Jedi feared the dark side, feared attachments and actually feared quite a lot of stuff. However instead of confronting them and accepting, they wanted to hide, supress and pretend everything is fine. Kinda like Yoda faces his dark side self in Season 6 of Clone Wars, trying to fight and deny him made the dark side stronger. He finally accepted the truth which allowed him to defeat dark Yoda.
The problem wasn't that Yoda put all his eggs on Anakin's back enough to break him (metaphor mangling, I know), it's that Yoda didn't do enough to teach, train and RAISE Anakin to be a "proper" Chosen One for the Order. He was far too passive and wedded to the holding back of emotions to do right by Anakin.
Andrew Belton agreed. Anakin at his prime was in his fight with dooku. Not afraid to use the dark side of the force, but still did not let it control him.
Yoda in my opinion used the whole "Believe in the Force" kind of resolvement WAAAY to much. Like many others on the comments list, the Ahsoka Trial. Yoda said in the Clone Wars that maybe having Anakin take Ahsoka as a Padawan, he would learn disapline. He was right, but then the Trial. Yoda and Windu threw Ahsoka under the bus, kicked her out of the order with very little evidence, and then when Ahsoka's name is cleared, pull the bs line "Proving your innocence was the Way of the Force". No apology or humility. You literally blame the Force for your wrongdoing. Then then around and say Anakin failed his Padawan due to her leaving the order. No, Anakin didnt fail, Yoda and Windu did. Windu's disregard and disrespect for Anakin during his tenure as a Jedi didnt help matters either. Jedi are supposed to be compasionate and understanding and Windu was a dick towards Anakin. You can't claim to believe in the Chosen One, treat him with such disregard, then near the end of the Clone Wars, when he reveals the Dark Lord of the Sith, claim "If what you say is true, you'll have earned my trust". Like, seriously? What is the deal with these two highest members of the Jedi Order and being so blind to their own arrogance and stupidity?
There was actually a lot of evidence against Ahsoka, I mean she even escaped prison which basically confirms she was the perpetrator before the Council were forced to give her up. And it was only Mace that said the following "Proving your innocence was the way of the Force" etc. Plo Koon apologized on behalf of the Council by saying "you have our most humble apologies... the Council was wrong to accuse you". They never said Anakin failed his Padawan, Obi Wan even said later "it wasn't your fault" when Anakin blamed himself. Not saying the Order didn't fail Anakin, they did, but Anakin also failed himself, and everyone else. Windu treated Anakin like he did any other, the Council sensed his fears when he was a boy. Mace was always skeptical but they fought together on the battlefield, their relationship wasn't as bad as many make it out to be, sure they disliked each other but its not like they don't speak to one other either. Yoda and Mace (somewhat) believed in the prophecy but also remained wary as Yoda said "a prophecy, that misread it could have been". Mace was distrustful of Anakin because from the beginning he harbored many fears, Anakin was also close to the Chancellor who the Council were skeptical off. Now, Yoda and Mace were arrogant at times don't get me wrong, but people give them little credit and only see the situation from one point of view. it wasnt the dark side that clouded yodas judgement..it was the love of the halflings leaf, "hobbit weed" yoda used to talk completely normally until he experimented and used the force to smoke 200 pounds of weed in 3 days. then his first words were, "stoned, i am" and hes been talking like that ever since.
The Jedi were losing their power in foresight throughout the prequels, they even had to tell the Senate they could no longer see the future with clarity unlike before. Their abilities were being clouded, so too was their judgement.
I lost a LOT of respect for Yoda after Anakin went to him first, seeking his advice about his nightmares and his fears of losing Padme. Yoda just waved Anakin off - Yoda told Anakin to let go of his attachments. You know Anakin isn’t going to just forget about Padme. Yoda really failed Anakin.
@@thegreypath1777 True his advice wasn't what Anakin wanted, but Yoda has lived for 900 years. He has seen many people and friends pass away over his long lifetime, he knows a Jedi should not form attachments, and that was why Yoda said what he said.

I have no doubt they've given him exceptions later in life too just like with another Jedi named Rael Averross. if only yoda read the Sacred text like luke and rey did to be a better grand master also if he and windu just made anakin a master he may not of turned to the dark sided
Only the chosen one could push back the darksider... but he refused to train him, doubted the prophecy, and was a major component of Anakin’s fall. The truth is Yoda was responsible. Despite all of his wisdom he never corrected the problems he saw, believing that it would happen on on its own. He was a fool and a failure.
I never understood why Jedi where involved into the war. Supposed to be peacekeepers, now acting as generals and commanders. Especially involving force-sensitive kids. And how do the Jedi know so much about how to lead a war? Do they teach that in classes?
I feel both sides of this argument are right. Yoda wasn't doing enough to stop the spread of the darkness; for all his personal power as the so-called Avatar of Light, he failed. Not only did Yoda not do enough, he also made one blundering mistake after another; he didn't use his considerable influence within the Order to track down all the leads the Jedi had concerning Sidious. For all his wisdom, strategic failure was endemic on nearly every level; for just one example, Yoda put all his eggs on the Chosen One Anakin, yet he allowed Mace Windu to confront Palpatine without the Chosen One on whom Yoda placed all his hopes and dreams. There are plenty of other mistakes he made, as the channel has another video dedicated to Yoda's mistakes and "stupidity". And as the Grand Master of the Jedi, responsibility for their fall must rest ultimately with him. And yet, Yoda was ultimately in a tough position. The Sith had taken the Republic on his watch. He was facing the mastermind Palpatine, an intractable foe. Yoda was boxed in, outmaneuvered, and arguably overpowered by Sidious in single combat. So here is a thought: the Chosen One prophecy was the Force's acknowledgment that Yoda would fail. The Chosen One was a cosmic "Plan B," a contingency in the likelihood that Yoda would make too many mistakes and ultimately fail. Had Yoda been better, perhaps the prophecy would have passed into legend after Yoda successfully unmasked Palpatine, lay his crimes bare, and reformed the Jedi Order along the lines Luke Skywalker would eventually make.
Aw cheer up Yoda... we all knew shyt would go fubar on you and your order during your watch. Just chill out in your self appointed exile and put the liberation of the galaxy on the shoulders of a 19 year old boy. Then have this boy, who has only trained for about 6 months, go up against two of the most powerful force users in the galaxy. One of whom you couldn’t even best.
But Anakin did bring balance in the Force - for a millennia the Force was out of balance due to the dominance of the light side over the dark with thousands of Jedi compared with only two Sith. By destroying the Jedi Order he brought things into balance again with two Sith and two Jedi....... ;-)
Got the hint of an Alzheimer story, though Yoda was suspected to be reaching his limits and they were surprised he had any. 'When 900 hundred years you reach'
Öntas Bülent in my opinion yeah anakin was arrogant, but oh boy the way made windu sat comfortably in his council seat and just the way he acted in everything he did. Windu was extremely arrogant, just in a different way than anakin.
Jedi serve others right? Their misguided beliefs clashed with the will of the Force. Guess being selfless isn't always great...Such is an ironic poetry
One thing really bothers me and that is the persistent claim that the Jedi council should have given Anakin the rank of master and that that lead to the ultimate downfall of Anakin. Yes, the Jedi order f*cked up many times and were often unemphatic assholes towards Anakin and because of that are partly responsible for the events that happened, but first Anakin is not an innocent child but an adult who is responsible for his actions, so the jedi order is not the only one blame and second if we are honest, Anakin didn't earn the rank of master, he had the accomplishments but he had not gained the experience, wisdom and the moral standard yet, that one needs to become a master. And with moral standards i don't mean his attachments (having is no attachments or limiting them is a stupid rule), but his recklessness and his overall lacking in ethical behavior in general, for example slauthering the sand people or believing in an autocratic government. At the end Anakin is just a man child who sees only himself but not others, despite all his relationships. We can see this very clear when Ahsoka leaves the order and Anakin doesn't understand why she has to do that, his remarks shows, that he really doesn't get that her decision has nothing to do with him. So while Obi Wan has arguably accomplished less than Anakin, he was the perfect example of what a Jedi should be and that's why he became a Jedi master and Anakin not.
Clearly you didn't see the episode right. He admitted that he understood wanting to walk away from the Order. Obi Wan is a failure through and through.
@@animeman8203 Sure he admitted, he knows the feeling, wanting to run away from the order, but he questions Asokas decision multiple times in my memory, saying that asoka did a mistake. So no i don't think he understood, why asoka had to leave. Yoda are the regret of not doing nothing Deep down he probably could’ve stopped the sith He knows he’s done too much for the world and his order need to die off and make a new but also he knows that It was his fault for allowings Anakin to be trained He knows the age limit for today to be trained if they’re too old they have too much emotion and maybe he should change that rule and train him and himself know Jedi is perfect He has faith with the chosen one children’s instead but actually I could’ve gone to the unknown regions like mortis The fountain of knowledge the light side grants the person to believe of all the power of the force if you’re that drunk that fountain or paved in it he probably gotten his Younger years back to his prime and stop The Empire and destroy Sidious

it wasnt the dark side that clouded yodas judgement..it was the love of the halflings leaf, "hobbit weed" yoda used to talk completely normally until he experimented and used the force to smoke 200 pounds of weed in 3 days. then his first words were, "stoned, i am" and hes been talking like that ever since.
Heh.
Only the chosen one could have balanced the force but yet he still held back Anakin from being a master. Wow that came back to bite him.
For predictable jedi hubris then. Great video. Thanks.
So he knew he was messing up, but was more or less powerless to really do anything. This failing as a leader.
I know I lost a LOT of respect for Yoda in the entire prequels and clone wars. he cant foresee anything, and almost all of his decisions were wrong
@@josephcharles4549 Perhaps he should have made an exception for Anakin, the Chosen One?
@@AndrewMRoots They already made an exception when they accepted Anakin in the first place. I have no doubt they've given him exceptions later in life too just like with another Jedi named Rael Averross. Also its probably because people believed Anakin to be the Chosen One that they wanted him to follow the "rules" and set a good example, probably why they were most concerned with him being close to the Chancellor too.
Awesome star wars video
Man I don't think I've ever been this early. Loved the video.
Thank you for watching!
"He put too much confidence in the Chosen one""
sounds like me expecting someone else to do my work because I'm afraid I won't be up to the task and the other guy sounds like he can but I clearly know I should be doing more from my side
“Fear is the path to the dark side”
If yoda had trained anikan him self he may have defeated the dark side once and for all.
if only yoda read the Sacred text like luke and rey did to be a better grand master also if he and windu just made anakin a master he may not of turned to the dark sided
“Yoda yoda yoda .... causing some people in the order to believe yoda yoda yoda .... causing some Jedi to believe 😂
Do you think yoda’s leadership failed. I mean if you where a Jedi knight, would you still follow him?
I wouldn't. The man's incompetent.
Of course I would, his dedication to the light and to peace is undoubtable. His power and wisdom are legendary. Even if his leadership failed.
And he was right, he royally fuked up.
Did he repeat him self?
I never understood why Jedi where involved into the war. Supposed to be peacekeepers, now acting as generals and commanders. Especially involving force-sensitive kids. And how do the Jedi know so much about how to lead a war? Do they teach that in classes?
Give into your hate and anger.
Yoda didn’t have the moral high ground.
I left a like for *predictable jedi hubris*
You forget that at least a year has passed since TESB, and Yoda was dying.
Kicked my a$$ he did. Ran like coward I did. Don't walk no talk I did. I'm just a frog.
But Anakin did bring balance in the Force - for a millennia the Force was out of balance due to the dominance of the light side over the dark with thousands of Jedi compared with only two Sith. By destroying the Jedi Order he brought things into balance again with two Sith and two Jedi....... ;-)
If Yoda ever trained in the dark side we know he didn't have a a Sith teacher he had to train alone aa to not know the Sith Master plan.
For predictable Jedi hubris!
The more I learn about Yoda, the less I respect him.
What's with all the ketamine jokes?? What did I miss?
A sad and constant truth, the old being blamed by the young for the latter's increasing strife and instability in their inner and outer lives.
Got the hint of an Alzheimer story, though Yoda was suspected to be reaching his limits and they were surprised he had any. 'When 900 hundred years you reach'
This is Canon for me!
The arrogance and decline of the Jedi was Yoda‘s fault. He trained entire Generations of arrogant hypocritical Jedi.
@@pandawolf5990 how can they know right from wrong when there taken from there parents and raised into a cult like environment
Öntas Bülent in my opinion yeah anakin was arrogant, but oh boy the way made windu sat comfortably in his council seat and just the way he acted in everything he did. Windu was extremely arrogant, just in a different way than anakin.
@@haydeen6535 anakn and windu were very much alike
the only major difference was windu was in that position of power
@@haydeen6535 I hate the way he just sits there in such an arrogant way when he says that Anakin won't be trained in Episode I
Jedi serve others right? Their misguided beliefs clashed with the will of the Force.
Guess being selfless isn't always great...Such is an ironic poetry
Don’t carry such a heavy burden, Yoda!
Anakin failed all the jedi’s
Miquel Canosa Santeularia no. All the Jedi failed Anakin.
His skills with a saber alone shoulda propelled him straight to the Master rank in my opinion
And Obi Wan is not at fault for the order being shitty on people, also Obi Wan tries constantly to mediate between Anankin and the order, without Obi Wan Anakin would have left the order, long before the birth of darth vader.
Arrogant and complacent he allowed them to become. Paid with their lives he caused them. Solely responsible he was. Talk like him I am.
Baaaane
What do you think
If I was a jedi I would go for vote from the entire order not just the council I would go to every jedi and ask to get us out of the war and to look only for the sith if we are on a world that needs help we shall but not if it gets in the way of destroying the sith and I would move for a vote to move from corasunt and back to dantione jedi shouldn’t b on worlds like corasunt there is to many buildings and not enough nature
as a Kid, you see Yoda. He's advertised as one of the heroes. That's what we all assume
But when you grow up and look at Yoda as a character, They are not as great as we thought them to be.
Because he just sat on his bloody chair & mainly did fuck all when the sith were starting to take over more and more smh
Because he liked sand
He lost respect because he was an arrogant and politically corrupt leader, a leader the Jedi didn’t deserve or need
Yoda could’ve prevented order 66
Hey man i think you should rename this video
No no no! Jedi shouldn't be concerned about who respects who. That narcissistic attitude is what helped turn Anakin to the dark side. Remember when he wasn't made a master??? He was upset and the council members looked at each other like " what is wrong with this kid ". I gotta unsubscribe cause this Disney-Wars fake canon. I don't consider anything Disney-Wars as canon and this channel feeding into Disney's B.S. isn't for me.
Absolutely, Yoda was so scared of the dark side instead of embracing it a bit
I thought yoda doesn’t fear cause that’s blah blah blah darkside
If you listen closely. He repeats the same stuff but worded differently about 3-4 times
The clone war was devastating for Yoda because it shown a spotlight on him .
The illusion of his superiority was shattered by reality .
The galaxy always thought that he was so wise , but his repeated failures in the war proved that he was a fool .
Everyone thought that he was infallible , but the war proved otherwise .
Everyone thought that he was the most powerful being in the galaxy , but the war proved otherwise .
The war showed the galaxy that all of the hype surrounding Yoda was nothing but that......... just hype .
"Barriss Offie! Member of the Jedi Order! And traitor!" "My attack on the Temple was an attack on what the Jedi have become. An army fighting for the Dark Side!" Ashoka "this is why people have lost faith in the Jedi! I did too". Anakin Skywalker. Sidious says "you're not sure of their intentions". Mace Windu! "We must keep an eye on our old friend". Count Dooku, which is why he left the Jedi Order. Luke Skywalker, thought Yoda could not be trusted after learning Darth Vader was his father and Yoda and Obi-Wan wanted Luke to kill his father.
Also, the Jedi knew the Sith had returned, but did nothing for ten years! They did nothing about the Sith until they discovered that Dooku was a Sith, but even then finding Dooku was not their first concern! Some Jedi knew this and no doubt loat their confidence in Yoda and his leadership.
Oof
