Same! I have an extremely difficult time finding shoes that fit comfortably. That said, I'm all for the ballet flat & sneaker trend, because I have an easier time with those & happen to already have them. On the hunt for a comfy summer sandal. Hopefully the sporty sandal trend will make shopping for this easier :)

Yes. Shoe challenge. I live in a big city, we WALK: stairs, subway, cement, etc. No cars. Decide what shoes go on in the AM, walk all day and come home late. Forget 99% of most shoes. And I dislike carrying extra shoes. That is dumb.

I’ve been working on minimizing my vast shoe wardrobe, and investing in quality footwear that’s more comfortable and classic, that I will get a lot of wear out of. I’d wanted the Valentino espadrilles for quite some time, and couldn’t decide whether to invest in black or the poudre shade….I knew I’d wear both a lot, but I could only get one pair at that price tag! I lucked out right before my birthday last year when I discovered both colors on a consignment site, in my size, each for slightly less than half the retail price, in excellent condition! I didn’t even think twice-I snatched them both up. They’re wonderful shoes that I’ve worn a lot already. They’re very comfortable and don’t feel like they’re as high as they are. And although they’re considered on the trendy side right now, I think their style is so classic and will look great for years to come. I highly recommend them!

Erin, I always love your videos, and I appreciate the occasional crazy height-of-fashion flights. These exaggerated heels and platforms, however, should definitely be tagged for 20-somethings to wear for an hour or two at a cocktail party. I tripped all over San Francisco in sky-high heels in the 90s, and now have hip problems. Orthopedist told me flatly, "These kinds of shoes damage the body." So - how about height-of-fashion OTHER than shoes?!

Thanks so much for watching. xo

Great video Erin! I always buy espadrilles for when I need to add height to my outfits. I bought a beautiful leather/suede upper pair a while back by Dolce Vita. I love Dolce bc they are one of the few affordable real leather and suede shoe makers left. I can’t stand cheaply made shoes but for a random trend I will buy some. I pay a lot for shoes over anything else in my wardrobe…although I’m evolving since watching you to purchase some key pieces like a basic Balmain blazer. I like new clothes often but my shoes pretty much stay to the higher end basics. An espadrille, a black leather pump, a funky cheetah print slightly wedge “flat,” a long pair of leather black and brown suede or leather boots, and a leather and suede black or brown bootie. Every now and then I’ll buy a red boot or cowgirl boots. I have some basic vans, and some adidas black and white tennis shoes. That’s about it for me. I get my nice heels repaired resoled and cleaned if possible before buying a new pair. It’s worth the initial investment.

Erin, one big and one HUGE thank you follows and perhaps some helpful info for some of your followers that lean towards plus sizes. Delighted to learn about shoe trends. I have a pair of Stuart Weitzman silver, platform espadrilles that i purchased on clearance at the end of last summer; hooray three trends in one! Also, have a pair of Linea Paolo's purchased about 15 years ago that are white leather platforms with a "u" carved out of the platform; sounds like back in style for summer and so glad i hung onto them. Second, about a month ago you did a video in collab with Banana Republic. Was shocked to discover they carried up to xxl in both men's and women's sizes (along with petites and talls). Happened to pop into one of their stores today and purchased a classy black linen dress in an xl. My size is probably best described as a 16W. Didn't think they'd carry larger sizes in store, and if they did, wasn't convinced they would fit. The sales staff were super helpful. And, i was able to shop with my hubby on this occasion. It was the most inclusive shopping experience ive had perhaps ever. People of a wide variety of shapes, ages, colors, and gender all in store. This is one of very few places where i can shop for clothes with my friends. I would never have re-discovered this brand and its store without your channel. A heartfelt thanks from me to you. All the best. 💜

awww what did Mary Jane ever do to anyone? Who knew it was polarizing, not me :) I wore a vintage set of my mom's for decades. shopdoen usually carries a beautiful, low-heeled wearable version in black patent in the fall. Tevas tho'. . .I live in a mountain town so I know I'm supposed to like them but, no. Especially not at a designer price point.

Love this video. Mostly because it’s SUCH great news for my 5’3” frame. I am with you on the trends I’m interested in- no flats for me, and I’m emerging from too much goth, so I’ll leave the cages for my edgier sisters. Thank you for the espadrille brands to explore. I personally will never wear anything that looks like a Birkenstock. I.just.can’t. But yay to foot health 🤷🏻‍♀️
I hate sneakers, but occasionally they are needed for more than working out, so I appreciate the tips about the ones that are on trend.

I love the Espadrilles, Wedges/Platform and sneakers but none too high of a heal these days as I’ve gotten older, I can’t wear too high of a heal for the fact that I’m scared of falling over in them, ballet flats are the worst type of shoe for your posture and for anyone with back issues, that came from my spinal specialist after I had a really bad fall and damaged my spine, even if it has just a little heal is better than ballet flats. Great video as always Erin. ❤❤🇦🇺

I've pretty much had all of those shoes at 1 time or another in my 73 years except for the new sculpture choose but with old feet I Don't think that's ever gonna happen. I'm definitely looking for a beautiful pair of sling backs. My feet seem to have gotten a little bit longer over the years and the pair that I have don't fit terribly comfortable so I'm glad to.they back out . I especially like the sling back for what it does to the appearance of the foot . For those of us with longer feet it can give the illusion that our feet aren't so long. For a super nice looking shoe I think an espadrilla is probably the most comfortable shoe to wear other than a sn eaker. Never had good luck in the designer sandle department finding comfort.

Ughh I’m on the fence about this video. Is it just me or is everything high-dollar designer items? What about brands that are sold at DSW? Thanks for watching, Yvonne. When we're looking at new trends each year or season, this starts with the high-end designers and runway styles.
