    Paul, safari is the one fragrance I wore more than any throughout my life . Probably a bit more mature than what I should have been wearing at 21 but this saw me through a lot of key moments in my life. I wore this the day I got engaged, the day I got married and the day my first daughter was born … loved the stuff …. Absolutely a classic

    I think this is arguably Paul's best video idea, brilliantly executed.

    I still rock Estee Lauder's Pleasures for Him every so often in the warmer weather. Still a banger despite being 27 years old, in my humble opinion.

    Hi Paul, I just bought Paco Rabanne Pour Homme again, after your excellent review. I used to wear this in the 80's and it has brought back so many great memories! What has astonished me the most is that the olfactory journey is identical to the original bottle I owned. Right down to the delicious honey base note. It truly is an old school classic, and doesn't seem to have suffered from the reformulation nightmare of some other old fragrances. I'd like to thank you for your presentation, which encouraged me to purchase this gem from a happy past. 🙂

    Not for the faint hearted !… brilliant descriptions, especially Aramis .. 1965 ! - didn’t know it was that old. Just tried it again to remind me … hmmm yeah … ..No. No. you gotta have it tho . In fact Aramis is the only classic oldie I own. Been into frags 5 yrs - so these are top of the list to sample etc - you gotta know what came before - right . I’m a classic oldie myself , but I somehow managed to avoid these back in the day. I wore Quorum which I think is still a very wearable scent , even today. Armani pour homme is my holy grail - vintage only tho. If I had any cash I’d buy up every bottle I could find . I wore Joop too - not sure I’d like it now tho. The Le parfum sounds good . Nice one 👍, cheers 🥂

    What I love about 1881 is how well it layers as a base. Bergamots, lavenders, florals and patchoulis work especially well. Personally love wearing it with Banana Republic's Vintage Green. But alone it just feels unfinished. Much prefer Boucheron's Pour Homme edp that combines 1881 with a touch of Azzaro's Pour Homme and a lovely lipsticky verbena top. THAT fragrance is on the level of some of the best Chanels imo.

      I was wondering if this fragrance works in the summer heat.l? I'm on the lookout for a cheap long lasting summer fragrance🤔

    • @justaddlight
      @justaddlight 4 месяца назад

      @@daviddunbar2156 Tough to make anything last in the heat barring an overdose of woody ambers which neither the Boucheron or Cerruti have. Boucheron Pour Homme EDT might be the way to go in this case. It's better quality than 1881 imo, with more citruses but essentially the same scent profile. Just go heavy on the trigger or carry around a small decant. Cheers.

    • @daviddunbar2156
      @daviddunbar2156 4 месяца назад

      @@justaddlight thanks for the reply. Can you recommend any cheap summer fragrances? I am currently looking at:
      Boucheron Jaipur edt
      Armaf legasi
      Eau de rochas homme

    • @justaddlight
      @justaddlight 4 месяца назад

      @@daviddunbar2156 Eau de Rochas is a no brainer imo, just don't think of it as a citrus fragrance. The citruses disappear within 10 minutes and what's left is a generic mossy floral. Legesi is the best of the bunch for the summer and the sweet barbershop lavender in it lasts for a surprisingly long time. But it's not citrusy or particularly uplifting. Jaipur edt also fantastic, but it's a bit sweet for me on summer days. All 3 are solid pickups though and could potentially be worn all year. For something in the same vein if you live in North America, I might recommend the sparkling mint-lavender of Carven L'eau Intense. There are testers still available at Jomashop for $25 usd, and it comes with a very high resale value once they disappear. For the same price a 100 mL of Azzaro's Pour Homme L'eau would be my second pick. Hope that helps.

    My favorites where Aramis Devin,Alain Delon,Pino Silvester,Jill Sander Man,Kouros YSL,Anteus Chanel and Polo green by Ralph Lauren.
    Some available this time but terrible remastered
    My all time banger was Pino Silvester cologne ( with the brown top) nowhere to be found anymore,The remastered version is realy bad😢
    Love your comments👍

      Great list you got there. Of the Aramis Gentlemen's Collection, I've got the original, the 900, Havana, New West. I've had my eye on Devin for years, but was afraid it might be too 'cinnamon'. What do you think?
      The only vintage fragrances that I was ever inspired to buy were Kouros and Polo green. And I've smelled Antaeus, too. All great frags.
      By the way, if you like Pino Silvestre, try Acqua di Selva by Visconti di Modrone, which is in the same ballpark. It's also a classic, but much better than Pino Silvestre, IMO.
