Been a fan of the AFI since around 1996. I remember going to a show of theres at The Galaxy Club in Dallas around 1999 and loosing my glasses. I was in the front row recording the show with my 8mm camcorder and my glasses fell off and thought they were crushed so I never looked for them(alot of people cramming and there was a pit too). About two songs later a guy started yelling "I lost my shoe"and Davey said"I don't have a shoe up here but I have a pair of glasses." I got them back unharmed!!
I have SO much respect for AFI. I've been listening to them since I was 13 years old (I am now 19.) They are a fantastic artist. They have evolved with time, as all people do. They started out in their punk stage and have become more alternative. It's like when teenagers party hard. Trashing houses and being crazy. Give them a few years and they'll still be partying with enthusiasm, but not as out of control. AFI is truly amazing.
This is an amazing cover of INXS. I love the kind of techno feel to it. You can really tell that this is when Davey and Jade started to get into their Blaqk Audio phase.
whoa, they didn't lose their punk side, they just decided not to play punk anymore. They started their progression really early going from Hardcore punk to horror punk/hardcore to Alternative. They didn't lose their punk side.Punk isn't something you magically lose when you "grow up", look at Milo Aukerman and Greg Graffin, punk as fuck. And this is coming from someone who loves their new stuff. You don't stop being a punk if you stop playing punk. Punk is a lifestyle and a mindset.
Can't say I like this near as much as the original. . . but then, I'm old. Anyway, kudos to AFI for reinventing the song with their own artistic spin. That's what any good cover should do-- take an old song and make it new again.
AFI is the first band I've actually been a true fan of. I can look up at them and say 'I want to be like them when I get older' and not be ashamed or laugh at myself for feeling silly. Just 'cause they're awesome like that. Truly, though, their lyrics really make me want to sing out of joy, because every time I listen to one of their songs, I feel like someone finally understands me.
Love this version! I love their covers...kind of cool to see who their influences and idols are. AFI/Blaqk Audio/Davey Havok can do no wrong in my eyes. People who call them a sell-out when they do something different than their early hardcore punk are stupid. Don't you think that they have a right to make money off their music? I think it's brilliant to do something different every once in a while. It is a great way to be heard by people who might not have heard or liked them before. Then they can join the despair faction like the rest of us, and revel in Davey's dark splendor forever.
@XPorphyriaCutaneaX you went to the Marquee? so did i! I heard them play this song on the speakers before the show started. had a fangirl moment. Great show!
I miss when AFI did obscure amazing covers.. what happened to them this era? I respect them as musicians and davey as a lyricist always, but honestly, I wish they'd revert back to even further than this era of music.. I liked the AOD era and STS.. AND BLACK SAILS!!! xo
my life had been a real mess but i remember my close friend telling me to never change who i was and what i am.. i told her befor she died "i would always stay the same person even if i want to be diffrenet i will always be me!" she smiled at me and she said good because if you change i well have to bite you. and we laughed so in a sence i like afi because of her.
punk is not real music! this is real music ! i listen to punk when i get drunk or when i want to jump or something like that, but that's not music, this is music !
@SpacedHalo @josegarcia87 Lol Dude AFI has been my life to. Sad to say I only got into them in 2005 but they are still the best damn band IMO and my absolute FAVORITE! I don't think there is a song I don't like from them. And when I go back and listen to ceral wars then jump to like miss murder, I'm like DAMN! Huge difference in styles. They have changed SO much! But honestly I think it's amazing. People who say they "Sold Out" piss me off. It's called making a living.
@MrErikWik life is short but its the people that make life so important i hope you beloved heals from her sickness. an old guy i once knew told me that what they say can't happen can happen it takes hope and believing!
ugh, davey definitly did not write this, it was written over 25 years ago by INXS, Its a cover...this ones slowed down alot more than the original so people may find it to be more saddening..
@Lionfang396 Well it seems to me they made it in their own way... that is basically the point of a cover song, such as alien ant farms version of smooth criminal, and orgy's version of blue monday... completely different than the originals... I hate bands that try to sound exactly like the band they are covering, whats the point? I could listen to the original if i wanted to hear it...
@mary1868 i'm sorry to hear about the los of your friend, my beloved girlfriend is suffering from cancer and we're going through a similar ordeal. I hope it will all be okay, but either way i can never stop being the man she has made me.
@despina013 Oh wow same here! First band I became an actual fan of... There music relates to my life very well... Some music of my music is inspired by them. (I might upload a video and you'll see) :)
yeah, I get what you're saying, I hate how people look at gay people as if it were a choice to be gay and there's something wrong with them, they're the same exact natual feelings that I have for girls but just directed towards the same gender, no choice just love, man =)
I do like this AFI song very much. They are so different than when they first started out... they've always catered their music to what's popular at the time, punk is not any where near as popular as it was 20 years ago. They are an amazing band no matter what style they play.
Yeah but that's called puberty. This is a sudden and complete 180 shift in the opposite direction. Legitimate change is gradual, so stop trying to pick fights with anyone who questions your precious "mature" music. Whatever the hell that means.
Wow, you people...you need to get over yourselves. Maybe i can clear up everything for you, considering i'm good friends withthe band. AFI cannot be classified as one genre. No, they are not punk and have not been since the 2nd album. They've always been different from one album to the next and will continue to be. There is A LOT of emotion in their music, yes. Dave is a very sentimental and emotional man. This does not mean they are an "emo" band. Hope that helps.
I love AFI , I love cover songs and I have loved this song since I was a kid , But goddamn ! I really dont know what these guys were thinking when they were coming up with this rendition. The original is so beautiful and this right here ... I don't know. It dont do it justice.
@Bleedblack13 That's fan girlish. We don't have to love every album they put out. Liking everything the put out is not a requirement of being a fan. STS was epic. DU was an overproduced waste. CL is awesome. DU was too forced and overproduced, if out of 100 songs they wrote for DU those 12 were the best then something was wrong and I blame interscope.
anyone that says AFI of the last few years is punk don't know their ass from a hole in the ground and shouldn't speak about things they don't know about. They have changed completely from back in the day. They went from PUNK to EMO, period. Every listened to their Blaque Audio? EMO!!! I don't mind how they have changed although i like their old music better than their new stuff but when it comes to you guys talking about what's punk and what's not, old AFI is punk, new AFI is EMO, get over it

Davey is god like!

One of my favorite bands covering one of my favorite bands. Gotta love it.
I was 15 listening to this 😭😭😭 10years ago.
Such a great cover.I like INXS version also,but this is Davey... in all his greatness.
i like this version for some reason its good for when your in that type of mood. Calm and collective.
I have SO much respect for AFI. I've been listening to them since I was 13 years old (I am now 19.) They are a fantastic artist. They have evolved with time, as all people do. Now you're like 32
just... beautiful... enchanting... just brings a rapturous return of memories to me.
Beautiful

This is an amazing cover of INXS. I love the kind of techno feel to it. You can really tell that this is when Davey and Jade started to get into their Blaqk Audio phase.
If things stay the same they wither and die!! Afi has grown up is all.....Great band!!!!
I love AFI forever.
That high pitched hum in the background gives it a very cinematic sound
great cover who takes the song in a differant place and brings something to the table, thx u afi for this great piece of music
Is a great song ..good version too !!!!
whoa, they didn't lose their punk side, they just decided not to play punk anymore. They started their progression really early going from Hardcore punk to horror punk/hardcore to Alternative. And this is coming from someone who loves their new stuff. You don't stop being a punk if you stop playing punk. Punk is a lifestyle and a mindset.
that is the last kiss, one of the all time best songs by afi and any punk band ever!
Can't say I like this near as much as the original. . . but then, I'm old.
Anyway, kudos to AFI for reinventing the song with their own artistic spin. That's what any good cover should do-- take an old song and make it new again.
Some songs shouldn't be covered. This is one.
hahaha wow, can't believe they did this. now someone should get them to cover Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again? and You're The Voice
Anne me too Anne, they're truly amazing people and artists.
Anne I'm a true fan and I've never bin a fan of anything

@Abercrombieand1Bitch
Who cares?
He still remains to be one of the best lyrical writers of our time.
@XPorphyriaCutaneaX you went to the Marquee? so did i!
I heard them play this song on the speakers before the show started. had a fangirl moment. Great show!
Much different from the original, but it is also quite good. They changed the overall mood.
I miss when AFI did obscure amazing covers.. what happened to them this era? I respect them as musicians and davey as a lyricist always, but honestly, I wish they'd revert back to even further than this era of music.. I liked the AOD era and STS.. AND BLACK SAILS!!! xo

We're not talking about 1995!
punk is not real music! this is real music ! i listen to punk when i get drunk or when i want to jump or something like that, but that's not music, this is music !

yeahh it doesn't matter what they are, their amazing either way :]

@MrErikWik
life is short but its the people that make life so important i hope you beloved heals from her sickness. an old guy i once knew told me that what they say can't happen can happen it takes hope and believing!

true that
@Afireinside912 I know he is.
But his music has changed significantly.
He's still an amazing artist, though
well i love AFI :D
this is not an afi song guys. its an inxs cover.
everyone knows what blaqk audio is, but this is AFI actually. its just a cover, they just decided to make it sound this way.
good cover
@Lionfang396 Well it seems to me they made it in their own way... that is basically the point of a cover song, such as alien ant farms version of smooth criminal, and orgy's version of blue monday... completely different than the originals... I hate bands that try to sound exactly like the band they are covering, whats the point? I could listen to the original if i wanted to hear it...

@mary1868 i'm sorry to hear about the los of your friend, my beloved girlfriend is suffering from cancer and we're going through a similar ordeal. I hope it will all be okay, but either way i can never stop being the man she has made me.
Erik Wik did she win her cancer battle?
@@exil3dlivecom :(
@despina013
Oh wow same here! First band I became an actual fan of...
There music relates to my life very well...
Some music of my music is inspired by them. (I might upload a video and you'll see) :)
Where can I get this song?
It doesn't show up anywhere on itunes
@Devoted2Mariah Yeah, 'cause nobody knows who the Misfits or the cure are.
yeah, I get what you're saying, I hate how people look at gay people as if it were a choice to be gay and there's something wrong with them, they're the same exact natual feelings that I have for girls but just directed towards the same gender, no choice just love, man =)
hahahaha
It's Ok,
I mean no one will ever do it like INXS.
But it's a nice change
This is a better version
@SpacedHalo Thank you :]
so sinister from some reason ( the begining)
@despina013 that's exactly how i feel
I do like this AFI song very much. They are so different than when they first started out... they've always catered their music to what's popular at the time, punk is not any where near as popular as it was 20 years ago. They are an amazing band no matter what style they play.
i like the face to face cover better.
alternative? To what? To real music!
@blissfullydead89 What are you talking about? lol
hey...I'm a big INXS fan, but I quite liked this vesion....thank fuck they didn't ruin it...!!
Your point is? So what if he's talking about that.
@DRAGONSPUZZLE
I'm sorry that you have one and i ate it out last night.
Their three newer albums are what they are now.. And those weren't punk.
@Devoted2Mariah I guess you don't understand sarcasm?
Yeah but that's called puberty. This is a sudden and complete 180 shift in the opposite direction. Legitimate change is gradual, so stop trying to pick fights with anyone who questions your precious "mature" music.
Whatever the hell that means.
there is hope in Jesus christ. sorrow leads to repentance.
its sad now that the word gay is suddenly taken as a bad thing, davey havok is gay, this song has been made gay, its the truth
Davey, ya talking to yourself again? I think you changed quite a bit...
rank cover
you people dont understand what afi is really talking about!
are u sure¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿
you spelled allowed wrong.
Wow, you people...you need to get over yourselves. Maybe i can clear up everything for you, considering i'm good friends withthe band. AFI cannot be classified as one genre. I think both versions of this song are amazing
@Devoted2Mariah You're the one that seems angry. Chill, man, chill
@Weezer6676 and davey touched them lol
I just listened to the INXS version and I think this is way better. It's nice and soft, suits the lyrics better imo.
wtf¿¿!!!!!
just a joke right¿
Cool track, it´s a cover of INXS but I like this version even better.
i love this song and they didn't ruin it
its better!

face to face and inxs do it better. I never EVER listened to these guys. happy? yes!
