Your suffering is quite entertaining :)
You might want to word that a little bit differently. lmao
@@SwaypenYT Hahah.
My dad has been using linux for 20+ years and he said that back in the day on his Pentium 4 system Gentoo literally took 2 days to compile.
i have a good pc and it took gentoo like 12 hours to compile so i would've expected worse also based dad
@@ADarnSmore Did you set -j to the amount of threads your cpu has?
@@terminallyonline5296 considering modern hardware, I dont think he did haha,
@@terminallyonline5296 I am not the OP but is 4 cores good enough for an intel core i3?
How many threads does your i3 have? If you have hyperthreading then you will want -j8.
Based chromebook ever (It runs full Gentoo with GNU component)
isnt chromeOS gentoo-based
I just love this series.
Now you can try to install AND maintain slackware-current for some time :D
New Sub!
If you download the "desktop" stage file instead of the basic one it will have a lot less stuff to download when you update world after selecting the desktop profile.
Still debating on having a schedule.

nice!
i just completed my gentoo installation on my 14 year old laptop with 2 cores, 1 thread by core 4gb ram.
installed the base/desktop profile + vim + zsh + xorg + ratpoison + rofi + firefox + thunar + geany + alacritty + picom + nitrogen. then i finally startx and realized i didn't install pipewire or pulseaudio, i have no audio and i should install pipewire then recompile every damn thing to work with pipewire. now if you'll excuse i'm gonna kill myself.
Going to do this now on my (apparently worse performing?) Celeron N3060 chromebook from middle school
good job
You did it lol!
I have the 2GB of ram version, you don't know pain until you use that one.
Inspired me to reinstall gentoo
I didn't know he was an artist 🤣
I tried about a year ago to install Gentoo on a very old NB with Pentium M and 192 MB ram...
I finally gave up after a few hours of trying.
Gentoo is great on very old/weak computers. But you have to compile it on another machine, on something modern. Don't even mention the probably weeks it would take on a Pentium M, I don't think it can physically do it with just 192 MB of RAM. But if you compile it on something modern (and, of course tune it a bit, only include what's needed), it even works on a 486.
I wish they would just give us free chromebooks in Greece :(
3 days that rookie numbers! Come play with us in the real masochist hardware specs :)
Damn. I want a free chrome book. I don't care how crappy they are.
build your system from scratch in x86 assembly
Awesome job!.....I tried to install it once....on a regular old "corporate" desktop PC that was sold ....I stopped after Day 12.....Lifes' too short bruh!...LOL!
