I love the new map it’s pretty and having buff able pets is cool and cute however that’s all there is, it’s pretty lackluster imo especially since I finished everything the main game has to offer, I was hoping for a new dungeon and a new tool upgrade or at least a new quest to play. I definitely wanted a new house with plot and new animals. Hopefully the next will be better.

Definitely underwhelmed! I was expecting the new area to have everything the unlocked areas had in the main game - a new mine/dungeon with a few new monsters, a new boss quest line, new mine resources, a new farm with a handful of new seeds, a couple new critters to catch, a couple animals to care for and breed… all that would feel like $10 worth. But $10 for a single new tool feature? Cmon…
As explained in the video, it was not free for everybody. Only for switch players and those that bought the deluxe edition on PC. PC players that only bought the standard edition has to buy the DLC. It's broken down in the video...
I don't think its a bad price, considering a skin in most games ranges from $10-$30 or more. Even Sunhaven sells skins for $5-$10. This dlc def has more than a "skin" worth of content imo. What you describe sounds more like an expansion, or DLC that would cost at least $20-$30.

I bought Sun Haven for $25 and have never bought skins/expansions for it, because the base game feels plenty full of content to me. I personally feel like Fae Farm doesn't have as much content as either SV or SH which have much lower price points. So maybe my perspective is just that of someone who's used to the prices of two decades ago lol.
Your videos are great!!! I didn't understand the whole DLC. I honestly didn't realize that you could change your companions. (And equip them with different trinkets...) I got tired of the bugs being so cranky that I just used the frogs because they were so polite!!!😂 I just thought it was cute to have a little buddy follow you around!
I already notticed glitches. And quality of life updates So petting farm animals now has its own ring of area which makes interacting with them very clear and you dont get slid over to your animals while collecting eggs. The trinkets attatched to the new critters followers, can be overwritten and DELETED. So if you put a trinket ontop of a trinket, it destroys the previous instead of returning it to pcokets. If you have a baby animal following with a following critter, the critters glow animation starts to zigzag all over the screen, while your follow is invisible/gone, so the effect goes haywire. The new ability to swap equipment is nice, but the icons can glitch while hsing magic so i had 4 fishing poles showing and i didnt know which one was my watering can. There are no new wings....
Apologies for the mini rant,, but I have one more critique as I play this DLC. I know this may be a plus for many, but I am NOT a platformer player these days. The amount of precisely timed leaps you need to make in Croakia is driving me nuts. I spend ten minutes falling down mountains into the water, get all the way back up, and then just as I think I’ve reached a new area, the game yanks me into bed for the night. Aaaaargh.. 🤬
To be brutally honest, the game itself has been mostly toothless aside from the mine delving gameplay loop, and I think Croakia could've been great if it'd had... any plot at all, or any meaningful dialog, or another mine, or *something* besides just one new mechanic and a repeat of the exact same collect-a-thon we had with the Almanac. Faefarm as a whole is visually beautiful and about as deep as a puddle, with lots of design choices (like the fact that even all-season crops wither because a number on the calendar ticked over from 30 to 1) that are annoying at best. I'm having a lot of fun with faefarm, but not $60 worth of fun, and since I'm on switch the mod community won't be able to save the experience. I'd tell past me to save my money lol.
Really grateful for this video. I bought the standard game on pc so I could see the dlc and decide whether or not to buy based on content. From what you've shown, I will skip it for now. I may pick it up later if the next dlc looks worth getting. Since I've played through the main game, I can't see that this has brought anything worthwhile at this late stage. It should have been there from the start in my opinion. Very disappointed tbh. Wanted more main story and another mine with additional quests, etc. Thanks so much for sharing this and your valuded opinion. It has really helped me make up my mind to wait and see what the next dlc brings before I purchase. I have other games I'm enjoying atm so am happy to wait 😁❤
This is 12.99CAD and while that is not much, I agree with you...I wish there was more. But the new furniture is very tempting. Considering the full game went on 30% sale, I am hoping this will be on a bit of sale soon. The trinkets are useless for late game but great for players starting out now. I just need to keep fishing to get that to level 20. I appreciate having the more XP as it was so frustrating before.

Ngl, I found it underwhelming myself. And the bugs…yikes! My almanac is blank, and when making recipes, everything shows up as an unknown item. We have to wait until the 19th of this month for a patch.
In a nutshell - it's not worth it. I knew it would be bad when the "trailer" they posted for the DLC was barely even a trailer at all. Personally, I stopped playing the main game after like two weeks and the only reason I kept playing that long was because I'm a completionist and I wanted all the flower-crossbreeds. Without those, I would've stopped playing after I finished the game - which took me barely even a week, if at all. This entire game is not worth it imho and the "writing" and characters in it are a freaking joke, especially compared to other (much cheaper) games like Coral Island. I could not tell you one character's name from Fae Farm anymore, that's how diverse and memorable they are. I'm honestly surprised people are still playing it at all.
Honestly I’m with you on this one Jade. Underwhelmed. The location is lovely as is typical for this game, and the new critters are cute. (The whole broom riding thing is indeed adorable but I find it distracting so tend to use critters that can fly on their own as companions). But also typical is the limited and stilted dialogue, although being threatened by a butterfly was novel. lol. I was really disappointed when my “husband” continued to say the same repetitive things he said before we were married and still won’t come in our house. I’ve heard the vendors say some new things so I’m going to check that out. As someone who had already played through the main story line, and achieved most of what I wanted to do in the main game, the new trinkets don’t mean much. I got the top level of the mining buff trinket, but the rest don’t really interest me. I have a bursting storage shed already. (And just found out that it is NOT bottomless as we thought) A fishing trinket would be helpful I guess but I’m not sure if there is one. Has anyone checked to see if they gave us the ability to make hybrid flower seeds at the garden bench? That and the fix for repeatedly petting the same animal they did give us would be helpful. My bottom line for this DLC is that it may be useful for those who are only part way through the main game. But for those of us who have already pretty much maxed out everything the game had to offer it doesn’t mean much. I wish they had fixed more things that were problematic. I don’t think I’ve explored every inch of Croakia yet. Keep hoping to stumble onto a mine or plot somewhere but it doesn’t look promising. So people have tried to put things in storage and it won’t leave their backpack. If they reduce say the number of stone or tomatoes they have it has no effect on making more room. But if they reduce individual items, like turn all their different fish into filets, they can add to storage again. Shrug. I’m just trying to keep down the number of slots I’m using and it’s working so far.
The did actually raise the storage limit by a lot in this patch. But the area overall was underwhelming. It also breaks my heart that no other NPCs ever visit.. Especially Argyle. You think he would be there all the time. But no he just sits sad on the beach as always 😢

This “dlc” was some BS! I finally got around to trying it now and maxed the new tool within 5 minutes considering there’s no new items or mines to get through, I already had all the resources from the main game. The new “area” doesn’t have its own map, no new mine, no new resources, nothing! Just 2 new characters with very quick dialogue and one has a shop. I can’t even grind for the trinkets bc they’re all showing unlocked already! What’s the point in me grinding resources to unlock something that already shows highlighted as if I crafted it already? What a let down
I’ve dabbled a bit on the dlc but I’m new to the game so I feel like I need to progress with the base game before going back to Crokia. At least I have it on Switch so yeah didn’t pay extra. I followed your guide for getting colours for the animals & it’s not working. Only standard colour animals seem to get born. The charms aren’t doing a thing for me.
I recommend you keep trying with the fae animals. I have been able to get colored spriggans and lunens. There have been various bugs in the game relating to animals so if it's not working, I also recommend reporting it to the devs. ;-) Good luck!
The switch had a full week trial with the whole game open back in Nov/Dec. I liked it a lot - it help me decide to get it. But that price - I would not pay full price, wait for a sale. With that said, I like a lot of aspect of this game.
I always feel like such a Negative Nelly when it comes to Fae Farm, which is a shame because it's SO adorable to look at, and I was seriously hooked initially, but the actual story line (which I finished back in September) and now this DLC... *sigh* Yes, underwhelmed. I have animal companions in DDV that are super cute, as well (although the broom-riding is extra adorable, I agree), even if they don't give any buffs, and the story line is much, much deeper with tons of quests, lots of changing dialogue, expanded story lines/back stories, it's all around a much deeper game. It's also more expensive, so there's that, but I feel like it's worth it for what you get. Fae Farm is beautiful and adorable, but there's just not that much substance propping it up. I don't feel like I need to dive back into it.
i liked fae farm but it felt a bit shallow. like crops having the exact same effects/values in all seasons felt like it was worthless to plant any in winter if you have made enough in the previous seasons. also if you handled the mines clever, they were SO easy to finish with almost no combat and no use of any buff potions too. when i was reaching the end of the game it felt really repetitive and i was almost happy to be finished with the last mine so i could lay the game down. i had no motivation to do any more in it, not even decorating and i usually love decorating. to me the dlc doesn't seem like it's worth it, it looks like it's just grinding critters for almost no reason. if you had played the game before you don't need those trinket boosts at all.

mine is the same, even the mines show unknown items. Luckily I already finished them but I now have to google which floor to mine the gems I need.

Coral Island has some great mining opportunities as well. I love going mining in Coral Island.

These buffs are kind of pointless for those who’ve completed the game. It would have been great at the beginning. I loved the main game though.
