@skateboard4415 Unfortunately I used a software on this one that doesn't break down what amp/pedal simulators it uses. Going forward I'm using a new program that I'll be able to share exactly what I'm using. Look for a Pneuma video coming soon! I'll still try to describe how I got the tone though. It's a mix of 2 channels blended together. One EQ'd higher and one EQ'd lower. I actually scooped mids on both channels, one more than the other. Adam Jones usually pushes the mids pretty strong though. So not sure why I liked the scooped mids more on this one. The higher EQ channel has delay at about 30%. The lower EQ track has no delay and Gate set pretty high. Heavy reverb on the short riff in the beginning. Adam Jones uses 2 channels, one Marshall Super Bass and one Blue Face Diezel VH4 into a Mesa Boogie cab. He uses the Boss DD-5 Digital delay pedal.
This song has got such a groove to it, and the vocals have soul. Maynard singing like he’s got a chip on his shoulder. Absolutely killer song. And great cover, your guitar is indiscernible from the original track
I don’t know where this particular rabbit hole started but I’m glad I’m here! After not playing for a few months, I’ve blown the dust off my SG and officially started playing again! My fingers hurt like hell and it’s all your fault! Love the channel! Nice LP, btw…I’ve had it in my Sweetwater cart on more than one occasion. Someday I’ll pull the trigger. Probably sometime after this wife but before the next one 😏.
Thanks so much! Ahh great catch! I just looked up a live video and Adam appears to be playing 10-10-10-12-13. Hard to see exactly but I also think I'm hearing those higher notes. I think that actually sounds really good over the album version too. What do you think? I appreciate the help figuring out these little details. Clearly, I can't update this video, but I'll update the tabs on my end for anyone that requests the PDFs and for once I get my site going.
@ you’re welcome, happy to help. I think it reappears later in the song too. I’ll try with the 13 at some point when playing next. Oh, I forgot to mention; for the bridge riff, for the ascending chugging riff 2-2-0-0, 3-3-0-0 etc, I play 2-2-2 to 0-0-0-2-3 then 3-3-3 to 0-0-0-2-3 etc, maybe it’s my ear, but seems to fill out the groove nicely. Love that guitar too. Looks amazing and sweet tone!

Some sections in particular are deceptively difficult. The one piece of general advice for the song I would give is that it's all about feeling the groove/rhythm. What sections in particular are you struggling with?
@@RockinTabsI think you hit the nail on the head with your response, just the groove and rhythm that I struggle to get right but I’ll get it with more practice
Great question! For this song, it was just how it came to me. When I have some time, I'll try to find some good videos to see what Adam's picking style is for this song. I'll report back if I can figure it out.
It depends on a lot of factors, but ultimately, I do think so. There's a few sections that are gonna be more of a challenge. I would focus on learning all the sections/riffs separately and then try to piece them all together once you have them down. It's a great goal to aim for. Have fun and let me know if you have any questions! 🤘
How do you do that sixteenth note triplet with the last note muted? Are you basically just doing two pull-offs, one on the 6th string and one on the (muted) 5th string?
Yes! You got it right. Adam Jones is the only one I've seen use this technique. It's one smooth pull off that pulls off the 6th string first and then the 5th string. Just need to practice it to get the timing down. He uses it in a few other Tool songs. Invincible and Jambi for sure.
1:52 - 1:54 Tabs don't match with what you're playing. Lil annoyed because thats the only reason why I'm here hahaha. Just going to go off your hand movements.
I just watched that part again in 1/2 speed and I'm pretty sure I'm playing that part exactly as tabbed. It's definitely an awkward part that's more about feeling it than thinking about it. Did you try watching it with the speed slowed down?
10 месяцев назад
@RockinTabs Nah watch again. So it should be: D string 5h6 then A string 5p0. Well that's what you play, and after learning it my self, sounds right.
10 месяцев назад
Sorry, after watching it slowed, you dont actually play the 6. My apologies! Another version I found has the 6 on the D string there, but I don't think its 5h6 just 5 then 6 then A string 5p0. Once again, my apologies! @RockinTabs

@@RockinTabsNext time I'm jamming I'm going to try this tab again, see how it sounds. I might just be going full spastic. It's such an awkward set of notes 😂
@jfreitag88 i could do it but thats not the point. i wish i had more feedback along the way so i developed less bad habits that i had to break down the line.
"That looks...easy" - Norm McDonald (Great job, seriously)
Lol I love Norm. Thanks so much!
Said no body😂
Bro i once played this stoned it felt like it lasted 24 minutes
😅
I forgot I was watching a guitar cover when I put my phone down for a second, indiscernible from the studio tone. Wicked job my man!
That's one of the highest compliments I can get. Thanks so much! 🤘
LOVE seeing the scrolling tab while you're playing 10/10!
Thanks! Glad you enjoy it 🤘

Great job on the play and the tone

Nice playing and tab. At 2:48 (bar 75), I always play 10-10-12 which I think the suspended part if the chord sounds right.
