My uncle and his rig were extras in the convoy scene of the movie. I have a picture of my uncle and CW McCall. The movie had a call out for truckers so my uncle jumped at the opportunity. I’m 53 and I have my dvd copy of this movie. A true trucker classic.
Ruhe in Frieden Kris. Danke für unzählige Hammermässige Countrysongs aus Deiner Feder. Halte die Räder auch im Himmel immer am laufen. Du bist eine Legende und tief in unseren Herzen verankert.🙏
Agreed. Saw it as a kid back in 1978. Never thought about the original truck still being around. Assume a replica and a good stuntman were used at the end of the movie as special effects did not exist at today's levels, and obviously neither did CGI and green screen.
That is true of most Mack trucks historically. In addition to tractor-trailers, Mack makes smaller class 7/8 trucks (they compete with International, Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge in the just-below-tractor-trailer classes) - we have a rather large number in the DC suburbs - doing duty in the trades - such as cement mixer front ends, or toting gravel (aggregate) or even (don't laugh!) dirt. In my immediate area (southern suburbs if Washington DC) it's Chaney Enterprises that has a lot of these *smaller* Macks.
@@PGHammer21A they run Mack’s because nothing takes the weight directly on the chassis like a Mack will. He was going to a truck show and came through Commerce , Ga . I was working at a truck stop at the time and he came there with a flat tire. My favorite truck I ever got to work on.
I saw this truck many years ago several times when I used to run through Georgia going to the ball plant across the street from where the complete unit was parked. Stopped one day and took several pictures of it

Spider Mikes Diamond T was pretty cool also. Hello from the U.K. after the war we ended up with some of them. Nearly all of em ended up as wreckers. Now that was one tough truck. I wish you all well in these awful times and stay safe. My love to you all.
We got a great big convoy rocking through the night! Yeah we got a great big convoy ain't she a beautiful sight! Come on and join our convoy ain't nothing gonna get in out way! We gonna roll this trucking convoy across the USA! Convooooyyyyy! Convooooyyyyy!

I grew up listening to the song convoy, not the bullshit radio one, but the one he done for the movie, no other song will beat it, and with Kristofferson driving it's fuckin cool.
Truck is amazing, congratulations and well done for preserving legacy and Americana cultural history, it’s really awesome indeed priceless one of a kind experience to own a such legendary truck , I drive Road train in Australia 🇦🇺 all the best
The best movie ever made,I've seen it over 200 times and still watch it. Hats off to Kriss Krissofferson you played the DUCK brilliantly. Would love one of ya shirts in a 6xl 👍👍👍
It's time again brother the world needs your support more than ever before in my lifetime.. Bring on the rubber duck.. Cometh the day Cometh the warrior.
I'm a retired trucker after 37 years and for most of my career, I drove Macks of all different kinds and there's nothin' like a Mack. I wrote a little song about it. (sung to the tune of "Turkey in the Straw" Want to hear it? Hear it Go. I got a one stack Mack with a window in the back, it's a 5-speed Mack so I run it with the Tach, It's got a Py-ro-meter so I don't overheat her, so I can make it back with my One Stack Mack. Anyone that drove those old Macks will know what I'm talkin' about.
Texas...Dawn, and the charter was on and the pitts in Alverez town. I love that scene before they destroy the town, where all the trucks are lined up in that field blowing their horns ready for battle...
Glad to see it out and about. If it ever goes back to a museum, it almost certainly should go to the Mack truck company museum in Allentown PA. Either that or maybe Iowa 80. There is still one of those Macks out there on the road last I read. It was turned into a dump truck and several people have tried to buy it with no luck. Bruhn brothers trucking also bought Pigpen's Mack Cruiseliner after the movie and put it to work. It was laid over on its side by one of their drivers hauling a heavy load and wrecked beyond repair.
Hey he did great in the re-make A Star is Born. Jeez---he was considered a kid at that age. Now I believe he's in his 80s. LONG LIVE THE DUCK! Too bad there wasn't a sequel!! To 'Convoy'.
God forbid if anything was to happen to Kris Kristofferson but in my humble opinion this truck should be what is used to take him to his resting place. He'll always be my childhood ideal for this movie.
Wasn't the truck that rolled over in the turn Black Widows?? If I remember right Pig Pens truck was a Cab Over. I'm a truck driver and I love seeing those old Macks, Pete's and KW's still rolling up the miles!!!😀😀😀
Seems like you could have at least conducted the interview in an area where there wasn't so much damn noise in the background... Jeezzz. That noise messed up the entire interview. Just sayin'.
In 1977 I was stationed in New Mexico at Holloman Air Force Base Near White Sands. One day on base I passed a long line of Semi's and several tan cop cars parked along the street. On one flatbed was the front section of a black Mack truck with poles sticking off it's roof. Only later after seeing the movie Convoy did I realize what I had seen. It was production vehicles from the movie including the cab used for closeups of Kristofferson and MacGraw. The poles would have held the cameras.
@Mi No you would be surprised with a long slide on the 5th wheel you can throw alot of weight to the front axle. Drove a mack cruise liner cab over with a 260 W B long, slide you could really move the weight to the front

The tanker was a empty tank the underside was hollow

I'm glad it's still being cared for. As a kid, RD's Mack was as iconic as any movie car.
I agree but the black wheels are just shitty taste
