I never, ever comment on RUclips videos, but I've been listening to AFI for years and years, and after hearing this? Mind. Blown. I think this band will always amaze me. The lyrics in this song...goodness... Wish they would have kept the original title though.
Kylee Trotter naw, I think she meant the rumored title when the EP rumors started swirling, "Chair Kicking," and there was another one that got changed. Either way, TVFH is the superior title imo.
blaqkaudio2011 I actually didn't know that! I thought I'd heard all the b sides from that album, but apparently not. This actually has a bit of a Blaqk Audio vibe... That dark, kinda moody feel like Cities of Night.
this song is so beautiful, definitely should’ve been on Decemberunderground ,the reason I could see why miss murder was chosen instead was because it was more catchy and mainstream, this is more emotional and real, made for true AFI fans 🖤
The vocals sound very December Underground-ish mixed with Blaqk Audio and some Burials. I think this song could've been a hidden track at the end of The Face Beneath the Waves.
So, I have a folder on my pc with all tracks from DU. What I did is I removed Miss Murder from there and put this beauty instead. I listened to the whole thing. Now DU is my favourite completely and absolutely.
Think of it like this. -So softly spoke the sky, "Tonight the city dies." And then he did confide, "Black flowers bloom in lies." It's the storm, the chaos of our world, or the chaos of the punk music of his past and perhaps life in general on this rock. The storm of existence can creat black flowers; perhaps the black flower may represent him or artists like him throughout the modern ear.
This is my #1 favorite AFI song of all time. It used to be a tie between Affliction and 37mm until I heard this long time hidden gem a couple of years back. Its sound is very ambient, beautiful and winter like; perfectly defining Decemberunderground for what it truly is: a well put-together, frosty masterpiece. This would have made a perfect bonus track on the icy clear vinyl set for Decemberunderground (instead of Fallen Like the Sky). Or even better, it could have been a hidden track that plays after a long silent pause at the end of Endlessly, She Said instead. And has anyone else noticed how the song lasts exactly 3:37 long?
Singer/lyricist, always with his bands, never even having to play the instruments himself, write all himself, defend himself, etc. etc. "I'm still alone"... Jade (probably), but perhaps also Adam, at the reindeer bells like: Do they know it's Christmas?
afinewshq got an exclusive gift and they had it up on their website but someone downloaded it and spread it on facebook and other platforms so they took it down from their website but it seems this gentleman got it before it was taken down
I have been listening to AFI since 1999 and Sing the Sorrow is still their best album artistically. Everyone in the comments is like "Oh he wanted this on Decemberunderground, but instead they put Miss Murder on it", keep in mind all you kids who discovered them through Miss Murder wouldn't even know them if this was the song they put on instead. It's a nice little relaxing track, but by no means is it better than 12/21/Miss Murder, as far as trying to use a song to promote an album.
I’m forever grateful for Miss Murder. If it weren’t for Decemberunderground I would of never discovered my favorite band. Everything from answer that and stay fashionable up until now will always make me cherish this band.
It's a valid point, but as a fan of AFI since the same time, I can't agree that the ends justify the means, because the popularity of Miss Murder is also what contributed to a push toward mainstream appeal and away from uniqueness. Sure, said popularity means more people can discover their better material, but it also means their good material is limited to the past.
@@ComradeLavender If you watch enough Davey Havok interviews it wasn't their labels or management that forced them in that direction.
