold the trip pin in and turn the ignition to run, not start. There's vids on it.

I replaced both of my bats on my 04 3500 and the light came on. I double checked and made sure terminals were clean and tight.
It's been two days now, is the light still on?

If the gauge goes to high is that a bad thing cause thats whats happening with mine now
Voltage regulator bad. Might overcharge your battery.
Does your temp gauge work ?
Yes. The truck was just cold.
Does it start rough mine takes about two times to start.
No. It would start right up.
