Even with 5 months of digestive issues, I won't even go to a dr because of their usual inability to diagnose it without months of tests & treatments that will make it worse. I've found remedies online for other problems but changing my diet to no sugar/carbs-grain & decreased dairy has at least removed most all my inflamation/bIoat . I think this will take a long time tho 😓

As a physician, I 100% agree with you! What really bothers me is that most large medical organizations have serious conflicts of interest yet are seen as the gospel-truth authorities on all medical issues. If we have evidence to the contrary and have a healthy discussion about it, then some (people and social medical platforms) are quick to wrongly say that we're propagating medical misinformation. I appreciate your candor and believe your content is the message people need to hear if they want to be healthy.

My son just lost 35lbs on carnivore diet (which I was against). I just started a week ago. Genetic heart failure, & gained 50lbs from Coreg. I was always athletic & thin prior. I got arrhythmias from it, so added a teaspoon of lime juice (ascetic acid) to my fish, drink a small serving of coconut water (potassium), and soaked my feet in Epson salt (Magnesium) & added a shaving of garlic (sulfer), plus Iodized salt. Feeling great now w/ electrolytes straight, & just eating beef+seafood+eggs. Once I lose the core body fat, I'll switch back to smaller portions of healthy & complete diet. I already never drink soda etc.

@@Christinesobsevations Also there is more and more stuff in the "fake meat" area - a lot of it actually pretending to be real meat, rather than manufactured soy etc.
Today a work group of us have booked for lunch at a restaurant. I downloaded the menu. Everything is like "pork belly on a bao bun" etc. They have SIX vegan options and only one mainly pure meat. I could have a dozen oysters for AU$28 or a scotch fillet "cooked to your liking" with chips and salad for AU$43. In other words, $172 per kg - I know it will be a very thin piece of meat of about 220g that is impossible to cook rare (as they tell you when you try to order it rare). Or there is stuff covered in crumbs, or meat parcelled out on a pizza, etc etc.
No wonder I'd rather be home with a 380g grassfed New York striploin from the supermarket, no seed oil, for $17 - however great the ambience and the view.
PS I contacted them and asked for sausages and bacon ("sides" on their breakfast menu) - or, I said, I don't want to be a nuisance, I wouldn't mind just attending but not ordering anything if that is too hard to do. 😏 In other words, FASTING! rather than eating crummy/crumby food.
PS - Reporting back. They were GREAT. The kitchen thought it was a hoot. Made me a great big plate of everything meat, plus fetta.

Yesterday morning I got a blood test and my doctor almost exploded - my triglycerides were 3x times what they were 3 months ago and my HDL dropped a bit. I've been strictly carnivore for the last 3 months. I told her OK, let's put the breaks on. I didn't know I was gonna do a blood test at 7:30am and I had eggs, bacon and beef burgers for dinner last night at 11pm. So today morning I did the blood test again, but properly, fasted. My HDL came up and my trigs went down to exactly the level I had before. It was a simple issue of not doing a blood test 8 hours after eating a bunch of fat. I didn't eat for 2 days and it wasn't even a problem, my LDL was slightly up cause I'm losing weight and the fat is being drained into the blood to be carried around and used for fuel, as there's no carbs or sugar.
So if you're carnivore and you do OMAD and suddenly a blood test shows your trigs have skyrocketed and HDL went down, don't panic. I Googled for 30 minutes and found out that many people experience that, get scared, but also found an article from a guy who measured his lipids in many data points after eating, throughout the day and found that trigs come down to your normal level some 12-14 hours after eating. So don't do random one-data-point blood tests and panic cause you may have done it wrong. Try fasting for 12-14 hours and then check. And then do it right more times through a time period to be able to get to any reasonable conclusion.
I just goes to show how important it is to do these tests right and not simply whenever you feel like it and do it wrong at that. Yesteday I would have been put on meds, told I'm gonna have a heart attack and that I'm sick. Today, nobody would bat an eye. And that just one day difference and simply not eating fat for 12 hours before a lipid test.

68 year old carnivore over 5 years now. Been daily fasting 16-20 hours for four years. For the past year, I eat Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. My fast starts around 4pm. Prior to the fast day, and ends the day after fast days around 10-11 am. My heart is fabulous. My overall health is the best ever. Wish I'd learned all this stuff 30 years ago. At this very moment, I'm about 30 hours away from completing a 120-hour fast. Not passing out. No chest pains. No dizziness. Not shaking like a wet Chihuahua. Not starving to death. Not curled up in the fetal position & sobbing uncontrollably. I feel fine & have plenty of fat left in the belly pantry to live off of for another week if I opted to go that long. However, for the record, going without ANY food for this long ain't easy - I'm just under 4 days into this fast while running on only water, Mountain Dew Zero, a daily multivitamin, and big-man belly blubber. I'm hoping I'll drop another 10 pounds by lunchtime this Friday to put me at the minus-50 mark since January 1st. So, obviously, I could give a cloudy snot bubble what negative crap the AHA has to say about fasting - there's too much info available out there proving otherwise, including my own experiences. Thanks for setting the record straight, Doc Berry! Keep calling out the bullcrap when you see it!

Thinking IF works pretty damn good! I’ll stick with it to lose my total loss goal of 111.8 pounds. IF will help me maintain too.

As of this morning 76.8 pounds lost…. Fasting helped me do it. Now at 200 pounds…. From 276.8 pounds. Only 35 more to go. Started December 7, 2023. Calorie deficit, walking 10,000 steps a day (5 miles) 6 to 7 days a week some weightlifting and fasting one to two days a week. Also recently incorporated OMAD, one meal a day.

Awesome. Did you do it for weight reduction or autophagy? Hearing many folks using it to clear out the plaque from their blood vessels. There are expensive tests which tell you how much plaque there is and many do the test before and after. Big question is fast for how long and how often and still prevent malnutrition. A recent big fasting mimicking test with daily testing suggested that near zero results for first 4 days. But they never let a session run for more than 7 days. Don't know how often they allowed their test subjects to do this. Thanks for sharing.

I have been fasting all my life since I never eat breakfast. Not knowing I fasted every day at least for 16 hours but now that I'm aware of it and the benefits it gives to my Type2 I'm doing it for 18-20 hours/day together with a low carbo diet. AND THE RESULTS ARE SHOWING FAST!!! Greetings from Italy😊

I have recently had 2 bouts of Gout in one month. I have read Keri is not the best for having Gout. I really want to stay on the Keto. Any recommendations would greatly be appreciated!! Thanks

I skimmed an article that said something about a 91% increased risk of heart issues from IF. When I saw it was from the AHA I was, WTF? I didn't look into it because I'm not educated enough but I knew doctors like you would break it down for us. THANKS AGAIN!!
As far as what I think the reasoning is behind this, I have no idea. Like I said, I am terribly undereducated. I do know that I felt super healthy after quitting carbs, dropping 50 pounds and eating once a day.. I have no idea if I'm doing damage but at 72, I don't ever go to the doctor. and although retired, I still physically work my ass off daily.

my cardiologist is still recommending the Standard American diet with lots of fiber along with my gastroenterologist. They also want me to lower my salt intake as well. I politely tell them no I will not and that my health has improved since being Keto/Carnivore. The good news is that my primary care doctor says to keep doing what I'm doing. I am doing keto/carnivore not to lose weight but to keep cancer from coming back. Three years now and so far so good. I only had one chemotherapy treatment and suffered a Stevens-Johnson reaction so chemo is not an option for me. I'll keep living my Keto/carnivore lifestyle. I have finally gotten my husband on board and have reduced his HbA1c from 5.9 to 5.4 in a 6 month period. He's a work in progress though. Thank you Dr. Berry for all you do to help us have the tools to be healthier.

My mom passed away in 2008. I was really depressed . I didn’t eat anything for one and a half months . All I drank was water , due to excessive crying , led to dehydration .Hello, I’m still here .
It’s a combination of the medical community wanting a continual supply of patients for things like statins, metformin, high blood pressure . Theses days folks are getting younger who are prescribed meds . It’s going to take a lot to get changes happening . One of the things lacking in not only med school, but in grades 1-12 is the teaching of the proper nutrition .
