    The Googans are certainly out in force already. I was out solo this week and got yelled at twice. One guy had 5 boards per side and wanted everyone to give him some room. Some did some didnt. LOL another time I was doing as you say heading north to the stick on the shelf and a guy is headed to shore. I knew this due to seeing the side of his boat. I marked a fish and then got a hit on my port dipsey. He turns south about then so I let him know that my other two rods are out the other side. He begins to yell I cut him off and am going east west. I just figure those guys are drunk or stupid or both. Tight Lines!

    I had a boat slipped in Ludington for over 40 years what you are suggesting is that one boat who is following the break has the right of way. It was always the same captains who would try to push others off the break. I was friends with a lot of the Charters and there was always a select few who would never yield course when they were in the wrong. I used to enjoy listen on the radio when two captains both wanted the bank while running opposite directions and the bitching would begin as to who was going to yield.
    The way it's supposed to be is you maintain your heading ( per CG regs) and each boat can give a little . The problem is whether you like it or not is everyone has the right to fish the same waters whether you are a charter or just a fun fisherman! There are a lot of things done the Ludington way while in Ludington but it doesn't necessarily meanss it's right.
    It was like when the fish tanked years ago and how many Ludington captains would take clients out and if they caught 3 salmon they would call it a limit and head in even though you were allowed 5 fish which could of included trout. I know captains in other points used to laugh at the Ludington limit but hey it was the Ludington way!

    I remember having HIATUS set up right next to me and not give me an inch

      I would rather have hiatus next to me than 99% of the boats up there! Plus they are always on the fish!!

      @Reel2ReelOutdoors following contour lines isn't how boating etiquette works. Yielding to right-a-way boaters is how boating etiquette works. It's always the charter boats cutting into other guys and forcing them over and disregarding the basic boating rules.

      @@musk0815 driving a different direction than the other 100 boats isn’t very good etiquette either. Not paying attention in heavy traffic areas because you “have a fish on” is not safe. If you saw the things we see on a daily basis, maybe you would understand where we are coming from. This isn’t a charter boat non charter boat issue. It is guys that have no one, or someone that is inexperienced trying to drive in the dark in extremely congested waters that cause most of the issues. The turning that is required to maintain your depth is very minimal. I understand that Charters piss you off, but they are not the ones causing the issues.

    Fishing “wants”/ “Ludington way” dont trump rules of the road.

    • @Reel2ReelOutdoors
      @Reel2ReelOutdoors  4 месяца назад

      Rules of the road apply to vessel colliding not the fishing tackle dragging behind the boats.

    Just to further understand...you're saying the "turning" boat is the boat that should give way? thanks.

      When there is a lot of traffic you need to try your best to maintain your depth.

      If you are meeting another boat head on, you will have to both change depth to avoid conflict.

    In your videos you say to watch your diver rods and downriggers to make sure you’re trolling correctly. How do I maintain the same depth if that’s a different troll than the contours?

      The current usually runs along the contour.

      @@daveszurna4577 the point of this is if your search causes you to enter the line of another boat. If you don’t want to have conflicts this is the idea.

    Good luck with that! There’s no common sense test when Googans buy boats. Adam, I appreciate your effort, but it’s truly a waste of your time.
