There are lots of lake gardens within and around KL. Those "lakes" are old tin mines. Inside KL they used to do hydraulic mining - using high pressure water jets to strip the hills. The wastewater ponds became lakes. Around KL they used to do dredge mining - they would deliberately flood a valley to be able to float a dreadging boat and then dredge the muddy bottom for tin. Those dredging ponds also became lakes. As the city started to expand and people build housing around those lakes the developers turned them into lake gardens. Partly as an attraction to sell houses but also to fulfill the green lung requirement for building permits. The green lung requirement started with British town/city planners requiring construction projects to reserve some percentage of land for greenery - either fields or gardens etc. The reasoning is for the greenery to provide clean/fresh air. It's part of the reason why KL is so green.

@@benfishermin check out FRIM in Kepong as well.
FRIM stands for Forest Research Institute of Malaysia. They maintain a forest park just outside of the city in Kepong. The forest park located next to Bukit Lagong Forest Reserve which also inhabited by Orang Asli (native tribe). You know Malay, Chinese and Indians already but i bet you havent heard about Orang Asli. You’d be surprised that these native tribes lives outskirts of Kuala Lumpur in areas such as Bukit Lagong and Bukit Lanjan (part of Damansara Perdana township) Trivia: The developer bought the land from the native tribes and gave them modern houses in return.

Hello Ben, I enjoyed your documentary. I was cracking up when you said why mouse deer it's call that, probably a mouse and a deer mated. That was cute. Some of your comments are very amusing.
