The good, the bad and the ugly:
Good things:
- Big, clean room
- Excellent central location with it's own beach, very close to the Soi Green Mango bar area
- The main Ark Bar pool and beach is the focal point for many for the daytime and nighttime party scene, so you are right at the heart of the action
- 3 pools including the world famous Party Pool
- 2 nice big restaurants right on the beach with good views
- Plenty of staff around if you need anything
- 7-Eleven, Burger King and McDonald's are right on your doorstep
- In the daytime there were dozens of scantily clad ladies showing off the latest in bikini fashion here. Wear sunglasses guys ;)
- Guest friendly, no extra charges for bringing back a lady
The bad
- Not much privacy for some ground floor rooms with 100s of people walking past your room daily
- No fitness center, but this seems standard for most hotels in Chaweng
- Be aware planes fly overhead from around 6am to 10pm, but this is standard for central Chaweng.
- Bar noise, the music plays from 2pm-2am and the rooms closest the beach are more affected by this (best to specify if you want a quiet or noisy room)
- Fellow guests might be loud and obnoxious, but this is a lottery really...
The Ugly:
- So many rules, if you break some you could find yourself out of pocket by a few thousand baht of even kicked out of the resort!
Overall: I really liked the Ark Bar Beach Resort and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. It certainly was a memorable place to stay and it was great to be right in the heart of the action.
I was very surprised how nice my room was for a party hotel, as I was expecting much less. I really liked eating breakfast / lunch at the Ark 2 restaurant, the food was ok and the views were good.
I liked the party pool, it was great to have a few beers sitting at the swimming pool bar in the sunshine...
I recommend Ark Bar Beach Resort to younger visitors (18-30) or more open minded travellers. It's definitely not a place for everyone and I can see how many people could be put off by the noise which resonates through the resort from 2pm-2am. I really liked it though :)

If they played the chill out tracks during the day I’d consider going there! Just not a fan of a continuous pulsing beat at all times!
The music selection is amazing on your channel, love hearing your picks throughout the years. That, and how you never show your face and do this all on 1 canon gx7 mkII(or whatever) is mind blowing. No drone, no go-pro, no $4,000 camera w/a $1,500 lense. Always calm and relaxing to watch your channel and a cool bonus when we get to hear you speak with the locals. Keep up the good work :)
Great job on the in-depth review. It's definitely a happening place, but I'd rather get the cheapest room they have and spend the difference on freelancers :)
I'm not arguing with you, but then before Covid-19 there was a great hotel, there was a great restaurant, I dined there many times and there were great parties! Already after it was possible to travel to Thailand, after the pandemic, after ArkBar started working there, it’s not as cool as it used to be¡ I hope everything will come to life. Have been to Koh Samui many times before Covid-19 both in January 2023 and April 2023, always on Chaweng Beach, beloved Koh Samui and Chaweng Beach.
Now this is what a hotel review should be like. Spot on my friend. Was looking at this resort but after seeing this video, I'll pass. Gotta have the sunset. Would be banging if you finally got to the resorts on the western and northern side and reviewed them. Will be in krabi in October and would love to visit Samui. Never been.
Good video. I like that you showed the map of where it is along with prices for everything as well as the rules etc. It looks like a nice place but mostly for a younger western crowd. The breakfast options are a good idea.
Stayed there 4 times.
Upside: Nice rooms, very clean and smells fresh. All rooms have a balcony. Friendly and helpful staff. Located smack in the middle of the night life. Beach is 10-70m away from the room. They have pretty good food, both Thai and western. On busy nights there is freelancers roaming, if you are in to that thing.
Downside: The music. If you don't like dance/house music playing from 9-10 am to 2-3am. Don't even bother tbh.
The prize of everything is pretty expensive, the room, the laundry service, food and drinks.
If you choose to stay here my tip is to book a room on the far right side of the hotel(left side of the map in the video) where you check in in the smaller reception around the corner. I believe it's the south side of the hotel, close to the tree bar. Those rooms are significantly more quiet than the rooms close to the pool area.
This is exactly the review I needed to see regarding this resort. I have reserved a Premiere Deluxe Room for February. It looks like a great time is had by all those that choose to stay here! How do you think this area holds up against Pattaya?

First of id like to thank you Bkk112 for some great vids and content, i came across youre channel a few days ago. Really good stuff, for someone like myself going to have my first trip to Thailand in november going to be solo traveling, and was actually looking at ARK Bar Resort to stay for part of the trip, So this is more or less prefect timing(mark up for the the timing), since ill be booking over the next few days, And am planing on spending some time on Koh Samui, for some beach chillen, this place looks like it will do nicely. **On a side note** Ive pretty mutch been clicking next .. one after another on yer videos non stop past few days ha ha ! Great stuff! So again thank you and keep up the good/fun work you do !

Good review, I once stayed at the same spot before it was Ark Bar back in 2004. Stunning part of the beach.
There are all-included resorts in Turkey (Antalya & Mersin) for a similar 70-80$ / day. Food, internet access and all drinks are free.

boss ark bar was not guest friendly for me, probably because you were alone. i tell you because i paid minimum 3000 baht 😂🙈 nice hotel for party people, centre of nightlife, and quite nice beach . regarding the ark bar staff yep there‘s a lot, the night security guards became our friends 😅 never noticed the tree bar in my 10 days at arkbar...
You have to be alone for the guest friendly thing to work. This is because the max occupancy of nearly all hotel rooms in Thailand is 2 by law. I liked the Ark bar and would definitely stay again. Thanks for watching :)
I like me music, would not mind a couple of nights there but at 53 years old might be too old. Just that i still like the music. Not a poser just a music freak. A beer/cola or whatever one drinks always tastes better with a band ,DJ, singer, i dont care which.
back in 2000 that was a tiny shack on the beach with 3 little rooms, loved it then but too big now, and still owned by Mario (an Austrian ex chef) and his Thai (ex) gf

never stayed there , but walked through the place and had drinks at the bar ,
was always concerned about noise and heaps of people using it as a party zone,
maybe its not as bad as i imagined to stay

Here's my question and I am genuinely curious; why go all the way to Thailand just to spend time around mostly other caucasians? Sorta defeats the whole purpose if you ask me. I'd rather go to a place that was mostly Thai. Heck, I can go to Destin Florida and be at the beach with other white people if I want that. Just my humble opinion.

koh samui is really expensive than pattaya
worst thing about ArkBar is the horrible music over there, somewhat between EDM and dubstep. Not like I had something against electronic music, which is my life, but ArkBar's DJs (or their music) are the worst. Why not chill deep/progressive house or just some proper techno? Sound Club closed too as we painfully learned last month, leaving you basically nowhere to go at Samui if you're after clubbing :( Next year, no Samui for me I guess.
