The big downside to our system is that at 13/14 you're way too young to know with certainty what you wanna do for the rest of your life, therefore so many students (myself included) end up switching school. I attended three years of Science HS, but the maths and physics were just too hard for me, plus i had begun to read comics and draw a lot, therefore i ended up switching to an Art HS for the last two years, where i had a lot more fun, i learned stuff i actually use in my job as a digital freelance illustrator/comic artist and i met my two best friends.
I mean, which high school you choose is irrelevant anyway because as things are in Italy you’re not granted work in the fields you chose in high school. It’s super common for people who chose linguistic high school to end up being architects or illustrators or just end up in a factory. Because the jobs market is garbage and based on where you are you might be forced to do whatever job has an opening at the moment. Or you must know someone in the right place.
Yes, i'm lucky to be one of those who are passionate about sth since birth so i know already which school I want to go to. But my friends don't, and i know it's extremely hard for them to choose. Tho, i still think it helps us to understand more about what we like, which makes it easier to choose if people want to have further study at uni/college later on

The general culture that an Italian high school student has is way above the one of a North American university student. Hands down.
Ho frequentato un liceo classico molto duro, dove i professori pretendevano la perfezione e “inquadravano” la persona in base al rendimento scolastico ( voti dall’8 in su = brava persona; voti dal 7 in giù = avanzo di galera), senza mai darci gratificazioni.
Ho dovuto pure cambiare classe, perché le ragazzine (che invece giudicavano il valore di una persona dal portafoglio dei genitori) mi bullizzavano e mi discriminavano in maniera allucinante.
Gli unici ricordi belli che ho sono la gita in Sicilia (con tanto di tragedie greche a Siracusa), le lezioni di Filosofia (che poi ho scelto all’università), e tutte le cose belle che ho imparato.
Purtroppo io sono una persona che ama imparare, ma non tollera bene il pugno di ferro, e passare i miei anni più delicati lì dentro ha lasciato purtroppo tante problematiche di cui ancora porto il segno, e sulle quali c’è molto da lavorare.
P.S.: Latino e Greco aiutano tantissimo con le altre lingue, e soprattutto danno una chiave non indifferente per capire il mondo e noi stessi
Concordo con il fatto che latino e greco aiutino, ma solo perché sono lingue diverse dalla nostra. Io ho fatto anni di cinese e tedesco, che mi hanno aiutato quanto e più del latino offrendo la possibilità di parlare con dei madrelingua.
Dare a latino e greco un'importanza mistica non fa altro che contribuire all'idea del classico come unica scuola che può "aprire la mente" e formare adeguatamente la classe dirigente. In realtà la differenza la fa la filosofia, che è presente anche nei licei che non fanno greco.

Imparati spagnolo e norvegese vorrei provare il tedesco: il cinese mandarino è molto bello, ma non credo lo studierò.
Mi dispiace che tu sia stato vittima di bullismo a scuola e abbia subito pressioni da parte degli insegnanti. Avendo insegnato a scuola per 40 anni, vorrei conoscere il "metodo perfetto" per insegnare a ogni bambino in base al suo stile di apprendimento, alle sue esigenze e ai suoi interessi. Fortunatamente, più scuole superiori qui negli Stati Uniti, stanno iniziando a insegnare abilità professionali piuttosto che conoscenze inutili.

Stessa per giustificare una totale perdita di tempo che non ti ha dato nulla e non ti ha reso un cittadino migliore
il sistema è apprezzato dagli stranieri e anche da me onestamente ma quello che non sanno è che l’insegnamento è fin troppo pesante, fin troppo a memoria, e alla fine di questi 5 lunghi anni ti rimane poco di come farcela davvero là fuori. la differenza coi licei americani è che lì seppur più leggeri sviluppano altre parti della mente e ti preparano davvero a cosa dovrai affrontare in futuro senza sovraccaricati di nozioni con cui sai già che non farai nulla
poi il vero duro insegnamento è alle università per chi vuole impegnarsi e specializzarsi in un determinato campo.
dovremmo rimodernizzare il nostro metodo d’insegnamento sicuramente, ma l’italiano medio purtroppo si disinteressa completamente dei giovani 🤷♀️
esatto, lo studio a memoria lo trovo super ignorante visto che tanto alla fine le cose le dimentichi subito dopo la verifica, inoltre i professori sono sempre troppo interessati ai voti e finire il loro programma al posto di pensare a se gli studenti hanno davvero capito la lezione
Le università americane fanno un ottimo lavoro nell'aiutare gli studenti a pensare in modo critico, valutare, esprimere buoni giudizi e affrontare il futuro. Alcune scuole superiori stanno iniziando a seguire questo corso.
Sono in disaccordo....mi spiace, come italiana cresciuta ed educata in Italia, ma residente all'estero da molto tempo. Spesso all'estero manca la base, l'educazione generale e pure le nozioni medie per affrontare la vita lavorativa futura. Il tutto viene traslato sulla famiglia... Specialmente in Germania dove la scuola elementare è 4anni e poi si va diretti alla scuola superiore, se sei bravo hai speranza di andare al Gymnasium e poi se hai voglia Università altrimenti ...è difficile se non impossibile. Come straniera ho fatto carriera all'estero proprio grazie alle solide basi ottenute dall'educazione italiana.
Le scuole americane hanno la cosa bella che alcune materie sono obbligatorie di curriculum, e poi ti scegli altre materie in base a cosa ti interessa. Figata. E poi è una figata la cosa dei club doposcuola.
In America ti insegnano peggio diventi anche meno critico, ma questo difficile dirlo, in America si creano debiti inutili per le università pure di 3 classe e si dice che senza la laurea non vali nulla.
USA è peggio un sistema per rendere ricchi e più poveri i giovani, in pratica è l’Italia, ma i debiti ci mette 20 anni a pagarli in pratica un mutuo per una piccola casa.
You guys are helping me so much learning italian. Hearing People Talk about random topics in italian, with italian subtitles is the most efficient way for me to pick up that language. In combination with a text book of course.

For me the problem wasn't the choice, I knew what I wanted to do. It was my parents, who wanted me to go to an academic high school and absolutely not at those "awful technical institutes where you don't learn _the culture"._ I wanted to study IT, not latin!
In the end high school hasn't brought me anything, I'm still studying stuff that I would have learned years ago if I went in the school I wanted to get into, and my lifelong friend who actually did go to a similar school already has the job I dreamt about as a kid. Oh well, I'll get there
Parents, let your kids follow their dreams or you're gonna end up with disappointments and wasted years. Guide them, don't force them!

In the Liceo Scientifico Tecnologico (now Liceo Scienze Applicate) they di IT instead of Latin (and a lot more lab than regular Liceo Scientifico).

yes but don't underestimate culture. When you speak to someone, you can absolutely tell when they have a bit of culture or not, it's very evident. After an academic high school you can still do everything you want, and if you did it right you have enough knowledge to keep yourself from very bad people. Be grateful for your parents made a good choice
@@TheLifeLaVita my parents made an absolutely awful choice. I still love them, but no, after an academic school you're at the bottom of the barrel to do the things I enjoy to do. It's way harder to get a job as employers look for people who have more practice first, and it's also harder to get the education I wanted to have and I would have had five years ago already. It's still culture, but Italians absolutely don't wanna call it culture for some reason. Don't force a kid that is inclined to go into STEM, into humanistic, artistic or linguistic stuff.
I'm way happier now, studying things I'm actually interested in in a way I want to study, and even though most of the people I'm in class with never went to an academic high school they're still beautiful people. You can't tell ""culture"", you feel if a good person is a good person.
Don't read this comment as an insult, it's just that it's the excuse most parents use and it's absolutely not true, it does more harm than good to kids like me.

The difference is that instead of being ignorant and without mental practice and slow you would be much more. you are the one differentiating the ""culture"" with the "still culture". Going off based on the common misconceptions that technical institutes have nowadays is not the way to go, because they are just misconceptions. It wasn't the case many years ago, but unfortunately it is now
I really don't know if this option is present in America, but in Italy schools are often open also during night for adult workers that wants new specializations and degrees.
"Scuole serali" or "Nigh schools" are a common thing here. I've frequented it for three years from 2012 to 2015 to obtain a degree of mechanic technician. Right now I'm 38 years old. Never went to university but, it's not necessary for the jobs I do usually.
I'm also a natural bilinguo since I was born in Friuli and here you speaks both Italian and Friulano. Then I'm trying to speak correctly English. Not that I need it for work duties.
What else? Yeah schools was quite hard even when I was adult.

There are night classes in America. Both for high schoolers and college students. Availability really goes by a town by town situation. The town I was from had night school for up to so many credits/classes. Some classes in college are only available during the day due to teacher schedules. Might find more availability for such things in cities though, but even then people will likely have to crossover to day school classes or online to fill the rest of their needs, but that's about the extent of it.
The Italians, in general, are highly educated. It is unfortunate that so many youth are leaving the country as there is not enough work for them. I would sincerely hate to see Italy lose its cultural identity. Please get Matteo to start a campaign for high speed internet all over the country. That way Italians, and other high skilled professionals from other countries can live in Italy and work remotely. It is all up to Matteo!!! ✌ (some American)
I live in L.A. There are a large number of Swiss, Dutch, etc. engineers and scientists in aerospace here. They could no find work in their home countries.
@@douglaswilkinson5700 I simply see what Portugal has done. They are attracting educated workers from around the world for remote work. I wish Italy could do the same.
They call us PIGS but they would die to having been born in Portugal, Italy, Greece or Spain.

I went to a high school like this is the US and there are others like it in the area I live in, my subject was advertising art and photography and there were other subjects that were meant to lead to specific careers. But it’s not the norm in the US. I even got to do an internship at a photography gallery which was very interesting!
As much as I regret having to leave Italy when I was 13, I am always glad I missed liceo. I’ve seen many of my friends, who had always been good/average at school, get bocciati over the years.
The difference in academic level between Italy and Ireland is immense. I was able to coast the first 3 years of secondary school (basically 6 years of media/liceo) with all As and Bs just from remembering what I did alle medie (having English speaking parents at home also helped a lot…). But it could always be harder, I can’t even imagine what Chinese, S. Korean and Japanese students go through.
Io ho fatto il Liceo Musicale. È un liceo relativamente nuovo dove si studia la musica sotto tutti i punti di vista. Per entrare in questo liceo bisogna sostenere un piccolo esame d’ammissione, dove una commissione valuta il livello del candidato. Oltre a studiare le materie curricolari come italiano, matematica, filosofia etc. Ci sono 6 materie d’indirizzo relative alla musica:
-Teoria, analisi e composizione: Si tratta degli aspetti più teorici della musica dove vengono trattati il solfeggio, l’armonia, l’analisi, la teoria musicale, e a volte ear training e composizione;
-Storia della musica: Tratta l’intera storia della musica classica dalle sue origini fino agli anni ‘30/‘40;
-Tecnologie musicali: Viene approfondita la musica nel contesto digitale è messa in pratica su computer attraverso vari programmi;
-Esecuzione ed interpretazione I e II strumento: Si tratta della pratica dello strumento col quale si entra nel liceo (I strumento) e dello strumento complementare che viene assegnato dalla commissione dell’esame d’ammissione (II strumento);
-Laboratorio di musica d’insieme: divisa per il biennio in musica da camera e per il triennio in orchestra.
Sicuramente non mi pento della mia scelta, avendo trovato una classa molto accogliente nella quale ho conosciuto tra l’altro la mia migliore amica. Un ricordo sicuramente bello è stato un gemellaggio che facemmo in terzo superiore in Germania durato una settimana, ma del resto era tutto fantastico. Un ricordo brutto, invece, è il fatto di non aver potuto godermi a pieno il IV e V anno, essendo in piena pandemia COVID (mi sono diplomato nel 2021), ma nonostante ciò ho amato i miei anni di liceo. 🥰
Quello non e’ un liceo. I veri licei sono classico e scientifico e se li fai in maniera seria, odi quegli anni. Se l avessi saputo…
@@toffonardi7037 Ah giusto, scusami! Giustamente se non hai studiato versioni di latino e greco, o matematica non hai frequentato un “””VeRo LiCEo”””. Io sicuramente non ho studiato queste cose, ma restavo a scuola per 10 ore 4 giorni a settimana frequentando lezioni per lo più, ma anche progetti extra scolastici che garantivano i crediti. Non solo io ero pendolare tra l’altro e per arrivare da casa mia a scuola impiegavo 2 ore ad arrivare, tra pullman e treno; quindi la mia giornata scolastica iniziava alle 5:30 di mattina e finiva alle 20:00, quando tornavo a casa. Ovviamente seguiva lo studio di 13 materie fino alle 1:00 di notte. Non mi sono mai lamentato per la stanchezza perché amavo la scuola che ho scelto, ed amavo vedere tutti i giorni i miei amici alle 8:00 di mattina prima di entrare. E se proprio ci tieni a sostenere ancora questa teoria vecchia e bigotta del “solo il liceo classico e il liceo scientifico sono scuole serie”, ti dico che ogni scuola, a modo suo, è bella e ha le sue difficoltà all’interno delle varie materie d’indirizzo. Inoltre dato che il musicale è liceo così semplice, fammi sapere se riesci ad armonizzare un basso senza commettere errori, a solfeggiare un esercizio in setticlavio con abbellimenti, o ancora, a trasformare una sinusoide in onda triangolare su reaper. Ti saluto! 💋
Ps: Non capito inoltre il fatto del “fare il liceo in modo serio”. Stai insinuando che io non abbia affrontato il liceo in maniera seria? Beh, ti dirò. Ho amici che hanno frequentato il classico e lo scientifico, 7/10 avevano debiti su debiti ed erano sempre in giro a fare aperitivo e prendere il caffè. Io invece mi spaccavo la schiena studiando sodo, tanto da diplomarmi con 100, mentre loro MAGICAMENTE sono stati promossi con voti che vanno dall’80 al 90. Quindi si, ho vissuto a pieno la mie esperienza da liceale impegnandomi da un lato, ma anche divertendomi.

The problem here in Italy are the teachers, of course not all, but they generally don't care about us. We really let the worst of the people teach and act like nothing, like they don't contribute to shape our personality and thus can cause great damage to someone's life...
Totally agree, I think we could reduce the time and difficulty by keep the same level of studied material compared to America, if we just had prepared teachers. Combine them with more active sport and artistic materials, volunteer work that Americans do. I wouldn't just copy the American system bc it feels too competitive and not with necessarly better teachers or teachings from such activities. A teacher I know can't even write english and teaches not for from NY. She's an old foreigner who didn't even grow up learning English.
@@Claxen11 More sports subjects are just completely useless, but I agree about the artistic ones. Once I was in the High school I missed the music subject a lot, and also art.
Se "il problema" sono i professori, allora il problema è la Scuola, perché, in Italia, i professori la portano avanti completamente da soli, senza risorse né indicazioni valide.
@@Ariom76 sono d'accordo solo in parte, un grande problema sicuramente lo sono anche le infrastrutture...ma ti assicuro che un professore bravo sa insegnare anche in mezzo al bosco. Secondo me il modo in cui è strutturato il nostro sistema scolastico è buono e può funzionare se applicato bene. Io non mi metto certo a parlare di tutto è ovvio che ci sono tanti problemi ho semplicemente parlato di quello secondo me più dannoso
@@wandamiranda6225 nel 2022 si può fare lezione bene in mezzo a un bosco?? Quanto anni fa hai fatto le scuole? In ogni caso diciamo la stessa cosa: se il problema sono i professori (tanto che, se il professore è bravo può far lezione anche in un bosco....) allora la scuola tutta è da rivedere, perché a parere tuo il problema è proprio il suo perno: i professori. Seconda cosa: i professori non sono esseri che spuntano per partenogenesi negli istituti scolastici: vogliamo parlare di chi li seleziona e dei metodi di reclutamento? Se sono pessimi perché arrivano in cattedra? Questo non se lo chiede mai nessuno.
Italian high schools seem quite rigorous and thorough. Well done! In the USA, I think students are more concerned about self help and less education.
It’a completely useless and because it’s so hard mayority of people hate studying and when they finish school they stop to learn and that’s why the average cultural level of italians is very low,

the issue with it is, none of the kids here like school. i am currently in italian highschool and nobody wants to be there, they are just waiting for their 16th birthday so that they can legally drop out. the lack of interesting activities like sports gives them no motivation to stay in school, and at least half of the class has failed a year before. if the school year were to end now, only 2 people would pass to the next year, they have no reason to try to pass
@@brick9046 American public high schools in the city have severe issues with violence, guns and high drop out rates. Private high schools have higher success goals. Best of luck to you!
Sembra che i sistemi educativi spagnolo ed italiano erano molto simili anni fa, quando io ho frequentato la scuola superiore. Io ho fatto il liceo classico col latino, greco, filosofia e altri. Lo ricordo con molta nostalgia come i tempi più belli della mia vita.

Io sono andato al Liceo Classico.
Come qualcuno ha già commentato, il nostro sistema scolastico prevede forse un po' troppo presto di fare una scelta che indirizzi verso un determinato ambito. Anche se dopo il liceo sei ancora libero di scegliere. Ma in alcuni ragazzi di 13/14 anni forse questo può solo creare un po' di confusione. Conosco infatti molti casi in cui i ragazzi decidono di cambiare scuola già dopo i primi mesi.
Nel mio caso sono stati i miei genitori a dirigermi, quasi obbligandomi, ma in seguito è stata la scelta migliore per me. (Non mi piaceva la matematica!)
In ogni caso, credo che il livello di preparazione del nostro sistema scolastico sia molto alto, rispetto a certi altri paesi. Peccato che molto di questo potenziale si perda quando si scontra con il mondo del lavoro.
Un bel ricordo: alcuni compagni di classe con i quali sono ancora amico e, ovviamente, le gite scolastiche.
Un brutto ricordo: il greco antico! Ho davvero faticato!😅
P.S. Il piatto che ha cucinato il ragazzo a scuola è la "Chitarra (pasta all'uovo simili agli spaghetti, ma di forma quadrata) alla Teramana", un piatto originario della mia città, Teramo.

Il livello di preparazione dello studente medio italiano è scarso, basti vedere i risultati dei test PISA dove l'Italia si colloca al di sotto della media OCSE. Ciò che abbassa notevolmente il rendimento medio sono i pessimi risultati degli studenti di istituti tecnici e professionali, ancor più deludenti per Sud ed Isole.
Se invece guardiamo alla qualità delle università italiane, in media, questa, è piuttosto deludente a causa della scarsa qualità della maggior parte delle università italiane.
Questi dati spiegano in larga parte la stagnazione della produttività del lavoro in Italia da circa 30 anni.

I went to an art high school! A lot of people think we only draw and do drugs all day... little do the masses know, we also study things like Physics, Chemistry and Philosophy! It was tough, but luckily I had very good professors who made me enjoy studying and learning things. As for the art part... we couldn't draw (or sculpt, mind you) just anything we wanted, classes were project based and we had to complete at least two projects per term, and they had to be good!
As a former art highschool student who passed by God's will: I can confirm.
confermo anch'io . e poi il liceo artistico era diviso in 2 sezioni: uno accademico con indirizzo pittura (o titolo simile) o architettura e uno sperimentali suddiviso in ulteriori tre sezioni dopo il biennio: sezione grafica, artistica e restauro.
e avevamo sia materie umanistiche che scientifiche (quindi italiano, letteratura, storia geografia, mate, fisica, chimica per 2 anni) più storia dell'arte e laboratori (però di questi ricordo solo poche volte che li abbiamo fatti)
Il liceo italiano sembra molto più avanzato del liceo americano.
Confermo, qui in uk i licei e le università son molto più facili.

In germania le superiori iniziano a 10 anni, quindi a 9 anni dopo la Grundschule devono scegliere tra Gymnasium, Hauptschule o Realschule. Anche se in realtà per entrare al Gymnasium bisogna avere la media del 9,25 almeno. L’università può essere frequentata solo dagli studenti del Gymnasium, perciò già dalla prima elementare i bambini tedeschi sono messo difronte alla dura realtà che il loro andamento scolastico decreterà in maniera totalmente apatica e cinica il loro futuro. In Italia ce la passiamo di lusso.

Hi! Italian student here. I feel like high school and more specifically liceo choice is important not really on the base of what you will do "when you grow up" but what you want to do in your high school years.
I'm still finishing with school myself, so I can't give a first person perspective, but both of my parents studied at Liceo Scientifico and then went on to study humanitarian studies and had no problem!
In New Zealand you can choose from many options at high school which is great! If you want to change your subjects you can, and you are never stuck doing something you don’t like doing!

Io ho fatto il Liceo Artistico. Abbiamo avuto tantissime materie, anche se alcune sono durate solo per due o tre anni. Metterò gli anni dopo ciascuna materia:
Italiano (5), Storia (5), Matematica (5) Fisica (3), Storia dell’Arte (5), Inglese (5), Diritto (2), Scienze e Biologia (2), Chimica (2), Disegno Tecnico (5), Educazione Fisica (5), Filosofia (3).
E poi c’erano le materie di Arte, che erano senza dubbio la parte più bella della scuola: i primi due anni avevamo 4 ore alla settima di Discipline Pittoriche (disegno a matita, tecnica del chiaroscuro e poi matite colorate) e altre 4 ore di Discipline Plastiche (modellazione con la creta e poi del gesso).
Avevamo due grandi aule dove facevamo pratica. Ogni studente aveva la sua postazione, con un cavalletto per i disegni o per la creta. I cavalletti erano disposti in circolo e al centro della stanza c’erano i soggetti da raffigurare. I primi due anni si faceva disegno dal vero di nature morte (oggetti come bottiglie e vasi), mentre con la creta facevamo delle repliche di parti di statue famose (ad esempio avevo fatto l’occhio del David di Michelangelo).
Poi al terzo anno dovevamo scegliere un indirizzo di specializzazione: Discipline Pittoriche, Discipline Plastiche o Discipline Grafiche. A quel punto le ore dedicate all’arte durante la settimana diventavano 12, ma facevi solo la materia che avevi scelto.
Io avevo scelto Discipline Pittoriche, così non ho più fatto discipline plastiche (Scultura). Ed é stato un peccato…mi sarebbe piaciuto continuare scultura. Ma ho approfondito con pittura a olio, acrilico, acquerelli e tante altre tecniche… Al quinto anno avevamo anche la modella che veniva a posare per fare il ritratto dal vero!
Era una scuola impegnativa (siamo arrivati ad avere 44 ore di studio alla settimana, dal lunedì al sabato, con due pomeriggi a settimana) ma é stata incredibile!!! Mi é servita per il lavoro? No, ma almeno ho studiato cose importanti di cultura generale e in più ho potuto imparare tante cose a livello artistico, divertendomi! 🥰🥰

Io ho fatto un anno di classico e poi sono passata al linguistico umanistico in un istituto privato. Poi ho fatto esperienza lavorativa come interprete e in corrispondenza estera, dopodiche sono entrata a tempo pieno in un ashrama induista dove ho studiato sanscrito e indologia senza preoccuparmi di cerificati, diplomi e titoli accademici. A quel punto ho cominciato a fare traduzioni e pubblicare presentazioni, e oggi insegno induismo agli indiani induisti.

Secondo me’ si impone troppo presto una scelta forzata che può creare confusione durante gli anni di studio. Nel mio caso, artistico, architettura per poi finir come hotel manager a Wimbledon 😅

I am an Italian newcomer to Canada, and one thing that I am really sorry about is that my little daughter won’t get the general culture that she would have got in an Italian high school, an Italian Liceo.
Don’t be. She will have much more fun studying in Canada and will actually learn tons of practical things and gets to experience way more variety. It italian schools it’s mostly theory, noone gains practical knowledge and imagination is not welcome, sadly.

@@krevetisupp it depends on which high school you choose if you choose a liceo it is obvious that you will do more theory because by choosing it you will have more outlets at university if instead you choose a professional, for example, 1 you do two years less than liceo and 2 you do more practice than theory (this I think also applies to technicians but I'm not sure)

Biggest problem is that there aren't enough schools nearby, unless you live in big places. A lot of people I knew, before moving out, were forced to choose a specific school because it was the only decent high school in like 20km
Io invece ho fatto il liceo linguistico con " progetto Brocca" , dove si studiava più letteratura straniera che le lingue ( la grammatica la si studiava ai primi due anni e con l' insegnante di conversazione avevamo un' ora alla settimana).
Il liceo che ho frequentato era parecchio impegnativo e gli insegnanti pretendevano tanto dagli studenti.
Dio Signore il progetto Brocca me lo sono beccata anche io 🤣...all'artistico facendo beni culturali anzi praticamente i primi due anni erano uguali al classico poi sceglievi l'indirizzo. Feci tanto diritto in materia di beni culturali, chimica dell'arte, chimica, fisica, matematica, tecniche artistiche pratiche e teoriche che si legavano con la chimica ovviamente. C'era l'extra del latino anche...insomma sicuramente pesante però me lo sono ritrovato tutto all'università. Ho fatto la triennali in England in confronto ai miei coetanei inglesi sembravo essere io l'insegnante.

Il sistema sembra un po’ simile di questo in Bosnia… Ho studiato il liceo classico, penso, con molti soggetti diversi come matematica, fisica, storia, geografia, psicologia, sociologia, logica, letteratura, le lingue (inglese, tedesco e latino)… dopo sono diventato un ingegnere elettrotecnico ed adesso faccio l’insegnante di scuola superiore (diversi soggetti collegati con elettrotecnica ed informatica). Comunque, sono molto soddisfatto

Io ho studiato in un istituto tecnico in cui si insegnavano tre lingue (due dal primo anno e una dal terzo), fisica, scienze, arte, diritto ed economia, informatica...più le materie di base come italiano, matematica, geografia, storia ed educazione fisica. In pratica di "tecnico" aveva ben poco: era un mix di materie. 😀 Sono contenta di averlo scelto ma all'inizio ero indecisa con il Liceo Classico perché avrei voluto studiare le lingue antiche e la letteratura classica.

Trieste, Liceo Classico, F. Petrarca, ovviamente con italiano, greco, latino filosofia, storia, storia dell'arte, matematica, chimica, biologia, fisica, educazione fisica e poi insegnamento della religione cattolica. Ho avuto grandi professori come Loredana Bernobini (greco e latino), Fulvia Kostoris (matematica e fisica) Anita Burian (storia e filosofia), Prof Larese e prof Sustersich (chimica e biologia) Prof. Grillo al ginnasio e prof. Bernardi al liceo (tedesco e inglese). Ho fatto il Conservatorio Tartini di Trieste con la grande Edda Calvano e mi sono diplomata molto più tardi, in UK perchè ero negata per la musica. Ho creato amicizie indimenticabili. Oggi ho due lauree: una in chimica con dottorato in chimica macromolecolare ed una conseguita a Cambridge in UK in British Language and Literature. I learnt Japanese with little difficulty when I was sent to Japan for 4 years, University of Shizuoka (easy...). I humbly thanks my professors for their dedication to their job.
What's the weird part about it? I'm from Argentina which is not even in Europe and other than the names of the branches it doesn't sound that different. For example I went for "Economy and Business Management" just because I hated History :P but there was also "Humanities", "Art and Communication" and maybe others I don't quite remember now. There were also the technical ones which usually involved a longer school day but in the end you become an electrician, master builder, etc., which is why technical was the preferred one for people not intending to go to college.
I'm saying all this in the past tense cause I don't know if it still works the same. It was more than 20 years ago.

Il problema di fondo è che tu non puoi pensare di mettere un tredicenne di fronte ad una scelta che potenzialmente lo condizionerà fino alla maggiore età, semplicemente perchè è pieno di famiglie di merda che obbligano i figli a fare un liceo perchè alle cene con amici e parenti fa figo dire "eh mio figlio fa il liceo" (Visto che ancora sussiste questo mito del liceo come scuola superiore d'eccellenza), così come è pieno di professori delle medie che se lo sentono più lungo se mandano metà della classe ad un liceo al posto che ad un tecnico o professionale. Risultato? Ci troviamo masnade di ragazzini che magari perdono due anni di studio perchè plagiati da adulti che trattano il futuro degli studenti più giovani come un'auto costosa da sfoggiare.
Personalmente non ho trovato questo riscontro. Si certo alle medie una delle mie compagne fu costretta dal padre a prendere lo Scientifico col Latino, ma per il resto abbiamo fatto tutti la nostra scelta personale. Poi al liceo è vero c'è stata tanta gente che poi si è trasferita, ma tendo anche a mente che il mio liceo è lo scientifico più difficile della provincia, bene o male tutta la gente che ha cambiato proprio indirizzo era gente che non ci provava nemmeno a studiare, della serie vai all'interrogazione e fai scena muta per mezz'ora.

La matematica è bellissima se te la spiegano come si deve: all'università mi è piaciuta molto e riuscivo a seguire i ragionamenti complessi per arrivare alle soluzioni (avevo una versione light di analisi 1), al liceo non capivo un tubo perché la docente dava per scontato parecchie cose e ho annaspato per tutti e sei gli anni (perché ho capito così bene la quinta ginnasio che ho deciso di farla due volte).

CI vorrebbe una riforma scolastica ad ogni modo. tipo 5 anni di elementari, 5 di medie e poi scegliere i 3 di specializzazione ( e non a 13/14 anni ma già a 15/16 la differenza sarebbe enorme ).
Nel mio caso ho fatto un anno di scientifico per scoprire di amare le lingue straniere e di essere negato per la matematica. Ho poi cambiato rifacendo l'anno in un Istituto tecnico per il turismo. Questo per dire che comunque un anno di differenza mi ha portato più coscienza e consapevolezza di cosa avrei voluto fare in futuro.
Ad oggi sono felicemente un GM nel settore dell'hotellerie e dell'accoglienza, ho due figli, uno che ha già fatto il suo percorso scolastico e uno alle medie, e sono convinto che la scuola italiana, seppur ottima, andrebbe comunque riformata a livello di "gradi".
Non sono per nulla d'accordo, le medie sono state (e sono quasi sempre per tutti) un periodo veramente brutto e molto poco entusiasmante, dove puoi trovare tutti i tipi di persona esistenti e fare materie che odi a morte. Fare 5 anni di liceo, invece, è molto, molto più divertente ed entusiasmante se scegli bene, e se anche fai la scelta sbagliata puoi pur sempre cambiare. Inoltre... Studiare materie che non ti serviranno in futuro per due anni in più è completamente inutile e non formativo.
Per nulla d'accordo, rifarei mille volte il classico e in tre anni quella scuola non si fa...
io odiavo le medie,non solo per i prof ma anche per i compagni (a parte una o due) quindi non so se sopporterei 5 anni in quella situazione. forse aggiungerei un anno di elementari come in giappone e le medie lascerei sempre 3 anni max. il liceo invece quando cambiai dalle scienze sociali al liceo artistico è stata una ventata d'aria fresca: sempre difficili erano le materie o potevano sembrarmi lezioni di geroglifici (le materie scientifiche) ma non cambierei questa scelta, soprattutto per i compagni!!! anzi mi dispiaque che furono solo 4 anni e non 5!
forse forse se proprio dovessi cambiare opterei per il linguistico, ma ciò dipende anche quanto dista la scuola da casa mia!XD a 14-15 anni un genitore non ti lascia vivere in un'altra città da solo/a, non sei sempre abbastanza maturo da ottenere tale fiducia dai propri genitori. certo se per caso hai un parente in quella città i genitori potrebbero essere disposti e concedertelo (questo discorso lo scrivo solo perchè è la fortuna che ho avuto io per poter andare al liceo artistico 😄)

Ho frequentato il liceo classico (finito un anno fa) e sono stati probabilmente i cinque anni più belli della mia vita scolastica. Ero sicuro della scelta sin dalle elementari e dunque non ho vissuto ciò che in molti descrivono (la difficoltà della scelta a 13-14 anni). La scelta è stata abbastanza precoce anche per via dell'ambiente familiare, sin da piccolo, pur capendoci poco, ero sempre curioso di ascoltare i discorsi dei più grandi e quando si riunivano mio padre e due dei miei zii gli argomenti erano sempre filosofia, letteratura (italiana, greca e latina) e storia ed ascoltare loro mi ha fatto appassionare presto.
La scuola era sicuramente una scuola dura, soprattutto nel mese di maggio considerando che le materie erano tante e in classe eravamo solo 15. Lo studio si protraeva anche fino alle 3 di notte (ma un po' anche a causa del mio procrastinare sino a tardi nella giornata per iniziare a studiare "seriamente" solo in serata), ma studiavo tutto con piacere (anche fisica o matematica), quindi andare a scuola e studiare era più fare una cosa che mi piaceva che adempire ad un obbligo, anche se nei periodi più intensi si accumulava molto stress.
Ci sarebbe anche da dire che essendo una scuola di provincia non si avvertiva la presenza di un bullismo "snob" descritto in altri commenti, ed essendo in 200 circa (il classico era la succursale) ci si conosceva un po' tutti.

Personally, I'm 13 and I'm an Italian so I'm about to choose which high school I will do, but you can notice what you wanna do in the future since elementary school, bc the state makes you learns all the subjects since elementary and then in the "middle" school (aka 6, 7 and 8 grade) you start to choose what you wanna do, bc you start being really good of you really like that specific subject.

Secondo me è sbagliato far scegliere ai ragazzi così presto quale strada intraprendere alla fine delle medie. Se potessi tornerei indietro e farei un altro tipo di scuola superiore. Dopo il liceo, ormai avevo la strada indirizzata da una parte e non potevo cambiare completamente percorso all'università.

Sì che potevi. L'università è fatta apposta per permettere a tutti di potersi rimettere in pare. Ovviamente all'inizio dovrai studiare di più se per esempio scegli un indirizzo scientifico ma non hai fatto lo scientifico, però in teoria è possibile. La differenza è che la maggior parte dei tuoi compagni sceglierà un certo ambito, e se fai una certa scelta potrai trovarti da solo. Ma quello succede anche a chi va a studiare fuori, quindi.

@@giuliamoraschetti8301 Io inizialmente studiavo lingue all'uni (avendo fatto il linguistico) e no, partono dalle basi (almeno nel mio caso poi bho). Infatti alcuni studenti venivano dallo scientifico. Nessuno ti obbliga a continuare col percorso scelto al liceo. Io cambiai uni perchè mi resi conto che studiare lingue mi faceva abbastanza cagare e ho fatto tutt'altra cosa. Una mia ex compagna di classe sta facendo architettura e un altro medicina. Scegli tu cosa fare

Ho pensato anche di fare lingue orientali che partivano da zero, ma x entrarci dovevi avere un voto minimo di maturità (cagata pazzesca, se vuoi fare a numero chiuso, fai test d'ingresso, non basare tutto su un voto che non attesta x niente le tue capacità, specialmente nel mio caso che ho fatto scientifico e non c'entra niente con lingue orientali). Ho studiato giapponese per conto mio, e sarei partita avvantaggiata in una facoltà del genere 😒

Io ho dovuto scegliere 2 anni fa. Io ho fatto una buona scelta ma ho visto molti fare scelte sbagliate e pentirsene. Il problema è che ti fanno fare la scelta all’inizio della terza media e non alla fine, quando si completano una serie di lezioni che insegnano meglio la differenza tra le varie scuole, inoltre durante la terza si scopre di più cosa si vuole fare. E così molti sono costretti a cambiare

lavoro presso una scuola privata e gli ordinamenti sono evoluti moltissimo negli ultimi 10 anni. Percorsi come Geometra, Ragioniere e altri hanno assunto una nuova denominazione (come Amministrazione Finanza e Marketing per ragioneria) abbiamo anche licei che un decennio fa non avevamo. Poi abbiamo un tesoro inestimabile che è rappresentato dalla creatività e le capacità di molti ragazzi Italiani. Tanti purtroppo lasciano la scuola a metà superiori perché non si appassionano, a volte la responsabilità è del metodo di "consiglio" che i prof della scuola medie danno agli alunni di fine licenza media. Parlo spesso con ragazzi che magari hanno abbandonato una liceo e si sono affiancati a figure professionali nel settore della meccanica, elettronica, moda, informatica (e potrei aggiungerne altre) giovani che hanno trovato passione nel lavoro e che sono delle eccellenze di competenza e professionalità, le aziende vedono il potenziale di un ragazzo e gli permettono di evolvere anche se poi sono costretti a diplomarsi altrimenti non hanno accesso a degli inquadramenti adeguati all'interno dell'azienda. Le scuole e le aziende devono parlarsi di continuo, i nostri ragazzi sono incredibili!

Nonostante mi abbiano dato una chance è come se proprio non mi volessero perché hanno fatto di tutto per non farmi passare e ci sono riusciti (non hanno invato i programmi per l'esame solo a me, mandavano email automatiche per rispondere alle mie, la segreteria non aiutava, durante l'esame che non mi è uscito non davano consigli solo a me mentre alle altre si, non mi hanno mandato i voti, mi hanno fatto sprecare un anno inutilmente quando potevo andare a fare gli esami di recupero per la mia scuola originale visto che sapevano sin da subito che non sarei passata)

On the surface to protest against some political issue... But to be honest we used to do it to skip school
the guy above is right but students are the future of a country so sometimes they are involved in protests too. (for example work fatalities in obbligatory high school interships)
Usualy students are really into politics (or at least they used to be), so it's normal for students to protest or to occupy a school. The main critique made by those who don't support those movements are about students doing it only in order to skip school, but they are just avoiding (on purpose) the point of the protest and most of the times they're wrong.
We also have to contextualize which years are we talking about. Students have always protested being actively involved in politics, in order to obtain a better scholastic system (better funded by the state) and infrastructures (if you were to see some schools in Italy you'd quickly realize how bad, old and dangerous they are). The more politically involved protests are usually done by universities' students, a lot of them were seen during the 70s/80s being very difficult years for the country as well, full of corruption, terroristic attacks and mafia involvements.
Too bad you didn't said anything about the more tecnic schools. The schools that you said, at the end you are a little bit forced to go to a university, because you can't really do any job. Everytime you hear the world "liceo" it's a school where you got to go univeristy after
Come tanti hanno già menzionato, anche io ritengo che far scegliere -in parte- il destino di una persona a 13/14 sia troppo prematuro. Il livello di maturazione dei ragazzi, specialmente a quell’età, è troppo irregolare, c’è chi matura prima e chi dopo. Io a quella età, già durante le scuole medie, non avevo avuto bellissime esperienze (non in termini di rendimento, ma di vita scolastica in generale). Al momento della fatidica scelta non sapevo cosa fare e sono stato mandato al famigerato Alberghiero. Non vi dico il livello bassissimo di quella scuola (quella che ho frequentato io), a parte pochissime eccezioni, non ricordò assolutamente nulla di ciò che ho “imparato” li. Se non fosse per 2 professori contati, sono stati 5 anni di professori per niente all’altezza, un istituto allo sbaraglio. Mi sono ritrovato a trovare i miei interessi in termini di lavoro molti anni più tardi.
Non capisco chi dice che sia prematuro scegliere a 14 anni la propria scuola, perché in qualsiasi momento, se ti rendi conto di aver fatto una cazzata, puoi cambiare la tua scelta in qualsiasi momento, anche in quinta.

I'm saying this as an italian: it's madness to ask such young boys and girls to make that choice at 13. And even for those that have, more or less, and idea of what they might like to do as grown-ups, let's be honest, sometimes the parents try to push you in a different direction.. either because they've heard/think what you chose will lead you nowhere, or because they themselves think a certain school would be best for the child. I'm not proud to write this, but I ended up as a drop-out at 16 due to pressure, the insane amount of things to study on a DAILY basis (half of which you don't get to choose but you have to study anyways because they come with your choice's "package"), and underlying anxiety issues that started to surface in full force as a result of it all. It's been more than 10 years since and I still have nightmares, occasionally, about being back in high school and having forgotten to prepare for a test and such. Also, I don't know why, but a bunch of high school professors turn up to be legit psychopaths that could've given Hitler a run for his money! I'm mostly grateful about the fact that I've met my to-this-day best friend there, but not much else.
I have a 13yo cousin that has to go through that same stuff right now, and my heart breaks for him, because he's so confused about it all and what choosing one means over the other, eventually. I'm afraid our school system hasn't changed much, and it HAS to. For the well being of ALL attending students, present and future.
I've never thought about the choose of hight school as an important one, I've always seen it as "what is the subject you hate less so you'll jave to spent the next 5 years doing as littel of that a possible". Yeh it's true sometimes you truly have a lot on your plate, and you just want to lay on your bed and die rather than haveing to deal with that. Yet somehow I think than personaly speaking this kind of work has helped me a,, sure there have been points where I truly found the ammount of stuff I had to do was unhealthy, but on a regular day it did healp me to learn how to move in unsure situations where it is best to spend my time and when I can take a calculated risk. However I do regongize it's not something evryone can handle.
I'm not gonna say the system is perfect but if your parents push you somewhere that's another matter. You can change your choice whenever you want, it's not like you choose to go to an artistic liceo and then must remain there. No. You can easily go from a scientific to a linguistic highschool.
@Sara of course, you can always do that. However, for some, starting over in a new school as a teen can be scary as well. Depends on the personalities, I guess. But a lot of people struggle with our system as it is, and that's undeniable.
@@amplifiedemotions994 I really don't think that the problem of this system is choosing what to study as a teen, that's actually a nice thing. The problems are the too many oral and written tests and the grades.

So Italian education system is similar to South Korea? I mean they study all time and they get extremely pressured to be responsible for their own education. I want to hear more about education in Italy, I would be happy to hear from Italians here.

yes, then obviously it changes from school to school but that's the basis. for example, I attended the scientific high school of applied sciences, therefore without Latin but with computer science and more science, but it was a lot Tough. Usually 30 people start in the first, and 15 arrive at the fifth. The subjects are many and hard, the teachers always demand the best and this leads to many hours of afternoon study at home , Eliminating free time. Then of course it's not always like this but for the most part it is. Not to mention that after high school if you want to work you're practically forced to go to university that It's another minimum 5 years of study, even harder
Actually, in Asia it is much much worse….I live in Italy but I’m asian so I’ve experienced both, I can say for sure that in Europe in general it’s less stressful, kids in Japan/China/South Korea mainly spend the entire day studying and attending after school academies, private academies make so much money!

now hold on a second, one of the interviewed people is for real complaining about going back home at 1 pm and studying until 8 pm?? i get back at home at a quarter past 2 or 3 pm, and finish studying at around 11 pm, some of my classmates have it much worse as they live farther away and have other activities, one of them literally studies at night. (classical high school btw, i fucking hate it here i wanted to go to the scientifical one)
