Things, particularly in the entertainment industry with games and shows alike, can get promised for renewals, sequels, and just get shafted for excessively long times. Im confused why they try to avoid Protago-Nick, were they worried he would remove their protagonist status? But then they shouldn’t have to duck that beam if that’s the case. Or maybe it’s worse trying to focus on Morty as the sole protagonist when Rick needs to be the focus to save themselves.
If it hit Morty I think it would've made Rick the sidekick. Maybe his ray would've changed Rick's motivation if it hit him or something
I noticed something interesting in that scene too, if Rhetcon had done as Rick asked and made it so him and Morty had never arrived at the base, Rhett would have never been able to get free hence his betrayal
