The Latin phrase on the church is also on Chatsworth House, "Cavendo Tutus" which translates to "Safe Through Caution." It's the House of Cavendish motto.
My mates sister had a pub there in the early 90s Tim we used to get a coach load up from Darnall to go on a saturdy night and go around the town centre it was brilliant loads of pubs for a smallish town and the locals were very friendly happy days 😊
Love Bolsover, an English heritage membership is well worth it Tim, gets you into Bolsover, Conisboro, and Hardwick to name a few places round here. Never knew there was a castle at Laughton en le morthen, came across it when looking at the church for the first time... do you know much about it Tim?

Will there is mound behind the back of the church nothing more, I think it has some links with Tickhill, but other than that I know nothing.
You can see the castle from the road as you approach from the M1
I have a video from the bottom, just disappointed as the Castle is completely hidden in the town.
It's called Cavendish as it's the family name of The Duke Of Devonshire
They have used some form of Roman numerals Richard.
