    That was an enjoyable watch. The audio quality, b-roll and content was all packaged so well. For the casual skating I do will keep Cats in mind. Looks like their entry level lions come in around half the price of the leopards and might be worth a shot. I guess going 3 wheels per skate saves you a couple of bearings in the long run. ;)

    got to 3min :11 secs spin test... i used to skate a lot , went from dry bushed to high abec 11 racing bearings, after the abec 7 cryptonites, i found some ceramic ones that were faster but not as resistant to wear(street inline skating is a torture test) then after a while i was getting into turbo cars, and found a japanese turbo that had bearings in the same size of the inline skate ones, those costed me almost 700 dolars for all the 16 , but looking at their specs and numbers, they were like abec 21 in their rating(the precision of the surfaces), plus they had thin inner tubes, bigger tracks and balls, i had to lathe them a bit, to reduce width of the inner tube, and they live in the only pair of inline skates i still own(sold all the other 6 pairs) coz i stopped staking for years, they are custom rollerblade Tarmac CE, with billet frames, and titanium axles, hyper fatboys, japanese(cant read the brand name) turbo bearings, the perfect pair...

    When bearings whir away like that and spin for minutes it means they're dry. Did you lube them after you cleaned them? Dry bearings can overheat and melt your wheel cores or just suddenly fail on you, which is super dangerous.

    • @pey666
      @pey666 6 лет назад +1

      I own Cats Leopards too and they just spin that well. I found the one time I did need to oil them again they didn't spin freely like other bearings they became a little crunchy. A couple of blobs of Cats oil on them and they were back to free spinning like a champ. I've even over oiled them just so I didn't have to worry about doing it again for a while and they beat everyone's bearings at the rink I go to. The only bearing I have seen out spin them so far are BSB's Swiss but they cost twice the price of Cats.

    • @pey666
      @pey666 6 лет назад

      Not in the UK, the price for BSB is £90-£100 and Cats are £50. I've free spinned them against a few swiss bearings and Cats beat them.
      The guy who uses the BSB has had them for 10+ years and uses his own formula of grease on them so that maybe making the difference, he runs the skate shop in town. He does a little quick flick of his foot and they look like they're about to take off.

    The only frames I can seem to find are the ones that hold 100/110 wheels but make the frame unnecessarily long (even with 110s there is a rather large gap between the wheels).

    • @ourcollectiveinsanity

      im currently using k2 fit pro with 90mm x4 wheels, by the way thank you so much for the help, i dont have too much experience with skates but i feel im ready for an upgrade, this skates are too soft on the cuff and the power transfer i feel is lacking a ton, and yes i have wide feet, not super wide but wide, the only thing making me doubt the sebas are the ventilation.

    • @MrFelipe8686
      @MrFelipe8686 6 лет назад +1

      Computer Simulated Atomic Coded Reality I own the Megacruiser 125 (not pro) pink and find them very comfortable...I like the imperial boot for urban skating and the fact that they come with my fit liners which are fantastic, and heat moldable (just the liner, not the boot) by the way in case you have some sore spots or want to speed-up the break-in process. The boot is well vented and has shock-absorbing pads which is nice...transitioning to the 125mm wheel wasn’t as bad as I expected and I actually felt more stable on long sessions because of the inherent length...still you might need an adjustment period for the height. If you’re looking for a lot of maneuverability, you’d be better off with 110 or 100mm wheels, but these are maneuverable enough for longer commutes. Hope that helps

    • @ourcollectiveinsanity
      @ourcollectiveinsanity 6 лет назад +1

      Thank you so much PIPE i do see the megacruisers as a very strong contender also, the thing with the megacruisers is that i dont know if they are in the same league as the sebas 325 or the roces 110 quality wise, and im trying to get a set up of say height where i dont want to upgrade in at least a year like it happened with the k2, i want to buy a 125 or 110 setup that i can keep forever and be happy about it, thats why im asking , so i have 1 vote for the magas, so far, thank you PIPE!!! • @michaelyeung2126
      @michaelyeung2126 6 лет назад +2

      Hi there just wish to share my own experience, as i hv all the skates you mentioned. I love all the brands and all the skates, but among the three, i would put megacruiser > seba fr1 > roces. like Derek said, roces is not really for urban. while i really love seba, the fr1 liner to me is not as comfortable as the frd balaned liner, especially for urban conditions. the megacruiser pro has great liner, frame is solid, overall a very good pair of skates.
      having said that, if you go up from 90mm to 125mm, it can be tricky, as it could be hard to get used to. to ease the problem, i would really recommend powerslide's trinity mounting, it's much closer to ground so the difference doesn't feel that significant. if you mainly casual skate, try the Swell series, it's really comfortable, affordable and great for leisure skating. But if you like jumping, doing tricks, etc, the Kaze is better. And of course there are Hardcore Evo series and TAU series, which are excellent but comparatively expensive.
      so all in all, i would say my preference would be any trinity mounting skates, then megacruiser > seba fr1 > roces. hope it helps

    • @cataria3903

      loadless free spin doesn't matter.
      u need to test the bearings under load and with appropriate oil in them for the usecase, if they use any at all.
      why appropriate? because u can throw in some super thin oil, that will result in longer freespin, but will have much worse protection and other worse potential properties.
      remember, that spinning a wheel without load vs pushing at an angle with a force of 1.5x your body weight on one skate is a huge difference.
      the video itself says, that he doesn't care much about free spin.
      free spin after a long time of actual use can show, that the bearings have good dirt protection for example, which means, that u have to clean them much less over time, but free spin alone is NOT a good sign of performance, if a sign at all.

    Very nice clip, Bill. Unfortunately, free spin of bearings has nearly no say in how fast they are. Have bearings that spin 3 minutes but they're as busted as can be. I see now how old this clip is, so I assume your opinion may be different 😁

      Still using that exact set! Sometimes free spin is an indication of fast wheels; happily the build quality was incredible too.

    ughhh so jealous of canada's infrastructure. in my norcal nighborhood the roads are minefields of potholes and there's no sidewalk for most of my commute. hopefully if i break my legs, they'll actually fix the roads

      *Cringes in Michigan. I literally only know 1 single place to skate. A paved path in a county park. We have pot holes you could lay down in. Michigan winters and ice are brutal on pavement. I've been searching for new skate spots for weeks and coming up empty handed. Wish I lived near a sweet city.

    Isn't Toronto.. where there exists "stare-rape" and where you, as a man, once a women said something, where you are "guilty until proven guilty"?

      I just repeat what people told me about Toronto. I.e. in universities when a girl complains you were staring at here, you may quickly have to leave the school there for 'stare-rape'. And you must be guilty, because else the girl would not say so.
      Obviously nothing you can back-up - good.

      You do realise they are US $754.79 just for the bearings. They should be good.
