    Just saw this today. My husband and I were both in the Navy too. We're also considering a repositioning cruise. Next year. I appreciate this for our planning.

    I went on a Sky Princess transatlantic cruise in March 2022. We did the toboggan run on Madeira too. Unfortunately Azores was canceled due to weather & Morocco was canceled because...covid. We went to Gibraltar instead. It was still a fun, memorable cruise. My next cruise is a Mediterranean cruise with Celebrity, March 2024.

      A mediterranean should be a lot of fun. It's too bad you missed the Morocco and Azores... covid is such a drag... :-(

    Hi. Thanks for all this information. You talked about the weather but what do I pack to wear? Is it hot? Is it cool at night? Thanks

    • @justtravelingthru_
      @justtravelingthru_  Год назад +2

      I think it depends on when you are going. When we went in May we needed summer clothes like swimsuits, shorts, t-shirts, and sun dresses, but we also needed spring like sweaters or light jackets and pants. I get cold easily so sometimes need a sweater inside the air conditioning for dinners and shows. We didn't need any heavy winter-type clothing. We tend to be casual and didn't bring anything fancy but you could if you wanted for the dress-up nights.

      @@justtravelingthru_ Thank you so much for your response. I'll be going soon part April into May and I have learned to check the weather for my destination as I've been caught more than once with the wrong clothing, with my Canadian thinking that ''there are palm trees, must be hot'' LOL Not ture... Had to go shopping. I cannot however check the weather in the Transatlantic...haha. Thanks again

      Awesome - Have a great time...a pilot told me once that air sickness is all in your head...it stuck with me as I used to get air sick. Now I try to distract myself with reading or computer work when it gets bumpy. It seems to help. When I'm in rolling seas - I actually find laying down helps me and looking at the horizon is no help at all because I can see how much we are rocking. I guess we each need to figure out what works for us. But I hope the seas are as calm for you as it was for us.

    To avoid having to make show reservations: Choose a smaller ship, ideally one with less than 2,000 passengers. We have had a couple of experiences on mega ships and we did not like them. The TA’S should be about relaxing, not competing for show tickets. We always plan on getting to the show at least 30 minutes before it starts. Bring that book you have been reading to pass the time. Always a good seat choice!

    ALWAYS BUY TRIP INSURANCE THAT INCLUDES MEDICAL EVACUATION. Don's Family Vacations just posted a video where the husband had a heart attack and had a long stay in the hospital, then had to be flown home.
    It would have cost them out of pocket over $78,000, but there insurance paid for it.

    • @justtravelingthru_
      @justtravelingthru_  Год назад

      Wow! - those things can happen. It's easy to not think about things like this but it really can impact a family financially if something serious were to happen. I'm booking a fall trip to Europe now and will be making sure we understand our medical coverage during that 3 week trip.

    so you got sick ON THE CRUISE... My wife and I got sick on the cruise "had to got to medical emergency and spent over $4,500 on medical procedures". Spent the rest of the cruise in our cabin. NOT kicked off the ship but were expecting to be escorted off every day. We had travel insurance but they refuse to pay>> Generali "find a way NOT to pay" they refuse our emails, taking them to court next week. We will see what happens.

      I'm sorry to hear that your wife got sick. We were lucky in that my husband was only sick for the last few days and then for our time after the cruise in Barcelona. Neither of us needed medical attention but did spend several weeks feeling extremely poorly. I hope you are successful in recovering some of your costs and I hope everyone is okay now.

      @@justtravelingthru_sick? Sick how?

    • @justtravelingthru_
      @justtravelingthru_  3 месяца назад +1

      @simonstones1918 We are not sure what it was exactly. It wasn't a normal cold and didn't seem like a flu either. We had some fever, upper respiratory affects, and malaise that lasted a very long time; On the order of 6-8 weeks after our trip. We laid around and did absolutely nothing for days. It was the type of sickness where we didn't even want to read or watch TV or do anything that required thinking. The malaise and tiredness lasted so long that we were worried that it was something more serious. In the end, it did resolve, but being exposed to something like that again is not high on our list. It was NOT related to COVID. I'm sure it was just a matter of being in the gene pool on the ship with everyone else. It's hard to avoid germs even when you are diligent.
