I picked up a set of 33x12.5r17 Kenda Klever RTs in November and I can tell you next year, if I go with 35s instead, I am without a doubt going with a 35 in Kenda Klever RT. These tires have ushered me through snow, deeeeep snow, mud and some killer rocks so far. Along with hundreds of highway miles in just two short months. This is now my new go-to tire. This tire can truly do it all! For the money you can't get any better and for the performance, all other tires are obsolete to me.
I loved my kenda klever MTs that I had a few years back. After that, I tried a less aggressive off brand AT tire and can't stand them. I was thinking about going back to the klever MT's when I discovered the RT's. Now I can't decide between the two
I have the rubitreks on my first gen sequoia and love them. I don’t do a lot of hard core off-roading but they do great on the road, in the rain, on snow and ice, in gravel and some light mud and have no complaints. I was planning on upgrading to ko2s or AT3s but after running them I will be replacing them with the exact same tire unless they get too popular and the price jumps up too much. Speaking of which, turns out I was lying, don’t buy them so they stay cheap 😂
Thanks for the info. Still waiting for my Michelin’s to wear out. Got 50,000 on them and it looks like they can go another 30-40,000. If I get 70-80,000 on them, the price per mile becomes very budget friendly.
I’ll be going with the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT in a 37x12.5/17 on my Jeep. I need a solid off road tire with great onroad manners as well. I’m running 35” BGF KO2’s and while I really have no complaints about them, been all over the country in them and in all sorts of terrain and haven’t let me down but I want to make a change and give the MT’s a try, have heard a lot of good about them and the warranty and 3PMSF rating is a big bonus to me.
I have them on my JT as well. I won't be buying them again. I got about 45k out of them which is good but they have dry rot all over all of them and they are only 2 years old. They also balance terrible that being said mine are 38s. But the dry rot thing is my biggest issue
recently got my new Method Wheels wrapped with the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T's for my old 94 full size Blazer from you guys. I couldn't be more happy with this setup! Love them!
I recently put the Cooper Rugged Trek's in 275/60/20 115T on my 2018 F150 Supercrew 4x4, and honestly there is hardly any noise at all on the highway. I was coming from the factory Hankook Dynapro 275/55/20's which were very quiet, and notice only a minor increase in noise, but it's barely noticeable. Keep in mind this truck has always had a very quiet interior. Ford did a great job with sound isolation. So maybe on other vehicles it's more noticeable. But I can assure you on a modern F150 it's a non-issue, unless you are super-finicky.
Had mine on for a week , coming from Toyo RTs and it's a night and day difference. My Coopers are way quite and smoother and do much better in the rain.

I've had Duratrac tires on 3 Jeeps & my current Toyota FJ Cruiser. And I have actually gone off road. And I have driven in super bad snow, ice, blizzards (I live right by Chicago). Amazing tires for larger SUV's / trucks. If you want something that is great for a SUV / CUV that is mostly on road, but sometimes goes camping, or off the path, check out the Falken Wildpeak AT Trail tires.
the 255/85r17 Mickey boss Ats are super quiet and surprisingly grippy in all conditions. Also very light and fits my truck a lot better than a normal 35.

Just had a set of 295/70R18 falken wildpeak r/t mounted yesterday on my 18 sierra and man are they smooth on road. Haven’t had a chance to run them off-road yet but for $1537 mounted/balanced that’s not horrible.
I have the Kendal’s almost 2 full years and love them. May not be 3 peak rated but in my 2dr JK I’ve had no issues in the snow and barley turn the 4wd on while using them. Off-road have had no issues either. Comfort wise, no issues again. Took it from NH to FL and NH to NJ, not very noisy and didn’t make the ride harsh at all. Highly recommend!
I got the new Toyo open country R/T Trail tire on my 3500 diesel truck and I love them. They are great in the mud, snow, ice, soft, sand, deep and soft dirt, and they are really good off-road, as well as on road. Glad to hear! We agree that the Rubitrek is often overlooked due to the popularity of the AT3W. Don't get us wrong; the AT3W is a great tire, but you just can't go wrong with the Rubitrek.
On my 3rd set of KO2's. Waiting for full release of KO3's to try them out. This winter was my first time driving in snow. Got a healthy 16 inch of powerder. The KO2's did amazing on and off road. 35's Ko2 Take off and I run the stock Rubicon 33's daily.
In December of this year I just bought a set of Toyo Open country all terrains in 12.50 x17” x37” diameter load range “ E” for my 2002 GMC Sierra . I’ve run 2 sets of Pro-Comp tires & two sets of Toyo’s all in past 21 years of ownership now and truck has been on 3 sets of 37” tires and one set of 35” tires since day one. Personally I prefer he Toyo tires over the Pro-comps as they ride well & wear much better for my application ( Truck is currently set up as a full sized overland rig with All the usual crap added …. Read HEAVY & always loaded ), and still handles & rides nicely . Might try a set of Cooper tires after this current set of tires eventually wears out as a good Buddy of mine has an almost identical twin truck( minus the excess overland stuff) and swears by his tires . A 10 to 11 state road trip here on Western United States next April- May & maybe part of June through whatever kind of terrain & weather Mother Nature throws at us should provide some great feedback & comparisons. Time will tell … I looked at the Kenda tires before this last set of Toyo’s , but they only made a load range “ D” in my size & with all the extra weight I’m carrying didn’t want to risk a blowout or failure at highway speeds …. 😐. Thanks for sharing your video & letting me rant here . C-ya out in life someday. 🤞
I have 35 10.50r17 Kenda MTs on my f150. Insanely good price for 35 inch mud tires. I’ve been super impressed with mud performance. And they are quite loud, but it’s expected.
The Iron mans suc, my brother had them on his prerunner bronco and they were loud AF, rode like crap on the highway and he just replaced them today because 3 of the 4 tires had deep cracks in them. Besides they only lasted him about 20K miles.
Only lasted 20,000 miles? I'm calling bullshit. I had a set on a Jeep JK and a Silverado. Yes they made noise, yes they suck on slippery surfaces like any other non sipped MT. However, I put over 40,000 miles on both sets, and they still had 2/3 tread left.
@@bdd1469 you are calling bullshit on something that you have not seen? Lmao As stated, his bronco is a prerunner so its used in high speed desert driving. Are your vehicles used the same way? Unless they are, please dont call bullshit on nothing. Before those Ironman tires he had Toyo RT tires, those tires were more expensive but held up against abuse much better and also lasted just shy of 40K miles. Do you call BS on that too? Lol some people… 😂
@@TrailBuilt a prerunner is a high speed desert vehicle, not a highway vehicle. His tires just didnt hold up against desert duties. Like I said, he had some deep cracks in them, he is lucky they didnt blow up.
Is it 100 percent true it that one size didn’t pass the 3peak snow rating. Therefore it wasn’t rated that way in all sizes? If so what size didn’t pass and is there a reason why? I’ve heard this in a few videos now and I really really want to go with the Kenda RTs! We’ve personally had the Kenda ATs in the past and they were incredible. I want to purchase some RTs so badly on my truck but Utah winters have me scared about not having an official 3peak rated tire. Any input is appreciated!
I'm running Kumho AT52 265/70/17 on my 4runner. For less than 200$ a tire, I'm impressed. I have four acres of very steep land and its been very wet and my 4runner and those tires make it effortless. Clean the mud off and jump right on the road for a decently quite ride. Just enough of an aggressive tire, but it rides and handles the on road as good as it does off road. Four tires for 800$ is pretty hard to pass up, not to mention they look damn good on my 4runner.
For $800 and your getting what you told us out of them. I'd say they are well worth it! Thanks for the feedback, we may have to look into the Kumbo AT52's a little bit more.
I have the thunderer ranger atr on my 04 wj and they don’t have the greatest traction taking off in snow and ice but they brake harder than any other tire I’ve ran. I would definitely give them the 3PMSF but I don’t know how they will wear overtime but they got me through the blizzard this year easily.
I have the cooper rugged trek and absolutely love them. They are a little louder than the falken at3w but they out perform them on wet roads, slick mud, deep mud and snow. I can’t imagine going back to the falken over a decibel louder in the cab. I think the may ride a touch better on road also but that is subjective.
It's cool to hear you say that they outperformed the AT3W in wet road conditions because the AT3W seems to be the king of wet roads according to others. But thanks for the feedback! Love hearing REAL WORLD reviews!
@@JonathanGomez-lp3qcI have had no adverse weather like snow this year but so far handles well on dry and wet roads. Seem a step up from there at3 so far. Not loud if sound is an issue for you. I have not paid attention to mpg as of yet
Just got the Nitto Recons on my 2018 Silverado. So far I like them. My first pick was the Falken Wildpeaks but they were on backorder at Discount for the size I wanted.
I bought a set of Cooper rugged treks. They were the worst tire I've owned. Went through multiple tires trying to get them balanced. Had to run higher pressure to smooth them out. Rode like crap. Bought a set of Mickey Thompson Baja boss. Perfect and a better ride. Quieter too.
How do you like them so far? We hear a lot of good things about these tires! Sometimes, we do get some people saying that on-road discomfort can be a problem. Do you experience that?
The only complaint in any tire video is noise, it don’t bother me one bit because I listen to my music anyways, I care about price and performance, I have Kenda and I love them but I’m looking at other options again but I might stick with my Kendas
I just put a set of Wildpeak RT’s on my F250 Tremor. Love them so far but haven’t gotten to go off roading much yet. Great on wet roads, they seem to clean out well in the little bit of mud I’ve gone through and the road noise isn’t half bad. If they’re decent in snow I’ll definitely be putting a set on my Grand Cherokee next.
Running the Cooper Rugged Trek on my 2014 Ram 2500. Amazing tire. Just finished a road trip from Utah to Remote Northern California and back fighting snowy weather. They performed incredible. Road noise is the same as any AT tire. Anyone complaining about road noise for this tire is going to have the same complaint with any tire not designed specifically for dry highway use. I highly recommend the Cooper Rugged Trek.
I have some 2019 Corsa ATs still vs my Ironman AT1s ive enjoyed both but mostly i have way better traction on and offroad with Corsas but havent seen the in stock for months now
I was hoping to see Amp AT/ Pro on the list. I just bought a new set today. The first set I put on at 6000km on my new 2019 Ram 1500 4x4. My truck's odometer reads just over 102 000 km today. They said I had between 35 to 40 percent life left on the old ones. They work well in winter here in Edmonton Alberta. Never had a flat tire and they are quite quiet on the highway. They balanced easily and wore evenly despite the fact I only rotated them twice. I don't know how the mud tires balance but these do. At the price point how could I complain??
Off road, the Ironman tires are definitely the best of the bunch. Unfortunately, after 20k miles two of mine are no longer round for me. I can’t recommend these tires.
In Canada nitto ridge grapplers are $600 each for 33” lol not budget friendly on my second set of AMP terrain m/t one of the cheapest and best tires I can find in Canada $360 each
I’m running Cooper SST Pro’s in 37” on my JL. I love the traction off road but they are only half worn out and the on the road noise is awlful…..I mean really awlful. They don’t seem to be wearing funny …. so I will for sure be looking for something different…

Been through dozens of tires and BFG KO2's have performed far better than anything else in a wide range of conditions and I get a solid 50k of hard use out if them
Best way to save money is to buy excellent no compromise tires one size smaller than your peer group says you need. I do more on 32” mickey thompsons than 95 percent of guys on 37s. 33s are a great compromise size unless you’re doing top 1% trails or tons of mud.
With ordering a wheel and tire package that comes with pre installed TPMS, What will I need to do to get the new sensors to talk to my 2014 Toyota Tundra?
I have a set of Kenda Klever AT2s with over 60,000 miles on them and alot of tread left. I won't buy anything unless they're 3 peak mountain snowflake certified. When it comes to snow, sleet and ice, these tires are sticky. The only bad thing about them is, the price point increased since I bought them years ago, I'm sure due to it's gain in popularity.
I put a set of Road One Calvary tires from Amazon, on my 91 suburban for $ 600 tires, $130 mount and balance at a local shop. Had them on for a year and so far they've been great tires, especially for the price. Only negative I can see is they are directional so no crossing during rotation, but that's pretty minor in my book.
I just had a set of Falken Rubitreks on my 21 Tacoma Trd OR. I only got 29k miles from them. Rotated & in alignment 😢. I don’t tow or carry heavy loads. I think the rubber is too soft. I drive a mix of Hwy, 2 lane, dirt & some rough steep mtn roads. They were good in rain. Did not ride great. Medium noise. I will not buy them again due to how quick they wore down.
I see it more as the Falken WildPeaks being so damn popular, it’s good to make people aware that they have a cheaper option for those on a tighter budget.
When I got my Rubitreks the tire shops here had to order them in because only had FWPAT3's. They were harder to get actually, but it was worth it to order them for the price. They were $222 per tire compared to $297 for the AT3's.
We just posted a comparison video of the AT3W vs AT4W. We covered all the important factors of the tires and put them in a head-to-head battle to see which one is better and if the AT4W is truly an "upgrade". Check out that video as it may help you! Regarding the difference between the Rubi Trek and the AT3W and AT4W, the biggest factor, of course, is the cost. The Rubi Trek is going to give you a cheaper price. On the flip side, the more expensive price of the AT3W and, so far, the AT4W has been justified as they have been holding up to their price point and providing great traction and lifespan for riders. The Rubi Trek is also lighter, but may not provide as much durability and grip on snowy roads. Hope this helps!

Awesome! Like you, we here at Trailbuilt don't mind some noise if the tire can deliver great performance.
Meanwhile I bought a $99 a piece Kenda AT tires and extremely happy with them.
Woohoo. I just grabbed a set of the rubitrek and some wheels from yall. That was before i watched this video. Sounds like i wont be disappointed
The Iron mans suc, my brother had them on his prerunner bronco and they were loud AF, rode like crap on the highway and he just replaced them today because 3 of the 4 tires had deep cracks in them. Besides they only lasted him about 20K miles.
Dang. They aren’t meant to be a highway tire, that’s for sure!
Lmao
As stated, his bronco is a prerunner so its used in high speed desert driving.
Just skip to #3!! Thanks Fred for another great video! 😎👊
Just put the Cooper AT3 XLT on my truck. Lobe them over the Toyo AT3. The Toyo's were a death trap in the rain!!!
Thanks for the real-life feedback. We will take that into account.
The Maxxis RZR AT is a stellar tire I got for pretty cheapish
Makes me feel even more confident about getting 33x9.5R15 Kenda Klever R/T's
I have the thunderer ranger atr on my 04 wj and they don’t have the greatest traction taking off in snow and ice but they brake harder than any other tire I’ve ran. I would definitely give them the 3PMSF but I don’t know how they will wear overtime but they got me through the blizzard this year easily.
Nice! Kind of a unknown tire so it's cool to hear about them!
@@TrailBuilt they are probably closer to equal on wet roads.
Going with the Wildpeak AT4 tires that just came out. So far they are not loud and handle well on the road
Great choice! Not a budget item but worth every penny!
Where did you buy them tho?
@@Kylewraps many tire companies have them now. Even tire rack does. I got mine from a local shop. Dyke Tires which is part of tire discounters
how are the tires so far?
@@JonathanGomez-lp3qcI have had no adverse weather like snow this year but so far handles well on dry and wet roads. Seem a step up from there at3 so far. Not loud if sound is an issue for you. I have not paid attention to mpg as of yet
I’m buying my 3rd set of Kendas. I’m sold on the klever 💯
Just got the Nitto Recons on my 2018 Silverado. So far I like them. My first pick was the Falken Wildpeaks but they were on backorder at Discount for the size I wanted.
Well hopefully they work well for you! Let us know how it goes!
Rubitreks look interesting but I will still be running Toyo Open Country ATs for now. Just love these things.
Lots of people run those for a good reason. They are very well respected and we love them here too!
I am going to run Falken wildpeak MT for 2024
I bought a set of Cooper rugged treks. They were the worst tire I've owned. Went through multiple tires trying to get them balanced. Had to run higher pressure to smooth them out. Rode like crap. Bought a set of Mickey Thompson Baja boss. Perfect and a better ride. Quieter too.
Sorry to hear that! Thanks for the feedback though! I'm glad you were able to find the right set.
Got 33/12.5/20 with 12 ply Maxxis Razr Mt for $1200
How do you like them so far?
I'm going with Thunderer Trac Grip on my 94 GMC K1500
I love my recon grappler’s and I will be getting a second set when they are finished! Their awesome on road and even better off road!
A lot of people seem to be thinking the same. They are some great tires!
Thanks for the feedback! We love getting real feedback from real customers!
Great list, I’m running the discover AT3
Off road, the Ironman tires are definitely the best of the bunch. Unfortunately, after 20k miles two of mine are no longer round for me. I can’t recommend these tires.
Had a set of Rugged Trek and they were pretty noisy, other than that they were great tires awesome in wet and snow conditions!
The Cooper tire reminds me of a Goodyear g633 and the Nitto design kinds makes me think of a Uniroyal Laredo HD...
In Canada nitto ridge grapplers are $600 each for 33” lol not budget friendly on my second set of AMP terrain m/t one of the cheapest and best tires I can find in Canada $360 each
50,000 miles out of Nitto Ridge Grapplers 2024❤
So you're the one who's been making all that noise on the freeway a state over. Mystery solved!
I’m running Cooper SST Pro’s in 37” on my JL. I love the traction off road but they are only half worn out and the on the road noise is awlful…..I mean really awlful. They don’t seem to be wearing funny …. so I will for sure be looking for something different…
Sorry to hear that! We do appreciate this feedback though. Hopefully, you can find something you'll love for your next set.
So what tire size are you giving prices for and do those prices include taxes and shipping?
The fact the patagonias aren’t on here is wild.
Damn it man, I was hoping your pricing was for 5 tires, like everybody actually buys!
Running Coop's on my Super Duty towing a 5th wheel and really like them a lot...I may have to go RT on the JK!
Dude we loved you in Clerks and Clerks 2!
idk if the Recon Grappler is considered "budget" when discount tire is selling them for the same price as Ridge Grapplers in a 315
Great list! Could you please make another one of top 5 budget All-Terrain tires.
Great suggestion!
lol,,, I have a '06 Dodge megacab 4x4. I often pull a loaded 5T utility trailer, & a 35' camper off road & many miles down the hiway.
You didn't mention PLYS,,, Traction ratings, & LOAD RATINGS,,, for our BIG TRUCKS.
LIONHART Lionclaw HT LT265/70R17 121/118Q 10 Ply !!
ive been looking close at your #1
Been through dozens of tires and BFG KO2's have performed far better than anything else in a wide range of conditions and I get a solid 50k of hard use out if them
Best way to save money is to buy excellent no compromise tires one size smaller than your peer group says you need. I do more on 32” mickey thompsons than 95 percent of guys on 37s. 33s are a great compromise size unless you’re doing top 1% trails or tons of mud.
EDIT, unless of course you have a peer group you can really trust, just don't buy 37s just because they fit.
I'd rather just pick up a shift and get the 37s thanks.
@@chublez if you’re making 1500 extra by picking up a shift you don’t have budget issues 🤷♂️
With ordering a wheel and tire package that comes with pre installed TPMS,
What will I need to do to get the new sensors to talk to my 2014 Toyota Tundra?
Milestar Patagonia x/t my go to tire!
What about the Falken AT4’s…? Little bit more expensive but I’ve heard good things about them
What tire size do these compare to I'm looking to get a set to put on a demolition derby car
Goodyear wrangler authority AT are the best ive used for the price they are like 195 a tire through walmart
It's nice to know that even in the $800 price range. You can still get a tire that can keep you safe!
@TrailBuilt they're honestly awesome tires I'm on my second set for my first generation sequoia the first set lasted 70k miles
Kender klever mt2 kr629 are the best tire for the price $1,235 set of 35 12.5 15 ,30,000 mile rated
Kenda klevar are about $500 on eBay for a set of four
I have a set of Kenda Klever AT2s with over 60,000 miles on them and alot of tread left. I won't buy anything unless they're 3 peak mountain snowflake certified. When it comes to snow, sleet and ice, these tires are sticky. The only bad thing about them is, the price point increased since I bought them years ago, I'm sure due to it's gain in popularity.
Seems like everything is increasing in price! Some of the tires on this list started out around $800 for a set of 4, and now they are well over $1000!
been looking at #1 pic, but got interested in Nokian Outpost nAT, found a good sale price right now. opinions?
Can’t go wrong with some ridge grapplers
Generally, one gets what they pay for. Markets correct for any imbalance in time.
Asking for a video covering sumitomo encounter at!
I’m looking for a tire that would have the off road capability’s of these but still have the the towing capability’s for my 2500 duramax
Guys that drive on highway: Radar Renegade RT or Wrangler Duratrac - have fun
I just had a set of Falken Rubitreks on my 21 Tacoma Trd OR. I only got 29k miles from them. Rotated & in alignment 😢. I don’t tow or carry heavy loads. I think the rubber is too soft. I drive a mix of Hwy, 2 lane, dirt & some rough steep mtn roads. They were good in rain. Did not ride great. Medium noise. I will not buy them again due to how quick they wore down.
What size are you basing these prices at? That would be a nice face to start with
All prices in this video are based on 33's!
Deciphered: Boss, push the Rubitrek AT on your next video. Turns are low, and we have an overstock. Lol
I see it more as the Falken WildPeaks being so damn popular, it’s good to make people aware that they have a cheaper option for those on a tighter budget.
@@PRV392Definitely a possibility.
When I got my Rubitreks the tire shops here had to order them in because only had FWPAT3's. They were harder to get actually, but it was worth it to order them for the price. They were $222 per tire compared to $297 for the AT3's.
Thank you for not ranking the Sumitomo Encounter, b/c I need that price to stay down and the brand to remain unknown.
Is there a big different between the Rubi trek and the at3w and the at4w?
@@TrailBuilt thank you!
