I recently begun making RUclips videos of my travels. Any advice on how I can improve them would be much appreciated!
Hi all, I was in the US Navy air wing. Nuts and bolts on jets are subject to A LOT of vibration. We would wire tie them in place. The 'wire nuts' or bolts have a hole drilled through one "corner" of the head (which can be done with a drill if you can't find them predrilled). A wire is run through the hole in the torqued down nut or bolt and attached to others in series or to a tiedown spot, if it is singular. There is a special rotating clamp plier tool to twist the wire to cinch the connection but it can be done by hand. It's hard to explain the nuances of the various configurations to apply the wire holdfast using text comments. There are videos online showing how it is done. This eliminates dependence on "nylon" nuts which can still loosen up or "lock tight' which makes them hard to remove. I've been a fan of the channel for years. Hope this comment may help someone out there. Cheers all, Thomas
around thw world? great! read the book A WORLD OF MY OWN by Robin Knox Johnson from what I remembered he never used the engine once Don't think that was allowed
You guys got this, it might seem all complicated and everything from your perspective, but the two of you are so powerful that it's just gunna happen yo. You will be at the end of this journey looking back at this moment thinking WOW we really did that, we brought two kids through that... we inspired 1.85 million people through that, (and here's the three million yet to come) it's gunna to be like, "are you serious did we really?" You will look back and think, YES we did. You will look back to this moment and think we have touched the lives of Millions... and made our lives better doing so... and when you finally cross your own path, when the two of you have have journeyed all the way back around to where this all began... I hope and pray that it is all the more magical the second time around =];) thank you... thank you for inspiring me to do the same ^.^ you all have a wonderful day.
Just had to stop after the first minute because I have to assure you that as a mom of a 5 year old boy and of a 10 months old girl, there is absolutely no judgement for flying. I keep watching your adventures for months now and I am always amazed how you manage with two boys on board. KUDOS to you two! Now back to watching your amazing plans!
I agree, flying is not an issue when you have yr two boisterous boys. Are you doing any meet ups when you come to England, as would like to say Thank you in person for saving my sanity during lockdown when I found you on RUclips.
Sadly there are people out there who are looking to criticize mostly with absolutely NO Justification thus they are called Haters. Thing to do is to ignore them they are totally irrelevant, as ;parents you should do what you feel is best and to hell with haters.
Absolutely no judgement !
People can judge all they want. Children need to come first and your mental state is critical. I flew for a living…wait till the kids say I don’t want to sail anywhere…can we go on vacation using no sailboats! PLEASE MOM. Mine did but it was flying❤
So glad E and the boys flew back! ❤
Riley and Forest in a crisis are the essence of Aussie chill. Well done.
Aussie chill is a myth. Go to Oz. Explore. And pretty soon...you'll see...these are some of the most uptight people on earth. "No worries" is not the reality of Australia. Overly conformist, overly controlling people, moralizing, meth epidemics, domestic violence, gangs, and a "mateship" system that keeps everybody enmeshed with one another is the embodiment of Australia.
Forrest seems the most down to earth gentleman! Definitely who you’d want as co captain in that situation.
I love how Forest is so happy and jovial when things are going badly!
I know nothing about sailing, but when you and Forest navigated into that spot with nothing working and everything against you, I understood completely what was going on by the way you guys communicated. Super intense and I'm wicked impressed! well done.
Yeah exactly Super impressive... and that they still managed to put up one camera to take us along for the ride is amazing.
Amazing the connection these professional seaman share. So much is experience and some intuition that cannot be seen.
@@aleta5873 so very true
😊👍
Yes. Imagine nothing working and the boat is for sale. Maximum discount please!
I'm whatcha call a lurker - I don't often comment but I always Like. I want to say that I can't imagine anyone judging you for taking two toddlers on the easier travel route after living in such close quarters for so long. You don't show the meltdowns (kids and parents!) but anyone who has raised kids knows that's part of the deal. I admire you both so much. You are amazing and your videos are accessible, informative, real and gorgeous. Thank you!
😊👍
Great comment. I'm with you.Cheers from Australia 🦘🦘🦘
Never apologize. Your generosity of sharing your adventures with us is beyond compare. Family is ALWAYS first. You are the only people that get a say on what's best for you. Sending lots of love and support. Can't wait for the next adventure ❤️🥰🇨🇦
I was a single mom and I was judged a lot. I told them you don't pay my bills, sleep in my bed, or raise my kids .....I do. I told them to piss off lol. You're both great parents, and your kids are at an age of constant going . You do what is right for those beautiful babies and your family. By the way I love your channel and I'm so glad to share this adventure with you all. Be safe. Have fun. 😊😊
Way to go Riley and Forest!
As a dad of 6 and grandad of 9, I would be on that plane in a flash. Loving what you do.
Riley and Forrest are long lost brothers who can do anything together! As for people chiming in about flying with the kids ahead... obviously they have never been on a small boat with two kids that age in a country with no coast guard. It sounds like you have quite the lineup coming, so glad to see you both relax and take good care of yourselves. Much love and thanks for all you share here. 💜💜💜💜
*Kudos Riley and Elayna for doing what is best for your family, mental health, and living with integrity. Please always live your healthiest best lives and us likeminded supporters who are intentional about being kind, compassionate, positive, and nonjudgmental will always be here to support your family. May the negative and unkind people who easily judge and criticize others find the light and love that they need to evolve into happier and kinder humans.*
🙏🏼💙 ✌️
Perfectly said 🤗
As a mom I think you flying with the kids is a smart idea. They’re a handful at that age lol Could you imagine if the kids had been on the boat during all of this ?
Can you imagine Elayna on the boat during all of this?? I’d be freaking!!
@@Mamame4 😊👍
Who wouldn’t? I’m so glad she flew
Even flying with kids can be a handful! Still a better option that 3 days on the boat!
NO omg hahahah yeah we’re actually so lucky the boys weren’t onboard during that stressful time.. 😬❤️
Elayna
We r ex expats snd travelled the world with 2 young boys who are now 27 and 30 - well rounded kind interesting caring boys - it is absolutely necessary to do what’s right for what’s going on in your world at that moment - I’m thrilled to hear for you that you said out loud you don’t care what others think say or judge 🤗~ whoopy 😊 this is keeping it real which was one of your goals ~ congratulations 🎉
😊👍
Just WOW! That was some great problem-solving sailing!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
As said a million times before, "It's always something." You came, you say, and you carried on. May God continue to bless your little family as you continue to take all of us along on your wonderful adventure. Thank you for your share.
Can’t imagine why anyone would judge you for flying with the kids! I’m really glad you don’t care and are just doing what you know is right for your family!!
@Gina Murgatroyd -- "Judging" most likely emanated from a projected extraneous and insecure source.
Kudos to you for providing support.
😊👍
Because they're enviromentalists and flying will add much more CO2 to the atmosphere than sailing would. I guess saving the planet is only important until it is an inconvenience. Gretta would be very disappointed.
@@sizzelotthey're not though they just took Greta it doesn't make them environmentalist, if they were they wouldn't be building a new boat. Not bad mouthing them everyone is allowed to be who they want
@@ermining1They also eat meat (I think?) But who gives a hoot if they fly? I recently had to fly private for the first (probably only) time in my life. I am in poor health as is my best friend (dog.) We would not have made it driving cross country & airlines will no longer allow ESA’s. If anyone wants to judge me I’ll show them what they can kiss!
I love how a trip with a 4 year old and 2 year old alone to you is a break 😂 I don’t want to travel with one two year old alone. Props to you and give yourself so much credit!
DANG dudes! What an episode. You really captured the intensity of that night sail into a busy port but at the same time you came across as completely in control and knowledgeable. Fantastic. Really looking forward to the upcoming boats. Thanks guys.
You guys always manage to find the best people to help out onboard, Forrest is up there with Andre as an all time favorite crew member for me! What a guy!
no reason to judge for flying back, relieving stress from y'all is top priority, love the videos
Really enjoyed content. Thanks for being authentic and real and what a sail adventure and learning experience for sailors. Looks like the next episodes are going to be an adventure. It’s fun.
Riley and Forrest did great manuvering the boat to the crowded anchorage. Super interesting to watch how you two coordinated getting it done.
The beauty of these videos u all deserve Grammy awards utube style! The quiet the stress but handled so beautifully strategic boat handling much respect to both u n forest. Elaina ur a Rockstar
I'm excited for the new adventures!! Safe travels guys! 🙏
You bring us on this great adventure, Thank You! I’m glad you guys use your own judgment and don’t care what people think and there judgement!

I am always greatful for your videos, all of you, and how well matched your guests and occasional crew you vet!!
Your recent episode had me on what can go wrong out in the blue! And you navigation skills are top shelf both of you!
I've trucked all over North America and mostly Canada. You HAVE to fix what fails trouble shoot, improvise , forward think and be calm. At minus 40c and no one to hear your May day call you've got at best 90 minutes before your engine won't start at those temps.
Very proud of you both. And a mate that has your back and a lady that loves you.
You may not have it all together but together you have it All.
Would love to see an episode where all the amazing crew got together, from Andre to your cousin, David, and Forrest. All the Nannie’s…. That would be a blast.
Good call on flying. Awesome job sailing a broken boat into the harbor at night guys! Well done! Always enjoy your content - keep it up!
I absolutely loved this video! You had me on the edge of my seat watching you maneuver the boat to anchor! I am totally amazed how well you guys do handling the boat with issues and raising your boys at that same time. Kudos on a job well done as parents! You guys rock!❤❤
Continue to follow what is best for each of you! Your well being is the most important.
I really loved this video especially😅 the way Riley and Forest stayed calm while meandering through the bay. Elana made the best choice flying with the boys!
This one was so exciting!!! I was scared and thrilled when yall were anchoring under sail!!!! Oh my goodness 😂Riley, YOU ARE A ROCK STAR❤ Thank goodness mama and boys flew out❤ The Fairest of Winds to you guys❤
It's been a pleasure watching your family, so bless.
Praying for your family. Will be so great to have your new boat finally. You are such a lovely family. God bless you!
Been watching you guys for a long time now and I still don’t know much about sailing, but the animation while explaining is super helpful. Without it, I might just fast forward past it. Appreciate the work that is goes into these videos!
Sailing or flying, life is an adventure and each version of travel has its own usable RUclips content. Loving it guys. I get it with the kiddos.
You two had quite the trip :D I really admire how you tackled all the problems, some of them quite challenging indeed. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us!
From a boat taking on water to a boat with no engine… 😮 your skills and knowledge are really being put to the test! Thanks for taking us along!
Xx

You guys are the best!!!! Boat life I have seen.. Please never worry about what the negative people in this world have to say , you guys are great and just do you ❤️
Happy Belated Father’s Day Riley. The schedule sounds amazing.
Yes! Congrats on your upcoming adventures! We can't wait to follow along 🔥
Unbelievable calm in a crazy challenging situation! Well done Riley and Forest!!! Your determined problem solving and great team work is inspiring! Wooo Hoooo!
Good for you! You guys do what you need to do. Screw the judgers. You are gracious enough to let us sail with you!
Impressive save Riley and Forest🏆
I think that was an awesome call Elayna definitely you and the boys fly back. So glad that you are taking time for you. Gosh you feel like my kids I worry about but so glad that you are all well and so excited for the future videos. Love you guys big hugs all around.
Thrilling adventure Riley and Forest! And you stayed so calm enjoying each problem and it’s solution. Elayna you look so beautiful and rested…good thing you took that flight with your youngsters. ❤
Good on yer both for sticking by your decisions. When you introduce kids into the mix it changes priorities for a while. You absolutely made the right decision. 👏👏
Whether it's flying, sailing, taking a train, bus, or riding a bike, the more experiences, the better!❤ 😊
what a great opportunity for everyone, looking forward to seeing the next few weeks of videos. Thank you
Love it can't wait to see the places you are going always living vicariously through you guys. Yall are amazing forever grateful you take us along with you and even a step more show a different way to live with a family 🙏💕
Riley and Forest, You did a great job! BTW family first Elena bravo 👏🏼 ❤
This is so great to see the boys in adventure! Good job capturing it all. I love sailing at night and especially no motor, that's when it separates the true sailors from the rest.
Well your hard work has certainly paid off. Tripping around from one boat to another around the world, you've certainly earned respect from these boat owners!. Well done Riley & Elayna & Forest, and all those who have helped you along the way. What a journey for you both and the kids. You've crossed many hurdles, and that could also happen behind a desk in the city. That's life, hey! And changing up your plans is great. Then you'll be ready to settle back down on your own vessel. Jealous much.! Fun vids ahead I'm sure. Kim Katoomba
Ain't gonna lie, I'm doing the pee pee dance in anticipation of these upcoming videos! Love, love, love you guys! I love this channel because you SAIL, not motor, through so many situations. The trek into this anchorage is a massive testament to your expertise and intricate understanding of how sailing works, how it is mathematical, and why it's vital to understand how the vessel you are handing reacts. Riley, you are a legend! This was amazing to watch! Every video is such a treat! Thank you!
Pee pee dances all round 🤙🤣
These videos are fantastic.....great job Riley and Forest....very cool sailing!
Excited about the next adventure. Credit to you both love NN Jude xo
Could they have used the dingy to tow them to an anchor spot ?
Your calmness reveals your brilliance. Well done.
Keep up the GREAT videos! I always look forward to them, the upcoming adventures sound amazing. Safe and Happy travels!!!
Congrats Riley and Forrest! I am PROUD of you two. You have proven that you are true sailors with your seamanship skills , resilience, navigating the challenges of the sea and teamwork.
I too stopped your vid at 0:55 to tell you that you don't owe ANYONE an explanation for what you do. The thought of people judging you for ANYTHING is outrageous to me. You don't have to answer to anyone but your Maker, and I'm certain He's for you doing what's best for you and your family. ❤🧡💛💚
I love the friendships that you both have made on this journey your on, it’s a real beautiful thing, ❤❤❤❤
Awesome episode! Riley and Forest you two showed tons of courage and skill to get into that mooring. Forest's review was spot on, waiting would have just caused more problems that you might not have realized until it was to late.
Super proud of you guys for doing what's best for *YOUR* family! In 10+ years when your boys look back and watch this video, they'll know that you guys put them before the opinions of strangers! That's love, and that cannot be debated!
In 50 years the boys will be living in a world where oil has run out and climate change is in full effect. The world will be fucked because of the massive consumption by the generations before them.
No one has the right to judge anyone else !!!!! Plain and simple. You two always have the BOYS best interest in mind !!! We your true followers know 💚💚💚💚 so excited for you all !!!
Well, it’s good to hear somebody say that these days
P A I N and simple? 🤣
@@majoroldladyakamom6948 thanks ...fixed
I just love your videos!! They’re amazing and like no other!! Beautiful footage and lovely people with amazing adventures. I just love watching you guys ✨
For real your both amazing you know what's best for your family that's what makes you so exciting to watch
Wow what an incredibly intense evening. You couldn't find 2 better sailors to manage a dangerous situation like that. Kudos to you two. Good call to fly the kids. It would have been mayhem otherwise.
I know 🥲 I’m so proud of both Riley and Forrest! They nailed it!

Look forward to seeing all the unique and different sailing boats you going to be checking out in the upcoming videos #007
Been loving the entire series looking forward to next week.
I am so freaking stoked to see these vessels close up through your eyes because I want to find my dream boat to live on. I have a great feeling that my future boat is on your list to explore! 🎉🫡🤑🚣♀️❤❤❤❤
Sensible not to drive yourselves crazy on a 3 day passage. ❤🙌
You need to develop more respect for Christ I dont hear you using Buddha or Mohammed or any other religious leaders name as a curse word. Show some respect.
You guys are amazing. I love watching the adventures your family goes on. The fact that you guys are raising two beautiful boys on a boat is an amazing feat in its self I'm so excited that you guys will be coming through the US in your trip around the world. Good luck guys stay safe and beautiful.
Sooo cool. Looking forward for your trips ! 😍
Cannot wait for the new adventures ! You can see the passion for sailing in Riley's Eyes. You guys have come a long way. Proud of the way the family has grown and the great parenting skills!
Looking forward to new travels and adventures. Such a beautiful family. Utmost support to you. Being a mother of young adults, I really admire and encourage you on how great parents you are. Education, culture and most important love that you give first to your kids and others.
Well done guys sailing into the harbour! How amazing is that going to be seeing all those different magnificent boats. My dad done a 14 year apprenticeship in boatbuilding in the 1950s, making wooden yachts, they were beautiful. I have a pic of my dad corking a yacht. Looking forward to your next adventure xx
Can’t wait to see what the future holds for you guys! ❤
❤❤❤ you guys! Prayers for Safety, health and fun!
Always a legend Riley and Elana. Respect

Loved this episode you guys! GlD you are all safe. Elana make sure you look after yourself as a dad I completely understand how hard it is after watching my wife go through it with our three little ones. Let alone being at sea! Proud of you guys.
