Señor Mikhail, permitame prestentarle mis respetos y admiración por difundir la música tradicional de su país, soy mexicano y me siento admirado por la alegría que proyecta en sus interpretaciones, muchas felicidades
this by far the best cover for Korobushka and believe me when I say the best as I listened to them all, the old the new the remixed and the red army versions, etc, this version is full of life and happiness.
This is my favorite video to play korobushka/Korobeiniki on my balalaika with. I usually use the bass player (sorry mate) to play my own solo because of how quiet it is relative to my own playing. Love the energy in this clip.
And do it with TONS of gusto, too. I first came across this very same song when I was in the 7th grade (late 80's) when I got a LP record of Russian folk music from my local library, I just couldn't help feel SO ENTHRALLED when hearing it, has been one of my favorite Slavic folk tunes ever since. Thanks a bunch for posting ;-)
I hope it's not too dorky of me to be dancing to this, even if I'm not exactly the dark-eyed beauty this song's about...>_< I like this version of it, and it's nice to finally have a face to the wonderful sounds and voices as well. :D

First thing: Russian folk music is the greatest music ever. Russian classical music is the best, and they base their music on Russian folk, so there. Finally, there is a man playing a giant balalaika. And the woman has long sleeves with a cut in the middle. This is evidence of humans appropriating the items that giants used.
Kieran Parikh saying один is like saying Hello instead of Hi. They both mean the same thing but what he said is more casual and what I would say if I were to count in Russian.
I'm not russian but I know the jist of the song so bear with me. It's about like a girl who is a trader and it talks about her trading and then seeing a handsome guy and they start talking about getting married.. Something along those lines. You can look it up.
furkan3191 the song is about a peddler that sells cloths like Calico and Brocade and all sorts of stuff who flirts with a girl named Katya. He offered her all of his merchandises in exchange for a kiss and a sexual favor. Katya rejects them all but one turqoise ring. Later, she asked him to marry her. The song's narrative ends here, yet in a poem of similar name, the peddler was murdered by a forest ranger when he is walking home after a successful day at the market.
furkan3191 there's a merchant and the hot town girl shows up at his shop. They talk and she gets all the stuff he sells in exchange for a little sexy time. But she just wants the ring and they get married. The end
It is actually titled Korobeiniki (Коробейники). a Russian song from the 1850s. The song tells a story about a peddler who fell in love with a girl named Katya. He loved her so much, that he gives Katya his whole goods for her. She refused all but one turquoise ring. After that, he took her to the rye fields to make love there. After that, Katya asks the peddler to marry her. At the end, the peddler got murdered by a forest ranger. The song gained international notoriety after Alexey Pajitnov used the song as the Tetris theme in 1984.
Are you referring to me? OY VEY old chap are you aware that Borat is a fictional character so he is obviously not Russian .The character is a very inaccurately portrayed native of the former soviet state of Kazakhstan. The actor Sacha Baron Cohen when he introduced the character Borat used this song in his TV series Ali-G long before the Borat movie came out. So in fact this IS indeed Borats theme..................but then what the fuck do I know being an ignorant Westerner .......................marty

The red army one is only good at certain parts, but this one is good all around
Red army versiyon is better but this iş enough good for a live performance
What a huge balalaika! 😮😮😮
That guy is playing a jet
secret soviet weapon of mass destruction disguised as a big balalaika disguised as a jet being shown to the public for the first time (1972 colorized)

I first heard this song in 1957; directly from the than 25 year old Geula Gill; in Israel.
Now that's a big ass guitar...

all hail the dorito...er...contrabass Balalaika!
From Harlem nyc and a former drug trafficker. I’ll probably never go to Russia, but I’ll be god damn if I don’t love this song
Man George Lucas is tearing that giant dorito up.
não sei oque diz mas gosto dessa musica, sempre quis saber o significado da letra e também poder canta-la
+Jovem WhiteWolf Esta canção é cantada como uma menina comerciante seduzido
The soprano balalaika in the middle should be dorito whereas the contrabass ones should be called doro.
I think I started to grow a unibrow!
If you put the mouse over the fox on the RUclips logo it looks like it's dancing to this.
It's actually a Balalaika Bass. It functions like an Upright Bass or Guitar Bass, but for the Balalaika
That’s contrabass balalaika, no?
Russian musical people, IMO, resemble something that’s akin to an acid trip. Just whatever you were expecting, it’s not that. Expect the unexpected
i love it so much ... do you Facebook account
Damnit pugenov. Why did you get this in my head?
(Is that how you spell his last name?)
What does he say before the song starts? Is he counting? I've heard what it in other Russian music.
yergaderga Yes he's counting
i speak russian and he said "and 1 2 3 4"
Wouldn't that be "и один, два, три, четыре"?
