- Hello everyone and welcome to the forge, In this week's episode I make a Damascus skinner from scraps of other projects. The blade material is 1095/15n20, the spacer and bolster are copper and high carbon steel, the pin is brass rod, and the handle is made from an elk antler tine point.

i want my 1st diy knife to have those rings on the blade. still wondering how you did that but I'llmake sure to figure it out soon
Thanks! I appreciate you watching! Look into making pattern welded steel/Damascus that is how you achieve that. There is a lot of great makers here on RUclips that go in depth on how to make different patterns and such, Check out Tyrell Knifeworks channel, he has a lot of really good tutorial videos on it.
I was wondering if you might be generous enough to share the dimensions of your forging press?
I want to build one but am unsure about the pump a long with general size
dimensions
I was thinking high flow low pressure pump?
Cylinder size would determine max pressure available if I understand hydraulics properly
Would also like to build a power hammer and wondered what weight to go with in your opinion - not sure if you use one or not
The forging press I use is basically just a standard 27 ton log splitter with the tank and motor relocated. I actually still use the gas engine that came with the splitter to power it. The one in this video I used when I lived in Alaska, it was a 27 ton bought from home Depot I just made dies that bolted in Place of the splitter head. If I had a power hammer I would like a big Blu hammer like the one I used on Forged in fire, a little giant hammer would also be a good choice usually the heavy weight the better. I appreciate you watching.
Here is a link showing the press I used when I was in Alaska. ruclips.net/video/SQ7PMaDjf4c/видео.html
