Nice, just bought myself a set for my 300L also. Straight from the classic mt21 front/d606 rear combo, these tires are already noticeably smoother on pavement. Haven't tried much trail stuff yet, but I suspect performance won't take much of a hit in most circumstances. These waypoints look like they were made for these bikes.

The mt 21 front is far superior off road obviously. The road manners of the front waypoint are second to none for the price of the tire. More than anything I just want people to understand the limits of the front tire off road.
The rear compared to the 606 is hard to beat. While it will perform with a bit less bite in really soft mud or sand it will still bite while spinning just a touch. In dry loose rocky terrain you could barely distinguish the waypoint from a 606, a mountain hybrid or an mt 21 rear. While all those tires are better it’s not by a margin that justifies double the price per tire. In my opinion of course, especially when you have to hit the highway for an hour to get home after a trail ride.

Just put these on my exc-f and put about 7 hrs asphalt and 2 hrs offroad/sand and very happy. I also am using tubliss to air down off road so that may be cheating. Road manners are as good at the stock continentals though i don't go much above 70mph for extended periods of time. Off rioad they are much better. Time will tell but so far great choice.

I’ve actually debated running tubliss especially in the front where the waypoint struggles. I’m sure being able to go down to single digit psi’s would remedy a lot of its issues.
Granted for certain applications, majority off road riding with very limited highway riding, the waypoint is obsolete to many other proven dual sport tires. What it does well is balance its capability with a certain amount of on road comfort. That’s why it works very well for me, I ride a lot of highway miles. If I was going to be riding way more off road I would still rock the rear and just do an mt21 front, or a mountain hybrid front and that would damn near be the Goldilocks zone.

@@slashinrockin they do require maintenance and checking but i got some valve stem caps that monitor pressure so i have been testing them out so i don't lose 10-20psi just checking the pressure.

What bike are you riding? 5k tires sounds about right. Best to replace when about 50% worn out imo

Been on the 300l for three seasons now, just at 15k miles. This is damn near the perfect tire for the crf. I could use a little more grip off road out of the front but the rear is a grand slam.
Had multiple rear tires smoked in less than 3k miles so 5k is outstanding.

@@slashinrockin cool! I've got 1500-1800 on a front waypoint on my t7 and really loving it for BDRs and hwy. Once my motoz adventure rear 150mm tire is done, I'm putting the 2track on. I think waypoint front and 2track back will be my go to for t7.

    thanks..

There is definitely a difference, I bought the 130 originally because that’s all they had available. I would guess the 120 is right under a pound lighter than the 130.
We’ll see where my efficiency crawls back up to after running the smaller 120 for a little while. The 120 is noticeably smaller, and hopefully will get a little more top speed back as well running it.
The 130 was great off road though just being wider and taller but I’ll see how I like the 120 for the next few thousand miles.

@@slashinrockin Hey brother any updates? I'm running 130 Tusk Waypoint rear on my DR650 (stock is 120) and I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on the 130 vs 120 waypoint. Thank you sir

      @
The difference with the 130 was most noticeable off road. Just had a nice fat tall rear tire which I really liked.
What I didn’t like was watching my efficiency just continue to fall the longer it was on the bike. Granted now I’m back on the 120 and have put about 1000 miles on it and have really enjoyed the more narrow and nimble 120.
On top of the fact it fits better with the factory mud flap even though I trimmed it to fit with the 130. If one wasn’t available I’d buy the other which is always nice to have options. Still not sold on the front totally and probably won’t buy another. It’s great on the street but there’s times off road I really regret having it. Constantly being very choosy about where you can put it and point it.

My next rear tire on my DRZ will probably be a 120/90 waypoint, but I still like an MT21 on the front

    • @slashinrockin
      @slashinrockin  Месяц назад

That would be quite the combination. I would bet you’d go two mt 21 fronts for every waypoint rear. And have traction for days in every situation.
