Originally lived in Penarth and fished there in 1960s. Have no clue what it’s like now but in May June at low water on rising flood with spinners the bass fishing was excellent. Voblex spinners if you ever heard of them and if Robert Galley reads this, greetings!
awsome new vid, new mark within my reach.. ta very much.. my targets this year shall be my 1st bull huss.. smoothhound.. and flatties.. can't wait to get out there to new marks where i can find them within public transport of the rhondda 🥰
Tip for you, use lead lifts. Either buy some gemini lifts or make some from old milk bottles. They'll bring your rigs right to surface and that ledge won't even be a thought.
Top video again Matt 👌 1) 30 species (I’ll be fishing LRF as well) 2) Blonde ray, Small eyed ray, Spotted Ray. I’ve never had caught any of them before. 3) Fish at least 5 new venues (1 in Wales). Keep it going pal 👌
We all have bad days but the good ones well and truly make up for it. Good luck with your 2023 targets and will look forward to see what you have planned for the channel.
Good luck with your targets. One of mine is also that elusive shore tope, I had 39 species last year so to beat that would be great and get my second double figure bass. Tight lines from Ynys Mon
How's it going matt good video buddy I was out on the boat in the ranny 2 weeks ago perfect conditions only 3 codling caught out of 12 very quiet, my target this year is my first smooth hound of shore I lost 1 down Porthcawl off the wall last year I was gutted and also have my first bass trip on the boat in April, last year was awful if any big pops up I'll send it over to you. Keep up good work on videos love watching them picking up alot of little tips thanks, well done.
The 600 mark that is a bit further down toward the peir at the wave barriers is also good. I am not a pro like you but Would love to sling some lines with you if you are down this way.
Good video as always Matt, very informative. As you said, the Ranny can be a funny place, on fire the one day and dead the next. I was meant to film down there just after Christmas but then I got ill, I haven't fished it for a year or so. Seems to be hard going on the channel at the moment, hopefully a few fish will start to move. Ha yes, I know that feeling...all that effort filming for not even a bite, it happens to me a lot 😂. Nice one bud, tight lines! 👍👍
Cheers Gareth. I filmed a video on Witches Point Friday. Decent session, 3 species of fish and all my content come back with no audio 😭 I'm having a bad start to the year 😂
@@pinnacleangling Ah that's gutting, given the effort that goes into making the videos. If it makes you feel a little better, I filmed a long session down at Newton last year...all fine and did my outro right at the end and the memory card corrupted, all footage gone. And another time at Barry my tripod snapped mid filming, thankfully it was only a blank 😂
Nice video Matt , the ranny can be a difficult place :-) I'm with you on fishing goals ,get you out and about a lot more ,now i'm back fishing i'll be chasing 50 species off the shore , like you a shore caught tope ,and hopefully a shore caught common skate ..
Really tough at the moment bud. Had a session down Barry earlier in the week and the bait was coming in untouched. My targets are pretty modest for this year. 1) smoothound from the shore, only had them off a boat 2) trigger fish 3) was gonna say a grand slam of rays but I’d settle for a triple crown 4) 20 species would be awesome but 15 probably more realistic 5) a decent bull huss or a shore caught spurdog
Hi mate, I'm originally from Pontyclun, now in North West, just started sea angling after a 30+ year lay off. Targets are 15+ eel off the shore, shore tope and a double Thorney off the shore. Loving seeing my old stomping ground and good luck with your targets. 👍🤘🏴
I live on Somerset side of the channel I have set myself a target of a 5 lb cod a 5 lb bass and a 10 lb smothound and a 10 lb conger for 2023 I go quite regular so I will see

I’m determined to get a tope off the shore this year, that’s pretty much my only focus. And possibly a double figure bass.
Great targets mate 👍🏻 good luck.
