can you remake the half-life on the pi tutorial because I don't think it works anymore because I cannot get the valve folder so there is an error message that says cannot find the /valve directory? Also, can you do a tutorial on the safe shut-off script for the dmg pi boy. Specifically when the card you are modifying is already had stuff on it like overclocking, retro pi, and Minecraft. Like a loaded card
Just tried running this but it doesn't seem to work for me. Then I remembered that I was running it on ChromeOS Flex. I'm assuming that's why it didn't work for me but I'm still not sure why or what is needed to get it running. Any ideas?
I followed all the commands to the letter and once it had finished installing I typed startkde. I'm getting bash: startkde: command not found. Help?
When I get loaded up to the desktop it says "System policy prevents control of network connections" and shows that I need to type a password
When I do this it works fine, but with a bar with the time and other options appearing in a separate window I can tab to.
Any idea what's going on here? I assume these things should share the same screen space.
KDE-plasma on Chromebook is buggy, not worth the trouble.
Hey I entered the startkde but after a while it keeps saying
apper. daemon: System is not ready, applications should conserve resources
What do i do?
I have a question what if a raspberry pi 4 install with a graphics card ether android or windows
when i put the startkde it says command not found when i did the fix thing it did nothing as well
KDE changed the startup command to:
startplasma-x11
I tried the code for fixing the Kde not starting. But after I entered it said xinitrc is not a directory, how could I fix that?
You're not missing anything,. I just installed KDE Plasma on my Chromebook, and some things are quite buggy. For one, panels don't work at all. It's also a headache and a half uninstalling that desktop, a lot of manual work and looking up help pages, on the web. I wasted a half day getting it all removed. A lot of junk is left behind once you uninstall it, and there's the headache.
How do I start it the next time I want to use it after it’s installed?
Is there a way to do this with Arch + KDE instead? I dont want ubuntu and when I tried to make an Arch vm on tbe chromebook it was weird n didnt work correctly
This is good! But, when I type in startkde, it doesn't work. Even when I used the fix command, it still did not work! I need help.
it has been updated. you now need to use the command: startplasma-x11
KDE changed the command to:
startplasma-x11
I have got everything working but when i try to get into obs it says OBS appears to be running inside a ChromeOS container. This platform is unsupported

I went to go try that out a couple weeks ago when I got a chromebook but where this is an education chromebook for students in the classroom that feature is locked out. I work for a university that has an education program and this Dell chromebook is part of a pilot project where they give them to grade 6 students. I have it to help me give tech support for university students for their online classes. I love the chromebook but I'm super bummed I can't try the Linux desktop on it. Great video as always 👍🏻👍🏻😳
I appreciate your work so much. Just as a feedback, I would like to point out that the methods on this video no longer work for the stable version chromebook Linux Crostini
Wonder if RetroPi will perform decently?
my chrome book installed an os update and shut itself down during my installation process, how screwed am i? the terminal wont load fyi
thanks I have a question it says -bash startkde is not found can u pls get back to me fast? thanks for the vid
KDE changed the startup command to:
startplasma-x11
"startked' command not found how can i deal this?
startkde
"startkde" has been replaced by the command "startplasma-x11." If this doesn't work, try typing "start", then tab to see the list of available options to start.
Now, let's talk crazy. Can you run old windows games using wine ➡️ inside linux ➡️ inside Chrome OS?
Maybe something simple like point and click games.
You can do Scummvm point AND click really Easy
yeah but schools really lock them down, me and my friends keep on trying to do stuff like this but either the g suite "fixes" things or the teachers do.
i had the same problem, they had to repair my keyboard when it was broke, when i got it back i could suddenly do everything on it
@@saaus-_- did they unenroll your chromebook or something?
@@kxdsh probably by accident, but yes they did
@@saaus-_- lmao, go install linux and stuff before they notice
I already did and i putted myself in dev mode, So lmao
@ETA PRIME What happens to the space you dedicated to the install of then when you disable it? Do you get that back?
Disabling the linux install option erases the virtual disk that was there, so yes you get all the space back
have a good day
I keep getting the "Command Not Found" error in the Linux terminal after installing it successfully. KDE already seems to be installed correctly (verified using: apt list --installed). COuld you please suggest a possible solution to this problem?
"startkde" has been replaced by the command "startplasma-x11." If this doesn't work, try typing "start", then tab to see the list of available options to start.
@@suspiciouscarrot8403 doesnt work
"bash: startkde: command not found " when i use startkde command
Can you still install linux even if your device might not support it?
Check out the MrChromebox website.
I have installed successfully but while typing startkde it is not starting ... I want to uninstall ...what should I do
I wonder if "startkde" actually works for ANYONE.
@@2ANDERSON5420 startplasma-x11
sudo apt-get remove --purge task-kde-desktop
@@nad1ax2 But that leaves behind a lot of KDE crud that you'll have to figure out how to remove manually, to regain all that storage space it took up.
everything was going fine until I put "startkde" and hit ener, then I got " bash: startkde: command not found". i followed all the steps...?
it has been updated. you now need to use the command: startplasma-x11

@@brindlekintales thanks!!!
@@annafaitdesvideos247 You're welcome! I don't even have KDE installed on my Chromebook, but read the solution on other comments here, so decided to share that info with others who posted your question, but missed the answer. My good deed for the day. :)
@@brindlekintales Thank you
I have tryed 2 times now, bot times it end up with -bash: startkde: command not found in terminal. Done 1:1 what this awsome video says.
I figured it out, i needed to type startplasma-x11 instead of startkde
@@TheLoFiLounge24 thanks
this turned out really cool!
when I put the first command it says "-bash: 1.Update: command not found"
Me as well, did you find a solution?
@@dominicpsn startplasmax-11 but i think i am still getting the display error
The last part don't work for be when type in startkde it say command not found
Even after typing the x11 command of us still not working for me any idea why?
Hmmm. Lots of desktop redrawing / blanking out of open apps (i.e. Konsole), almost like Reveal Desktop is getting randomly run in the background.
It’s probably because the Environment it self is running as a window on chrome os so it behaves just like other windows. It just snaps over the other open ones if you click it.
what do you do when it says -bash: startkde: command not found
this didn't work for the duet 5
This is great i love linux OS there are a lot to choose from. I just installed twister os its pretty cool and having all those Libre writer apps its not bad for the average person surfing the net and writing stories. School work as well like you said. Great ideas.
I cannot start KDE by using the startKDE command and by the other command.
If you have any convertible eg. Hp envy/pavilion x360 could you do a dual boot win10 and blissx86/Android x86 that works?
As long as all the drivers work, you should have no problem doing so.
I get to started but it comes up -bash: none, : command not found
Congratulations on the work. When possible, test the retro emulators on the Poco X3
can this be done with kali linux ?
Would a chromebook be suitable for software development on Linux?
If you’re working away on that massive Hello World project, it’ll be perfect !
@@kaydog890 thanks, I hate it haha
