My friends dog that I was watching jumped on a man and knocked him down, although I nor animal control which I called could see any bit marks the man said he was bitten. Animal control told me it was a scratch mark from the driveway but it was not bleeding. I told him I would take responsibility since I let the dog off the leash prior to entering my backyard and I didn’t care. Well the man came to me a week later and said he lost a week worth of work and he was out $4,000. I ask him to give me a week and I would find the money somehow. I called my attorney and he advised me to pay and wrote up a document for the man to sign which he did with a wittiness and notary. Things I didn’t know had I just paid him is that I never would have ask and she did was for his identification and that in the state of California if you’re dog is off leash you have to pay at least $10,000 for a dog bite even if there is no broken skin. That doesn’t include attorney and court cost. With that said pay now or later and a learn an expensive lesson. Keep your dogs on a leash. Animal control said that I was the most responsible person he met because most people don’t take responsibility and hide or get rid of their dogs if they bite someone. Yes we had to quarantine the dog but Animal Control allowed us to do it at home because he didn’t feel the dog really harmed the neighbor but he did knock him down because I saw the dog knock him down. The man was terrified as DK ran towards him and he jumped on him. All I kept thinking in the moment was thank God it was not a child because even though he wouldn’t have bitten anyone he likes jumping on you in a playful way and he’s not a small dog. I like to think I’m a responsible person and clearly as I told all it was my fault……

She never suggested that it was a malicious act. JJ was the one who concocted that scenario way before the trial had begun. I have seen a person carry their small dog into the dog park and when she deems it safe she does a scoop motion releasing her dog to jump readily down a a few feet and run around anxiously.

What I DO know for a FACT is this; unless it’s a service dog, LEAVE it at HOME where it belongs! I can’t even begin to count the number of times when I was either at Starbucks or at a restaurant and another person’s dog either tried to jump up or bother my children (One of them is afraid of dogs) OR they tried to beg for my food as I dined. If you want a dog like that in your home/coffee shop, when there are plenty of dogs that aren't bred for all that, 'nuff said about you.
