DCS WORLD - Make Your Own Instant Action Missions - Quick Tutorial

- Hey Guys, @tanberjan asked for some help in setting up aircraft over London and Paris to quickly get airborne over the city sights. Instead of butchering the instructions with a text response, I thought with all the newcomers in DCS (joining every day) I'd foul up this tutorial with a video
"as always" to help others watching. The best way to learn the Mission Editor is to jump in and make mistakes that you'll learn far more from than watching a video like this. Enjoy, JUICE
Be sure to check out @lankypilot778 and @ReflectedSimulations for more great DCS WWII and Normandy 2.0 conent.

@@AIRWARFAREGROUP Just set up a flight over Paris in my Spitfire on my break at work, thanks for the help on this!
Thank you so much for this. I’ve played for years now and didn’t realize I could edit the instant action missions.
👍
I notice a lot of your flights still have fog enabled…
For any quick start “default missions” for modules released before 2.7 (the clouds/weather), you need to change the weather too.
Left side, cloud icon. When that opens, on the right side near the bottom, there is a “enable fog” checkbox. UNCHECK that! That was from the legacy weather system to add more atmospheric effects, but post 2.7, it creates a heavy and unrealistic ground fog. ED said to turn that off after 2.7.
Then you can pick one of the weather presets (big icon cloud pictures), and click ok, or select “Dynamic”, and then click generate.
After 2.7, the first thing I did was edit all of the P-51,, Spit, bf109 and D-9, FW190 quick start missions… any takeoff, dogfight, free flight etc. I took each one and tried different presets, Time of Day, etc. makes them look 10x better.
Also I’ve created a new mission for Channel and Normandy, with each warbird set to “hot start in parking” at one airfield, each set to client. Then no matter which plane I want to fly or practice takeoffs/landings, I run the same mission, and just select the plane I want to fly at the client pop up.
If you want to practice formation flying, just make 2 planes (airborne), 1st set to veteran, 2nd client. Create a flight plan just clicking to add waypoints. Your AI guy flies that route, and you can practice flying on his wing. 👍
Yep! Use the same mission a lot
This ^^
Super helpful as I am new to DCS, thank you!
Welcome! DCS is the best Cult I have ever joined 😜 ruclips.net/video/XYMuwkjSEM4/видео.htmlsi=3lmcIiX59sI3EVH4
Great idea, awesome map
Thanks, the video is for newcomers unfamiliar with the basic ME and I encourage everyone to explore DCS ME further if they like. "Is But A Scratch"
Thanks for this, the mission editor has always intimated me some. After watching this, I'm going to jump in.
Hey, it's a learning process, I'm still fumbling my way through and loving it all the way. It's the Journey, not a destination ;^) JUICE
Awesome. Never tried mission editing, will give it a shot now
Thank you for this! Very helpful!😊
Hey, thanks for the feedback and you’re always welcome to leave questions if you need help with anything else as I sometimes learn through your questions myself 😀
I just realised… 1 DW was Robin Olds number on his Mustang. BZ Juice, good drills 😊
🤣DW are my initials.
@@AIRWARFAREGROUP ah. Welcome to overthinking 101🤣
Once again, great information Juice. I knew how to make missions, but never thought about modifying existing ones. Ah, this makes life much easier. I do need to play with mission creation more, because I have come up with some good scenarios, but then I stopped doing it.
Good stuff C. I took the No-Ball Mustang Miz and added 4 Jugs so up to 8 pilots can do a B-17 escort mission.
Good job explaining the mystery related to the mission editor
Thanks, I hope it was of value but always shoot me a question if I can help with the ME. ~JUICE
Thanks Juice.
Hopefully to help. Shoot me any questions or tips for me. I’m learning too!
Great tips. Never done that before and i can see the versatility in setting things up just to pop into as well as the flexibility it offers. Thanks for that 👍😁🏴
Here's an example of me learning with the Carrier Ops missions.

And check out the rest of our comments for more tips...this video just shows you how to get started if you are new, and as a mission maker noob, I've have only just begun to scratch the surface. I have a team of scripters and creators that help me each day learn from my mistakes. ~ Juice
@@AIRWARFAREGROUP Thank you Juice - im a total noob at mission making so this and the additional video link will be very helpful. Many thanks 🙂
Send any questions my way I’ll try to get to them when I can if you have any. Let us know how it goes.
@@AIRWARFAREGROUP Thanks Juice - really appreciate that 🙂. Ive set this weekend (after my weeks work) to sit when I have a decent amount of time and go through your videos step by step and try out your mission editor stuff :-). Will definitely let you know how I go :-)
There are lots of other people with good videos on RUclips that can help too.
As a tip if you add a waypoint to the flight path for an air start plane you can influence which way it faces on spawn. For example I have a mission where the planes spawn over the channel at the mouth of the Thames and the there's a way point at the coast so I'm set up to follow the river inland and don't have to turn on spawn
Thanks Jac...great input.
New subscriber here and DCS newbie, love your videos. I want to learn to fly warbirds. Thanks for this quick tip, very helpful!
See you over at 4YA sometime. ;)
I know some "breton" who are going to blow the dcs servers if they say the put the "mont saint michel" as the Normandy map
I’m looking to visit next year.
What is the difference doing this compared to just starting from "create new mission"? Seemed like you built everything up from scratch anyhow 🙂
So, that instant action mission with the TF-51D Mustang, had the airfields coalitions setup like I wanted, the weather I wanted with the sea fog, and other aspects that I would have to setup in a new mission manually. The purpose of this demonstration is to show the viewer who is new to the Mission Editor a quick way to get flying over London or Paris as he requested. But if you read in the description, you'll see that we encourage guys inexperienced in editing to jump in, make mistakes and discover what works for them or not...the best way to learn. Cheers.
THE AIR WARFARE GROUP any idea what I'm doin wrong
Yes, so first you need to save the edited file in your USERS, Your Computer Name, Saved Games, DCS World, Missions folder...sounds like you are saving it in the game files which is incorrect. Also, you should rename it to something simple you can recognize. I separate my saved games missions by Terrain.
it says file already exist wont let me do it i got lucky once but cant do it again

Yeah, your French pronunciation is completely laughable. It must be pronounced 'Cricqueville-en-Bessin'. :P
I’ll need a tape recording ;^)
@@AIRWARFAREGROUP Look, I'll say it LOUDER for you, it's 'CRICQUEVILLE-EN-BESSIN'.
