It's so good to be back exploring in Indonesia, we can kind of say that this time after exploring outside of Bali into Lombok as well - but truth be told we need to see a lot more of Indonesia next time! Anyway, Bali - what kind of price can you expect day to day? How much to meals cost? Whats it like to travel and how much would you spend on a 2 week holiday or vacation? This time we're not here as a digital nomad, but travellers, so the price is definitely different.
This cost breakdown video shares all our spending and how that $3,600 NZD is split across accommodation, food, transport, activities and so much more! We traveled to Canggu, Ubud, Gili T, Gili Air and Uluwatu.

Loved this as Indonesia is somewhere that's come up as a good destination for our summer and with us getting 6 weeks off as teachers, it should be a good shout. I love the money talk. Too often people say it's taboo, but it's needed. Interesting to hear you say the accommodation. It's not always the case for us. We always have to pay premium for flights as we have to fly in peak school holidays, but because it's just 2 of us, we can keep accommodation costs lower as there's not as much competition for non-family places. Good to hear you included the scam costs too. Not so nice to hear you were scammed with the likes of the fuel, but being honest, I will get scammed. I'm too nice and terrible at bartering, so it's important to know about the extra costs like these that you are less likely to run into in places like NZ and the UK! Can't wait for the rest of this series! 🙏

    • @DanegerAndStacey

Glad you appreciate the honesty! We're too soft as well, we suck at negotiating (despite the fact that I, Dane, worked in advertising and sales for YEARS) and we tend to just let the locals have it easier if things get off track, mostly because of how little it is we're really talking about - generally cents if not a dollar or so. Tough situation for you with leave though, we always travel in off season to avoid crowds and higher fees - good news with somewhere like Bali though is how cheap once you get there

Love this series, nice to see you back in Bali, change is always good but wow. We are kinda on the fence to return as flights are double the price and up to 52 hours to get there. Pre-covid we could hook up wth friends on the beach in Canggu in 26 hours from Canada. We Love transferwise, it was fast, cost efficient and a very simple online process. We used this to finance the arrival of our kintamani pup "Ulu" back in October 2020 through Indoanimaltravel. We have so many very wonderful friends in Bali and its good to see you enjoying yourselves

So good to start the New Year with you guys. Very informative . Looking forward to video from Bali. It looks like it's very affordable when you get there and visit. The biggest issue we would have
is traveling from the east coast of the US. which can be expensive. Harriet and I want to go so bad. Here are some questions: The best and most cost-effective time to travel ? Transport by Air
apps you may use for deals ? Is it cheaper to use a guide or do it on your own to get the maximum experience ? Your Thoughts? P.S. We just re-upped our Patreon support for your channel.
Thank you, guys, for all the hard work you put into it. We have been with you from the beginning. Sending you much love 🥰🥰🥰 Jim , Harriet and Yuki. Richmond, Va.

    • @DanegerAndStacey
      @DanegerAndStacey  Год назад +1

Absolutely right there guys, it's pricey for almost everyone to get there (other than Aussies!) but once you arrive you really can get away with a cheap holiday if you want to. To answer your questions:
      - Bali has one of the most eventful season schedules we've ever seen, and it doesn't fit perfectly around rainy season either, but for the most part it aligns with school holidays in somewhere like Aus, so working around that is key to cheaper prices.
      - We use sites like Skyscanner to spot the best deals and most direct or cost effective routes. Then book direct with those airlines.
      - A combo of self exploring and guides in Bali for sure. Transport is key, either your own scooter hire or using taxi / grab, then also hiring a local driver for the day is less than $100 NZD to take you to all the spots you want to see.
      - Thanks again for the support team, MUCH appreciated!

Absolutely loving your Bali trip!!!! So enjoying ourselves and planning what we will do, go & see when we go to Bali sometime in the future! The magnificent options of accommodations!!! Can’t wait to go to Gilli Air!!!
We just did a 13-day trip up to Auckland & Coromandel - from Manawatu - at the end of January and after re-watching this video I thought I would see how much we spent on food, accommodation, fuel and I added spending. It came to a whopping $6000. Much like you we do various accommodations and that was half the cost. Also like you we also do various meal options. And I love getting some souvenirs.
We would love to see a ten must see etc options video for Bali - we are so definitely going after what you have both shared! Ohh thank you for the phone sim & visa / wise card information. How much cash did you spend / need for Bali?

Just a tip. Make sure you use the government site. There is a lot of agency sites doing the visa and their websites look like a govt site. Prices are in US dollars. A lot of people are getting caught out.
I thought price was not bad. Bali is one of those places you spend as little or as much as you want. We spent about $2k for 5 nights over Christmas. But stayed in 5 star hotel on beach. Shame it rained the whole time.
What are your suggestions for a beach holiday in August. We are a bit over Bali. Phuket, Phillipines, Penang is wet season. Fiji not warm enough I don't think. Any ideas?

for what you can get in bali vs other like most countries. Bali is pretty affordable. we spent about 3330 USD in bali for 2 weeks and that included a 2 nights stay at a very expensive eco resort in bali and it was the most beautiful thing i've ever seen and experience in my life. place was absolutely stunning and i know for sure i wouldn't be able to a place like that anywhere else at that price point. even if it was "expensive" it was still very affordable. we also did alot of tour guides stuff instead of going places on our own and we stayed at private pool villa also.
I think most people who say bali is expensive and is from a first world country they probably never travel before or just don't do it alot.

Hey Dane, got a few questions if you don't mind:
    1. What's the website you buy the SIM card from?
    2. Did you get an extra travel insurance coverage or just rely on the travel insurance from the credit card?
    3. Did you exchange cash there or here? It seems like you got a pretty good rate there.
4, What's your tip to avoid Bali belly?
    Cheers!

Just saw this pop up so replying quickly for ya - we just filmed our Top Things vid that will cover this all, but to answer here:
      1 - www.telkomsel.com/en/perdana/tourist-prepaid-card
2- Always get extra insurance, someone in your home country or these guys: geni.us/AoJTOeP
3 - Use Wise/Revolut card to withdraw cash there OR bring your own currency and exchange in Bali, way cheaper than your home banks
4 - Haha good luck avoiding it lol. Nah we only got it bad once from a night market that we should have been more careful, just take some imodium wth ya
