Sometime between aged 25 and 45 I lost the ability to ride no hands. It probably went away while sitting in the office and losing my core strength. Dunno. I will try these exercises to get it back, thanks!
Tried the hover technique, didn’t really ever seem comfortable or stable, so I said “Eff it.” and just sat up. Well, I didn’t crash 💥. It worked! Thanks for this video.
Excited for this new segment. I want to learn how to mount faster on my bike. I see other cyclists mounting like a pro by just putting their one foot on the pedal. Please consider this, Zach!
Two feet on the ground, grab your handlebars, stand your bike up on her rear wheel, with your top tube parallel with your body, start walking while simultaneously lowering your front wheel to the ground.
Some other tips for people: Speed is really important, the centrifugal force of the wheels will help you stay upright. Having a decently fast cadence helps a lot, your legs rotating quickly means you can adjust in specific locations subconsciously easier. Leaning all the way back like Zach also makes it easier. More weight on rear wheel usually means you control the bike better.
When I ride no hands for a good period or just want more control, I position myself as far back on the saddle as comfortably as i can go. The extra precision for being that far back over the rear wheel is unreal
this! its an overlooked part of no hand riding. my bike keeps steering on its own even when holding it with both hands and it turns out the headset just needed some tightening
I had one day learned successfully to no hand bike comfortably, only to find the couple of next day i couldnt do it anymore. Later found out something wrong with the headset. Fixed it but never find the confidence again to ride no hand
one time, i was just out with my friends for a weekly ride (bare in mind we were all new to cycling and had horrid balance) and all of a sudden, my helmet felt a tad bit loose. out of instinct, i felt like i had switched to auto pilot mode and i went to adjust my helmet with both my hands, my friends thought i was a wizard
@@bggines_1260 my advice is to find a wide space with no traffic and gain some speed while slowly removing your hands from the handlebars, that’s how my friends learnt it. (update, 9 months later and we acquired more buddies to ride with and we are considered “seasoned”)

Flowing with traffic! I came across some cycling RUclipsr's that complain about people, cars, roads while riding through traffic. But if they would just adapt their riding style togo witht he flow, they would have much less issues!
3 tips that comes in handy ! Tip 1 : instead of hovering use 1 single preferred finger to hold the handlebar when u are not ready yet for hovering Tip 2: Speed is key !! the faster u go , the more the bike is stabilised and less chance to abruptly swerve Tip 3: try to peddle real steady while balancing , 1 slight move with ur knee and u dont go fully straight anymore 😄 good luck
When I was younger, I could never really grasp it Turns out I was riding really unbalanced bikes The moment I got myself a half decent bike that wasn’t a hand me down, it came natural and easy the first time I tried on a good bike. Now I’m turning corners and weaving through traffic no hands 😂 mind you, when I say traffic, it’s not very dense, certainly no NYC etc I Do have a slight contest on the “always keep your eyes ahead of you” My heads on a swivel when I ride, I’m looking ahead, down all the side streets, behind me, my ‘blind spot’ I guess. I’m always paying attention. If Car drivers did what they were supposed to do and Obeyed road rules, I wouldn’t have to do this, but I’m surrounded by bad drivers, and I’d rather be in control of my own fate, then leaving it up to chance or a driver who isn’t paying attention or doesn’t care.
Can you do a vid on turninga road bike into a fixed gear? Is that even possible? I got a sweet Fuji ten speed that I think would be great. I’m new to the fixed gear think if you can’t tell
Check out a channel called "RJ The Bike Guy." I put a link below. Note, he has several fixie and single speed conversion videos. ruclips.net/video/sInijI1vr34/видео.html
I dig the new format. Riding no hands is definitely important for understanding how your bike steers. Its also a bit of fun trying to ride up hills or over bumps no hands.
My tip is to shift the weight to the rear of the saddle at a minimum speed of 20 km/h, lighten the front wheels, and grab the front of the saddle to secure steering and driving torque. To do this, the saddle must be at the rear of the bike and the front of the saddle must be higher than the rear of the saddle. In addition, the saddle should be installed high because you need to be able to extend your legs when pedaling. Hands-free riding is similar to the technique of unicycle or wheelie riding. I ride 15 kilometers hands-free for at least 30 minutes every day. It is a very refreshing experience. 😎 I am recording and uploading these beautiful videos every day.🖖
In my case the bike just immediately but slowly starts leaning to one side and I don't know how to correct it I'll try going faster and maybe sitting more upright
i think the fact the bike wheel corrects itself at high speed ( angular momentum ) is a pretty key point, that most people dont understand...a bike is balanced via motion...and even if you werent even on the bike and let it go down hill it would go straight and stay stood up...although i would never test this with my own bike ;)
maybe not 3 minute video. videos on bicycle touring, training for 100 mile rids with 6000 feet of climbing... training for racing etc... I'm interested on how you train for a 50 to 100 mile ride with over 5000 feet of climbing..
Very nice tutorial, but the bike type is almost the polar opposite of what I'm riding (trekking and hardtail mtb) - how does the bike geometry factor in? There's only ever been one bike I could ride hands free, all others were not inherently stable at all.
So i realy hope u see this.... what u need is a Dutch grandma bike. I can buy and build one for u, for FREE ofcorce. Let me know if ur interested. Google omafiets if u wanna learn more about the bike😉
