Second watch and as entertaining as ever . I missed the live as I was out enjoying The Wakefield Rhubarb festival which had lots of Desserts and cakes amongst all its culinary delights and I Gourmand scents done well , I’m very keen to try Far .
The way you described it, like a reptile attacking was spot on lol what a great description. Also, Holes is a fantastic book. Read that a few times at school. Thoroughly enjoyed this long episode. Thanks and take care.
Mr. P, sorry to miss the live stream. Was 0600 my time this time around. I am so pleased I got a hold of two Millesime Planifolia bottles. Keeping one for back up as this one is quite nice. Also, was able to secure the new Chanel Cristalle Eau de Parfum that is out in Paris. Lovely as well though I am biased since I love Cristalle. I had the pleasure of lunching with and hearing a presentation from Mr. Thierry Wasser in December. What a gift of an experience. We of course did a champagne toast to the amazing Mr. P! He spoke highly of you. Maybe I will run into you in Harrod’s one day and tell you the whole experience :). Hoping to stop in London next month on my way to or back from a conference in Riyadh. For now , all the best!
@@Persolaise You're welcome! On my way to Riyadh. Any fragrances on your recommendation list I should be on the watch for? London after this and to Harrod's' Selfridges and others. Have gone through withdrawals not being there for 3 years !
@@Persolaise enjoyed the time at Harrod’s a few weeks ago. Either I missed Wilgermain or it hadn’t arrived by the time I was there. Hope to be back in June.
Happy to catch a video of you again. :-) I love Shalimar Millesime Vanilla Planifolia. There was a moment I even thought it was better than Spiritueuse Double Vanille which I wore as a signature scent many years ago. But SDV became also less facetted compared to its beginning over 15 years ago. Maybe that's why some people like it less. Shalimar MVP is a very smooth version of Shalimar which I highly enjoy. The vanilla is gorgeous, very soothing and rich. I also get the citrus start quite well which makes it very sparkling and bright at the top. As well as the leather accord a bit later. But of course the vanilla is what stands out. Honestly I would miss it f it hadn't been done. I love wearing it before going to sleep because it's a quiet, very comforting and relaxing scent. As for the other flankers of Shalimar, I enjoyed Shalimar Eau Légère, Shalimar Cologne, the "Ode" series but Souffle was a big fail for me. It's nauseating. Shalimar Initial was a late love for me but I'm happy they brought it back. It's in the "légendaires" line now, not the exclusives. And Shalimar Philtre was also an interesting addition, but it came out before the Millesime. Did it came out later in the UK?
To be honest, I’m a bit lost with the release order of many of them. I just hope I get to try them all, one way or another. I’m pleased you like Millesime, though. Thanks for watching.
@@Persolaise that's understandable. I'm lost when it comes to Mon Guerlain and La Petite Robe Noire releases. Had to laugh at the Rose Rose Rose name. It's a sign they should just stop it!
Far I have now bookmarked, so thank you for another review of an unknown brand, to me. Your reaction to Confessions of a Rebel scents was brilliant and very funny and one brand I won't be looking out for.
Another great fragrance video from Persolaise. I always miss the live broadcast but I always watch your fabulous videos on delay. I feel that I need to make myself available for the live broadcast so that I can interact with you and the other fragrance lovers live.
@@Persolaise I have my 10ml of Far and on initial spritz ‘ it’s love . I’m very keen on lemon pie notes and yuzu and pastry scents are just a slightly more sophisticated take on this theme . I’m very fond of Zara ‘s pastry in Paris scent but am aware it’s very synthetic’ this And one is a more natural delightful spin .
Haha I can now see why you very diplomatically skimmed over his new purchase of mine after reading your review of the Seven Lovers collection. I’m still saying I love it but I know that my nose can’t always be trusted but I’m getting better . Fab review though x
Thank you for reviewing Shalimal MVP Mr P. Very much agree with you, I have it and wore it a couple of times. Though very enjoyable, I prefer the ‘drama’ of my original Edt 🙌🏻😉. The Simon Constantine fragrances sound very intrigueing!
As a younger person, I find Guerlain Shalimar Millesime more everyday wearable than OG Shalimar. I also wear Soufleé in warmer weather. an added benefit, I now feel no need to own SDV when I own Millesime. Personally, worth it for me!
Bonjour Monsieur Persolaise. I was intrigued by you, "popping over to France" for a short visit. Oh, how I've missed travel. What are your thoughts on the 'so called' Guerlainade
That And gourmand actually sounds like one I would like. Maybe the fizzy top will help me since otherwise they often just smell like I rolled around in toffey. Interesting about the natural aspect with gourmands, I am still a newbie to these things about perfume so I would never have thought of this
Your videos always uplift! I’m big into Celine’s Le Peau Nue. Patiently waiting for this caramel lemon cake perfume to hit the US and will likely have forgotten about it by then 😅
I used to endure the opening of Shalimar edp to get to the good part. I have come to enjoy being bludgeoned by bergamot. 😅 I wish I could have tried this flanker. At the current price point of Millesime I would purchase the beautiful extrait version of Shalimar instead. And I love the bottles!
People who have problems with off-notes in Shalimar might want to try the parfum de toilette version. It seems much smoother to me. I was taken in by the provocative name of Celine's Reptile. But it barely registers as a fragrance to me. But some of their others are good.
It's interisting, Mr Persolaise, that we have almost the same feeling about Shalimar Millesime. To me it seems to be more cosy and intimiate then the other versions/flanker of Shalimar. Lucky I purchased mine second hand a few month ago, but now the price has doubled. So a rerelease would be much appreciated! Kind regards from Germany 😊 Marie
Celine Black Tie is my favourite fragrance, long-lasting cloud of orris, vanilla and cedar with an understated elegance. However, the substantial price hikes over the past few years is a hard pill to swallow, and makes me re-evaluate my appreciation for the fragrance and the brand as a whole.
Just watched the rest of the video. Your review of the brand AND (which is news to me) really makes me wonder how the perfume smells like. I'm also half torn when it comes to Gourmands. As you say, to be good , they often need to use a high percentage of naturals or show proof of a very good blending technique. I noted that the Gourmands I like are either very natural smelling or sophisticated. But never nauseating or artificial. Iris Ganache is kind of a sophisticated Gourmand for example. As for the Celine brand, I was initially impressed when smelling them and like a couple of them like Black Tie and Peau Nue. But on my skin they end up a bit too linear. I like the opening much better than their drydown. They start interesting and end a bit disappointing. But still a good offer in the high end designer world of fragrance. If the price point was much lower, I would less hesitate to buy a bottle...I had to laugh at your comments concerning the "rebel" brand. When marketed rebellious a product/brand rarely is in the end.Especially when "co-created" with half a million people lol. Wishing you a pleasant fragrant evening.
Haha I have just noticed that Ånd Får is spelled with Å which is a distinct vowel and letter in Danish so the brand’s names mean something completely different to me now 😂 Ånd means spirit which okay that goes with a perfume quite well BUT Får means … sheep 😂😂🐑🐑
I really dislike the Shalimar marketing. I'm annoyed by the trillions of flankers that have this overly long names, tacky new details on the bottle but of course all limited editions, hard to get and replaced in a year by another one. I went to Guerlain on Champs Elysees and they don't have these flankers there and don't seem to take those serious either. Guerlain, please just release one amazing modern take on shalimar, making a statement (something really different idk) with the bottle and just name it Shalimar of the 2020s or sth. And then just let it be on the market. I also never understood how Shalimar Initial was a flanker and then they took it down. It has nothing to do with Shalimar, it's another but very beautiful scent. Should have been an own release, being still available today. Stop it with the flankers.
I’ve watched this 2x today. Papa P you are a god amongst boys when it comes to other RUclips channels, merci!!
Twice?? Wow, thank you so much.
I just tuned in and am already wearing Shalimar I use to wear this in the late 70s I wish it was still as strong as it was.
Wow, how wonderful.
I love reading your blog posts! Reading must put me in a passive mode because I go to your blog to ponder and I come to your RUclips to interact.
Ah, that’s good to know. Thank you.
Sire P you’ve made my day! And loving the new Rambo scent from Celine, stud muffin material ❤️

I’ll definitely consider it, thanks.
