Decent bit of kit, looks well manufactured and like that it is modular. A fair saving on a new light if an unsuspecting sparrow decides to mate with your headlight.

Hello Bruce if you us the clear cover in additional to the one you have fitted which looks great by the way would this make it easy to keep the head light clean or is it one or the other ?

Thank you for posting. A couple of "things". I am interested in your opinion of having the metal protector in front of your headlight. I shied away from it, thinking it would cast shadows on the road at night. I have the clear carbonate protector from a different brand. Also, although you are a motorcycle channel, I would not mind a quick tour (hint, hint) of your VW Van which keeps showing up in the background of your videos. :)
Quick question Bruce - will that pass MOT? My BMW garage advised against a grill because it create a matrix light and there’s a slim chance something will get through. They also said it was 50/50 on MOT. Wondered what your thoughts were 👍🏻
Strictly speaking no the grill won’t, that’s why they don’t advise using it at night and the LoneRider one comes with the option to use both the clear Perspex and grill options at the same time - you just flip the grill down for night use (I only installed the grill as I’m happy tide at night with it if needed). It’ll depend entirely on where you get it mot’d as to whether they just mention it or refuse to pass it with the grill in place. I’d simply pop the grill off for the mot, then pop it back on afterwards - same as many people do with aftermarket exhausts and small number plates 🤷♂️👍
Just seen your video thanks and also like the content of your others for r1200gs and r1250gs. Are there any legal issues with showing an orange light at the front. I have tried to check MOT guidance but it refers to either white or yellow lighting being acceptable? Think the unit looks great and interested in getting for my R1250gs HP
Headlight guard is a good idea but it was the cheaper Wunderlich guard for me, the loan rider can be easily nicked and yellow/orange light went out with the 70's!!

That's one expensive headlight, so well worth protecting! I think most LED headlights, irrespective of car or bike are in this ball park, cost wise. If the front face is plastic, it'll probably survive a hit. Glass...not so much.
Aye my first Gs took a stone straight to the front on a track day once - thankfully my wee GoPro Session was mounted directly in its path! It smashed the Session to bits but was cheaper than replacing the headlight - I bought a grill protector after that 😬
Missed a bit of blurage on the T2's plate at 2:51. If you can stomach rerendering, reuploading and reprocessing. (Obviously only if you're worried about the morons on the Internet). Love these vids!
Aye cheers Sam - WHY is it I never see this during the 50,000 playbacks I do during editing???? 🤦♂️ Oh well, if they turn up at my house and try to nick it, I’ll set my murder cats on them. And the attack mice.
Ha Ha, aye sorry about that! Sometimes these affiliate links and codes are more grief than they’re worth bud - they attract a lot of negativity and scepticism from certainly elements online, and it kind of sucks the life out you at times 🤷♂️👍
teapotone Saw that yesterday with Chops, all those negative comments completely undeserved when all he was doing was an honest review. He took the discount code down eventually after all the commentary. Very unfair and nasty. 😡😡🤬🤬
£163.97 for a small amount of metal and a few small bits of plastic? I agree entirely the £1000 headlight replacement costs are expensive and some protection would be beneficial, but, £163.97 for ultimately a few small materials seems completely extortionate!!
It’s a lid of money certainly, but the nearest main player is Touratech and theirs is £100 for EITHER the clear Perspex or the grill options, so you’d be £200 if you got both. I think there are much cheaper options available online, but I’ve never tried them and I’d also be questionable of their quality at low cost - could be wrong though obviously. Personally I’m happy to spend my money on quality, and if a company goes to the effort of mass producing something, researching a quality fitting process, investing in the marketing and PR to get it out there to the masses, then I don’t expect bargain basement prices 🤷♂️👍
Just a heads-up, if you damage or lose the yellow x part, LoneRider won’t sell it separately. This happened to me so I’ve now removed the whole thing. What a scam!...😡
Yep totally agree, but it’s something you defo need to think about as a cracked headlight will cost you a LOT more. Touratech doneitger a clear or grill protector for £99.50 each, but not a combined system like this one offers 🤷♂️ I had the Touratech grill one on my last two but prefer the look of the Line Rider one with the amber insert
@@teapotone fair enough, just had a word with a friend who makes plasma cut steel ornaments and showed him this. Aye totally, but there’s no way I could own a new bike every few years personally if I didn’t do PCP so it facilitates what I want to do and what I want to ride - each to their own bud. Yep, totally agree with you there on the headlight cost, but all the big hitting ‘adventure’ bikes are stupidly priced these days. There’s certainly cheaper options available though for sure
dont take this as a negative but yourself now , chops and vida seem to be running a lot of commercial products atm i hope the kickbacks are good...get back to the great content soon

I don’t even have an affiliate link for it so the only revenue is Adsense - a pittance. SuperShield Automotive vid: I make 0 from that, in fact YOU get a 10% discount because of my vid, but I make NOTHING. I did a vid on it as Pete is my friend and I believe it’s a fantastic product. Skutrnet Servo Buddy: I PAID for this myself and have no connection with the company, I make NOTHING from this vid. Pactalk Bold: it’s the best Comms unit on the market and whilst I make a commission on any sale via my affiliate link, YOU save up to 20% off rrp. Calimoto: you get a months free trial, I make NOTHING from each sale. Hmmm, yeah I’m a sell out, I understand your point there Dave 🤔 🤷♂️ Not entirely sure how people who make derogatory comments on any activity that either promotes a product and/or invites a sale via an affiliate link, expect us to make a living here? Keep your great vlogs coming. They are always worth a watch - cheers mate!!
It smashed the Session to bits but was cheaper than replacing the headlight - I bought a grill protector after that 😬
New bike does look the dogs Bruce, think im going to have to scratch the GS itch at some point.
Make sure you keep the original bolts safe. Remember helga's last video 🤣
The last thing the bug thought before smashing itself into the new grill was, 'what a nice logo, I wonder how much that cost'?
Missed a bit of blurage on the T2's plate at 2:51. If you can stomach rerendering, reuploading and reprocessing. (Obviously only if you're worried about the morons on the Internet). Love these vids!
Aye cheers Sam - WHY is it I never see this during the 50,000 playbacks I do during editing???? 🤦♂️
Oh well, if they turn up at my house and try to nick it, I’ll set my murder cats on them.
And the attack mice.
@@teapotone haha! Too busy ogling your new beast!
teapotone and straightening that VW badge on the spare wheel cover would help my OCD 🙃🤣
When is the discount code coming? 😜
No idea if I’ll get one of not bud, will depend on how much interest this sends their way 🤷♂️
We need that discount Bruce! Chops had one yesterday for the Litelok! 😁 Ye are costing me a fortune! 😂
Ha Ha, aye sorry about that!
Sometimes these affiliate links and codes are more grief than they’re worth bud - they attract a lot of negativity and scepticism from certainly elements online, and it kind of sucks the life out you at times 🤷♂️👍
I was looking at this before you posted your vid but your vid has definitely persuaded me to get one! Discount code would sweeten the deal! 😜
teapotone Saw that yesterday with Chops, all those negative comments completely undeserved when all he was doing was an honest review. He took the discount code down eventually after all the commentary. Very unfair and nasty. 😡😡🤬🤬
Tape your tip, got it.
😉
You do know it's £1400 for the one on the kawasaki z1000sx. Make it sound like it's bmw being expensive again.
Bruce, try putting a little bit of grease on your nipples ew er. It helps get the guard on and off easier. Still mounts very secure.
can somebody just pull that mesh off if they need a new one
Yep they can.
But if I see them doing it.... 🤷♂️
You never know, the powers that be, mite just start repairing our roads, handy item it have then, cus they laid trigger n his broom off😭😭😂
SI PUO SOSTITUIRE DA X A C
£163 for a bit of bent metal and polycarbonate. Someone's laughing all the way to the bank.
Yep totally agree, but it’s something you defo need to think about as a cracked headlight will cost you a LOT more.
Touratech doneitger a clear or grill protector for £99.50 each, but not a combined system like this one offers 🤷♂️
I had the Touratech grill one on my last two but prefer the look of the Line Rider one with the amber insert
YUP. GS riders - they know they are mugs when it comes to buying trinkets for their bikes. £1000 to replave the lamp - £163 is an investment :D
same as in the motorcycle shops....you only get one nogging mate, worth spending the extra to prtect it....£600 helmet :D
Think bikers in general like their toys for their bikes 👍
@@teapotone fair enough, just had a word with a friend who makes plasma cut steel ornaments and showed him this. He says apart from the polycarbonate, which he has no experience with, and the hardware, he could knock these out for under a tenner in cost, including material cost, cutting, bending and painting!
You didn't blank yr plate out on the camper at the beginning Brucy!
It looks great. But does the same job as a $30 one ...
What $30 one?
£1000 headlight on an adventure bike is ridiculous but then again we are talking to the PCP brigade ....
@@teapotone fair enough bud
How much !!!!! 😂
£179.00
Googled it
One thoosand poonds for a headlight cluster is why i wouldn't buy a bmw young Bruce. 😬
dont take this as a negative but yourself now , chops and vida seem to be running a lot of commercial products atm i hope the kickbacks are good...get back to the great content soon
Of course it’s taken as a negative, how else do you expect us to take that?
But let’s look at it:
The Headlight Guard: I make 0 from that, I was given their kit to try and if I like it I make a vid on it, which I’ve done.
Hmmm, yeah I’m a sell out, I understand your point there Dave 🤔 🤷♂️
Not entirely sure how people who make derogatory comments on any activity that either promotes a product and/or invites a sale via an affiliate link, expect us to make a living here? This content costs you NOTHING to watch after all.
Such a shame social media invites this kind of ridiculous negativity from some people, yet unbelievable levels of support and positivity from others.
Focus on the good bud 👍
@@teapotone sorry bud i think we have our wires crossed. ive no problem with any of the stuff you may get free to test/try jez who doesn't want free stuff no my point was i wanna see you out on the new bike ....same with the others no-one seems to be riding as much anymore get the wheels moving soon bud
Dave I do apologise, I took it the wrong way bud, I re-read it this morning and I shouldn’t have vented at you so again, I apologise for that 🙏
@@teapotone no worries bud easily done with text i could have worded it better myself stay safe
STOP, you’re costing me a fortune
Ha Ha, tell me about it! Thankfully Nippy Norman’s have come onboard so I should hopefully be able to stop spending my mortgage money on ‘toys’! 😂🤦♂️👍
Sorry Bruce, Not for me everyones different.!
Aye absolutely Mick, each to their own 👍
Fit one of these instead....
www.stanzbitz.com/product-page/r1200-1250-gs-headlamp-protector
I’m sorry but I have to be honest, that looks absolutely hideous !! Really spoiled the look of the bike, you should have gone to Specsavers 🤮
You think so? I love it personally, but each to their own 🤷♂️👍
I get you wanna protect the light but I just think the coloured part spoils it, you’ve got a beautiful brand new 1250 in the best colours and that particular light guard just doesn’t go with the colour scheme, in my opinion anyway 🙈
.............or don't buy a BMW. 🤷
