I love learning about cars after I bought my FJ. I never thought how simple things like this can be. Thanks for this helpful video.

Nice to see that you just dive right in and tackle things. Most people (men and women) would have just taken it to the garage. I would be at a loss to access the socket with these ham hocks! Those FJ's are the bomb! Really cool ride. I gave you a shout out on my last video.

Thanks for the video. I was informed today that one of the brake lights was out on my 2008 FJ. I'm going to replace both at the same time.

Very simple. Look at the light bulb number on the replacement package.

Girlfriend, great job on posting a helpful video...but word of warning, you should always wear gloves when touching new bulbs. They can also help (rubber gloves) in case you have a short or bad connection, as you don't want to get zapped....nah. I also see that your dogs have had too much fun in the back (making scratches in the black plastic) as mine have. I need to find a good detail fix for that too. All positive vibes your way!

Neat vid. Noticing the turn signal lite on my dash acting screwy, I looked round back and nothing was blinking with stalk up for rite. This should be easy since I go back to 6 volt battery and inner tube days-no need for for cheat sheet RUclips. My socket bayoneted into the reflector like yours. Well being over confident I sort of broke one of tabs-think you alluded to me being little clumsy once.
Even with gun to temple I ruled out auto part stores, they think they're CVS. Navigating Rock Auto found bunch of bulbs-42 cents @ piece, tossed in some gr8 Bosch wiper blades @ $ 6 piece not almost $ 20.
Rite now statement of that order is in my pocket-if some cop is going for quota. If he's real hard ass, I'll just tell 'em I don't drive at nite. In other words Rock is not as fast as Amazon.
Actually I did use cheat sheet YU once for tricky hand brakes on 10 speed, but you Stacey are the only one I have told.
Your video, the socket area is well lit and hi res.

Can I borrow your hands? Mine are way too big, I can't squeeze more than three fingers into that tight little hole! Good vid.

Lol why do they have to make spaces they know damn well we need to access so.. inaccessible?

Same situation for me right now, no reason at all that hole couldn't be an inch wider. Actually impossible for me lol. Guess i have to get some pliers

What led Bulb did you wind up getting? Did it require a different flasher to handle the led's?

Yes, I love my FJ - we spend a lot of time together, last year I drove almost 30,000 miles, I use my FJ as a stealth camper; We've been all over the AT and up and down some crazy backroads throughout the eastern US. But shh don't tell anyone she's NOT 4 WD!

Florida Girl Adventures My lights didn’t go out. I just upgraded them from stock to LED. I had to gently use needle nose pliers to spin some in and out of place. I used a very light coat on the tabs with dielectric grease and they went right in. I also use my FJ for stealth camping. Thanks for the video and safe travels!

Never replace the light bulbs on your vehicle with LEDs the lenses are designed to interact with the light from a standard vehicle light bulb in a specific way that LEDs don't and it is actually a safety hazard those lenses aren't just colored plastic there's a reason the inside of them is textured the way they are.

Good info, I have seen others with issues and led lights so I'll stick to the brightest old school bulb I can find

that's a good question I'm not sure which one you're referring to - outside light or inside light?

There is a panel below the subwoofer that has 2 bolts that hold the bottom secure, also will need to unplug the electric connection. Then the cover of the subwoofer has to be removed by pulling straight out, then 2 more bolts on either side need to be removed. There is a access panel same as the drivers side that gets removed and the same process as in this video to replace the bulbs.

      @FloridaGirlAdventures  6 лет назад

@@jamesh7064 I have to figure out which bulb you're talking about. I think I've replaced them all! What you described isn't one I've done! Thanks for the help!

Florida Girl Adventures, I was responding to Gauge Starrett's question. The panel to access the tail lights is blocked by the huge subwoofer on those FJ 's equipped with them. The only way to access the panel is to remove the subwoofer (with my instructions above). The rest of the process is the same as shown in your video.

The weird brand no name LED bulbs won't last long, not 10 years like OEM bulbs.
