    okay but how do they apply to the same set of data? if i'm not given any information at all regarding the size of the population, how could i calculate the population mean compared to the sample mean? what's the difference beside the "N"?

    • @touheedkhalid3412
      @touheedkhalid3412 3 года назад +1

      Actually you are asking about another term called "inference". currently teacher is describing only "descriptive". So if you wanna learn about it, keep watching videos. within no time you will be able draw inferences from the sample statistics.

      @@jamkiolin my opinion that actually was a very good response, one that we actually should take as a good example! In descriptional / inferential statistics there's actually a conceptual barrier that is better not taken up lightheartedly and is better to be approached slowly, which in the case of watching RUclips videos, perhaps even doing so in a haste, is better to be done in the course of several days, without fast jumping into the inferential matters.. so tauheed's answer's importance cannot be overestimated!

    How did you choose 100? In a data set ex. 20,24,50,60,80 , how would you choose wha the sample is?

    • @RandoPassingBy
      @RandoPassingBy 7 месяцев назад

      in a small data set as in your example, I believe that a sample is unnecessary because it is easy to navigate the entire data set. He chose 100 NUMBER out of 100,000 NUMBER, because getting 100,000 NUMBER of people to do a survey and collect data is almost impossible. Hence, he assumed that there is a survey that was handled to 100 NUMBER of people, and use this result to predict the distribution data for the 100,000 people in total.
      Or, at least that's my understanding and memory from high school XD
      It has been ages since my last time doing stuff with statistics, or else I won't be here for revision

    I'm still kinda confused on how to go about finding the mean of my sampling distribution based on what is basically yes or no questions, I didn't keep track of when people would say yes or no but instead the numbers of yes and no responses I got. I had 29 yes responses out of 118 people, and I'm really not sure how to go about finding a mean from this. Any help would be extremely appreciated!
