  • Hi everyone. Today we are looking at a folding saw - The Silky Gomboy Outback Edition. A couple of years ago I bought the Silky Pocketboy curve and even though it was small, it was a real workhorse. A few months ago I decided I needed a bigger saw and wanted to upgrade to the Gomboy. However, there was a newer professional version available (The Outback edition) and so I decided to buy one of these. Since then I have really pushed this saw to its limits...... and it has surprised me! In this video I go through a few facts and figures and conduct 4 cutting tests (including bone!). I hope you find the video interesting/informative.

I've got the silky big boy but if I'd seen this video first I reckon I would have gone for that!

I’ve always wanted the silky big boy as it looks great, but it was always that little bit too expensive. This was a great compromise for me. These days it’s the only saw I take out with me. Cheers Steve 😊🙏🏼 Have a great evening mate 😊👍🏼

Wow I was genuinely amazed by how fast you ripped threw the pallet wood 😮Jono
My cross saw would do it that fast 💨

You don’t need to press the locking lever to open the saw - only to unlock it from the open position.
Also, important to note it is a traditional Japanese saw in the way it cuts - on pull motions, only.
I own many Silky saws, and this exact model is my all-around favorite.

I knew about the cutting on pull only, but always assumed you needed to push the button to open/change position of the blade, so thanks for that 😊👍🏼 I love Silky saws. I only have 2, but they have been fantastic so far. Have a great day 😊👍🏼

How were the top teeth. I used mine and noticed the teeth were rounded afterward.

They are still super sharp after continuous use. Sorry to hear yours have rounded. When mine eventually go dull I will try sharpen it myself or send it off to Silky 😊👍🏼

Everyone uses this saw wrong haha. It's a PULL-saw, not push.

Correct. I think I mentioned that in the video. All the best 👍🏼
