Underoath are back with their new album 'Erase Me.' This is their first album in eight years following 'Ø' and has been highly anticipated by their fans. The guys talk Aaron and Spencer talk about the creation of this album and how it was truly the first time that they ever felt like everyone from the band was represented on a single album.

That album is a masterpiece but it was also a different time. Underoath has matured as a band, they're not into the heavy stuff as much as they were back than and you can clearly tell with this record. Some say this record is generic and bland, yes some songs are, but some are also songs only Underoath could make. In Motion and No Frame are two of underoath's best imo.

Spencer said it was the first record they worked together on but Grant and James are nowhere to be seen in the studio footage?
Grant and James are not part of the songwriting process. Spencer, Aaron, Tim and Chris write the songs, Grant and James record their parts.
Austin Laanstra they didn’t record their parts on Erase Me. They weren’t even at the studio.

And Caleb shomo records multiple instruments for Beartooth but only sings and MAYBE play guitar live. The other band members are mainly only there for the live shows. This is the basically same concept. It happens.

Ive followed these guys for at least 13 years. They've continued to evolve/change as most normal people do. Haters gonna hate.

I love the Almost and underoath. I think they're brilliant musicians. I believe they'll grow and overcome this backlash they seem to unfortunately be facing. I believe most people claiming the Christian label is ignorant and so blind to reality. I support underoath and their honesty. I believe this album will be monumental!

I think I'll go listen to Define The Great Line now. None of their albums were heavy at all not even close so not sure why people are saying their not heavy anymore.
It's amazing how they say that they didn't work well together in the past few albums. They were so well produced and written so it's hard to believe. It never sounded like they sold out or was all over the place.
It's just the narrative they are selling for the new CD (sorry album). Trying to make it sound new and exciting

Jack Jackson their last three albums before erase me was genuine and heavy, it had nothing to do with being “scene”.

So I just listened to the album, definitely different, I didn't hate it, but it sounds like the album was produced by two different people. I didn't much care for the first half except for one song, but then the last 5 songs had a totally better feel, they just flowed way better.

The album is not that bad, imo. It's just different. I miss the aggression they used to have a bit, but I respect that if they don't want the same thing over and over again. If they feel like to sing more about they honest feelings instead of screaming, that's their honest expression as musicians!

The new album is errr not good. Being a long time under oath fan I don't like saying that. If everyone's getting along, great, but that doesn't inherently mean good music.
Chino from deftones said that he thinks tension creates better music.
In my opinion they saved the best for last I think In Motion is the best song on that record.

LOL that's so funny dude! And it's true, too. I've seen Underoath a few times but three years ago I saw Spencer in his other band, they were opening for "Nothing More" and Spencer just kept spitting all over the place. My wife yelled at me in the crowd... Does he always spit? LOL. I don't know why he does it, but it's funny.
MonRoeTheory I've heard that go around too funny enough. I read a fan saying spencer spit water in his mouth and it was the best moment. And my buddy said he saw Aaron spit right on stage at a church event during a worship set....
Chris Giraffe I’ve seen them at least 10 times live and I’ve never seen Spencer spit on anymore. He has always been super nice to the fans.

It's not trendy anymore. That's what bands are all about in this genre.
It doesn't matter much to me, but it all seems like a cash grab when you change your beliefs and message when it isn't cool anymore.
