Question: Should I vote for Kamala even if she allegedly did this one transphobic thing?

I'm not worried about that lady! Good video, though. What does worry me is the not-so-United States. From an outsider's point of view, it seems like two different countries that hate each other being forced to live in the same house. Sometimes it even starts to remind me of Israel vs Palestine. I just don't understand the divide, but people are willing to kill and die over it. So even if we're fortunate enough that she should win the election, I'm still scared of what comes next. Stay safe, all you kids in the US! 💜
100% it’s scary af! I live in the Deep South. I am a closet trans person who has only recently started accepting myself. But I’ve only told few people. Unfortunately that does not include my parents as they deeply hate the lgbtq+ community. It sucks that we live in such a hellish time.

Thank you for re-clarifying. Now I know I can vote for Mamala without worry for my healthcare. As a Transwomen in quite worried on the policy she stood. Since, I heard from Luxander that Biden just didn't care about us, or walked back on Transgender healthcare. Plus, Mamala is more Lefty on the policies Biden placed and with here their will be more positive changes for us and the world. I now have more hope that Texas will turn Blue just like California. Yes the GOP has a grip on the Supreme Court but if Kamala wins, she has the opportunity to replace 3 of the justices or she could also pack the court with more members.

Since when did prisoners get free elective medical care? Last I heard it was hard to even get like an advil in prison and there were literally people dying in cells of neglect.
Then she definitely has my vote!

First of all:
I personally know the people involved, the woman in question was a life without parole murder 2nd degree prisoner. She had been in the prison system for decades and had no private health insurance, the prison system has no options for private medical insurance. Kamala chose to not enforce proposition 8, which was law at the time, but enforce the anti-transgender law? That certainly seems a little inconsistent. The Transgender Legal Defense Fund had to sue the state to force a probationary hearing. It was only after the successful TLDF lawsuit did the state stop its opposition to granting parole. These are the facts, as they happened just over a decade ago. Her record isn’t spotless. But really whose is?
Secondly, we need to stop with this purity testing. Because, it’s a bad habit of the non-right wing to destroy our own and let the MAGA cult do their worst. We can’t pretend this never happened either.

She fought the case tooth and nail. She fought it all the way to the 9th circuit and then appealed it after Michelle Leal Norsworthy won the lawsuit. She specifically did NOT help a single trans identified incarcerated person in the state of California.
Yeah she shouldn’t have had the transphobic job if she didn’t want to do something transphobic? “It was just my job” isn’t really relevant here.

Thank you for posting this video. I don't know that much about Harris' background, but I have been wondering what her views and actions are/have been on trans rights. This really helped, thank you. I will do more research.

So, "yes she did, but....." I'm not impressed. Yeah, it was her job but she chose that job, and this was all in piece with the mass incarceration machine she was a cog in.
True enough, none of the candidates inspire confidence. But the certainty of the scenario of if trump wins, he promises to make both the system and anyone else's (especially any LGBTQIA) lives worse.
Look on the bright side too, she is the closest to an actual ally we have gotten in the presidential race. And however unlikely it is maybe wiser about what she had done now.
Still, who would you rather, her with a few flaws or Trump who has done thousands of things in his career against LGBTQ people.

Technically they're in prison the people shouldn't pay for it and they should be denied til they're out of prison. You lose rights when in prison.
You don't lose the right to healthcare. That's a basic human right.
And this is why the need to be placed in womens prisons and have mandated bottom surgery and castration while in there im a trans woman but i have had bottom surgery and changed my legal name id be placed in a womens prison
Also trans people are falsely imprisoned so thats just genocide just lock up and strip peoples identity thats torture.
