Here in 2021......Copy paper used as a "transfer folder" worked perfectly. Haven't any problem with the black dots showing. Great little machine.

Thank you this was very informative and refreshing because I've been having issue with it the same way you were showing and I thought I was doing something wrong.

Thanks for sharing this information, Linda. I had really good results with the Anna version of the Minc as well as with the larger Minc. There's probably several factors that affect the foil - humidity, dust, static, etc. I tried the glitter and it's a bit messy, and while the effect is beautiful, I probably won't be using it too often.

Linda, Thanks for the tip on the Minc Machine. I have always used Anna Griffin products, but have decided I want to give a bit more artistic vibe to my work. I am using Tim Holtz inks, Tim Holtz stencils and paste, and leather paper by Sizzix. I felt my art was being stifled by only using one product. Of course, I will still use Anna Griffin, because I have a craftroom full of Anna products. If anyone needs any Anna products, I will be glad to share.

When I got my minc machine, I had good results with the smooth foil, but when I tried to run the glitter foil through the machine, it wrinkled up and ruined the plastic carrier sheets that you run through with the die cut & foil. I tried more than once (so ruined both of them). Glad to know I can use a regular sheet of copy paper. I wondered what the fix was. Overall, I am happy with it. I did buy a laser printer for additional foil projects. Thanks for the video! It was helpful.

Thank you for your review. I had my first attempt totally get stuck in the Minc and the carrier look like a washboard. HSN replaced the entire package (I had to return the original). I was interested in your comments about the whiteness of some of the preprinted images. I am going to try to lightly go over it with a dabber and ink to see if the foil will act as a resist to the ink. I would imagine that after inking, I will have to wipe the project, but it would get rid of the whiteness and make it less severe.

Thanks for the review this was really helpful in deciding whether or not to purchase this machine. To me it seems like you are getting a lot of bang for your buck here. However, have you compared this to a regular laminating machine to see if you get better or worse results with the Mink?

Excellent information. I agree that white is a bit stark & the cream would be softer used with the foil.

Thanks for sharing! I have been on the fence. I appreciate the time and patience you have gone through to share your findings and results. It seem like you have "wasted" (for lack of a better word) a lot of products just practicing. The replenishables are rather pricey to be experimenting. I do agree with you, the white does seem a bit start for me too. However, maybe you can use a sponge dauber or ink applicator tool and tone the white down by rubbing dye ink on the white pieces. I may be wrong, but the foil should act like a resist and not be harmed. Maybe a tea-dye ink color would soften it enough. Maybe even an ink color that matches cardstock in your collection.
    Just some thoughts.

I wonder which one is better anna griffin or heidi swapp? But both are minc products by the way.. still confused!!

I have found the issue is not the machine or the width of the image. I have used my laser to print hairline to bold wide images and script, and no black spots at all! The diecuts included with the machine are not printed with a high enough resolution, an uneven coating of toner, have tiny dings or scratches. Something that went wrong in production. If you have a good laser printer, you'll get perfect results.

+Nibbler800 I have a Canon Imageclass MF212w, and couldn't be happier with it. It prints deep black graphics, and I never have those tiny black specks I've see on some foiled projects. The cost is around $189.00 on the Canon site. It doesn't print borderless, but a small border isn't an issue for me. I don't think borderless is available on any laser printers, I could be wrong.

And 2 years later, I got mine for $39 on HSN with all kinds of Anna Griffin embellishements. I am new to all of this so this is a deal. I have SPENT A LOT OF MONEY on card making supplies.... LOL :)

Is it possible to tea dye the piece after foiling? That way you lose the stark white and get the ivory-ish coloring you desire. I agree the white can be jarring and has prevented me from seriously looking at the machine for purchase.

You can buy extra carrier sheets which are better and wont wreck your machine as some paper or parchment sheets can if they get caught in machine which wrecks your warranty

Hi, I have a Minc machine. I find that the smooth foil goes through it just fine, but whenever I try to run the glitter paper that came with the Minc through it, the carrier sheet bunches up and gets ruined. For some reason, I have not been successful using the glitter paper. Any suggestions?

99 Dollar O.o ... and how much are the sheets ? Seriously there are many ways to make a embelishment gliz or mirror or even ways to foil it. To me thats just kind of a waste of money ! Sorry if someone thinks thats rude but thats just my Opinion !

+AmelieBrooks I try to look for alternatives, such as mirror cardstock, or foil adhesive before going for the most expensive items... Best thing to do is wait for the product to drop in price. You can now find this machine at only $70 online!

Please help me. I just got my Anna Griffin minc machine today. I felt ecstatic. I believe I followed all the instructions properly. My first 2 foils were successful. However, on my 3rd attempt, I noticed the rollers aren't moving anymore :( I tried restarting it but just the same. It heats up but the rollers aren't moving.
Later on, smoke's coming out of the machine. I panicked a bit. Is it normal that smoke comes out?

You cannot pull the carrier sheets out of machine it wrecks the rollers they do not tell you that I did it my first machine realized what did it took it back to store got another never had a problem since if just foiing a regular lamintor on high heat setting works well but glitter sheets apparently wont work well with regular laminate as it does not get as hot

Thank you Linda. I went nuts when I first saw this and had to have it. Then I bid on a small one on Ebay with all the extras and won that, so now I have both the large and the small machine with every accessory you can imagine. I also bought tons of foils and such. However, I have yet to get a perfect image. I'm so disappointed I wish I had not bought a thing. I even bought the heat pen. That's a disappointment too, although I have more fun with that. Even Anna Griffin can't get a good image and she's the worst salesperson EVER. She seems like she has no idea what she's doing. I hope I can practice enough to get the thing to work well, because the idea is great and if it works I would love to foil everything in sight, but so far, I'm not having good luck at all. It should be so easy. It seems no one is having good luck with these.

Its not the machine. Its the foil! If you used deco foil with the same die cuts and any die cuts with toner, it will come out perfect! The foil is horrible quality.
