@@brucesharpe1079 this hasn’t anything to do with heritage or the country I live in. I’m dutch and although not many, there are several bagpipes and drum bands here. I was raised in a very musically talented family and I play different brass instruments. But the squeaky sound of the bagpipes never appealed to me. The melodies too simple and an abundance in different possible styles of music to make. I understand that there are enough people living around the world with a different taste, but it doesn’t do the job for me.

Yogoslavia, the slavic nations unified because common enemy and common blood (this being slavic identity), but fell apart due to defferences in that common blood. Same will happen in the UK most likely and sadly, but the UK only unified by conquest and an heirless queen (Elizabeth I, which led to King James VI of Scotland inheriting the English throne) and so any sense of common identity is post unification and not prior (am english).
If Scotland does go independent i doubt very much they will be able to afford to keep the military. I think we will see all those Scottish regiments disappear !
I really want Scotland to stay a shining jeweled part of Britain. It's not like us where if the South had broken off our country could have been great it's more like if Scotland were to make that mistake it would really hurt not just them, but make Britain so much less special. I love Scots, but I'm part one myself! Most of my nationality can be traced back to Wales/Scotland/England and there's not a drop of New World blood in there I hope! Certainly it doesn't show if there is! Been to Scotland twice and met lots of Scotsmen in my life loved them all still so many beautiful memories. When The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards and Black Watch (bless 'em love 'em!) came to my hometown of Princeton NJ all I had to do was have my arm around them to feel magically transported back to where I really belong! I need to get away from America- the money monopoly, the greed, the corruption, all of it. I can no longer relate to anyone in this country! I'll take every country in the United Kingdom and Europe and maybe then my musical career will blossom at the late age of 40 which it will probably be by that time! This is why I prefer British marching bands cause the brass is in front and not behind wood winds and the marching is much nicer with the drummer major being smooth with his baton

In America, military bands usually march at a "6-to-5" 30" stride. Some of the universitybands that left military tradition (Ohio State, Michigan, Tennessee...) use an "8-to-5 yard line stride of 22". Most of the very finest American school bands (grades 9-12, ages 14-18) are in the eastern half of Texas, with a few scattered throughout mid-south in Arkansas and Kansas... by far the best are in East Texas... if you have 5-10 spare minutes, check out RUclips videos of "Longview HS Band" 1977-1985 or Woodville HS Marching Band Tx 1976-1985

I've NEVER seen a parade like that in the US. The UK really know's how to put on a parade. Well done and keep it up.
