Health care in Thailand is relatively inexpensive. One way to reduce the cost of your health insurance policy is to accept a high deductible. That way you pay for routine care and your insurance is available for more serious ailments.
@@waynesitarz424 Yes. I should always add that. If your are from a country with universal health care then entering an insurance market like Thailand is definitely not an advantage

Best report on expat insurance options I've seen anywhere. I wish I had seen it 3-4 years ago, but I am insured by Pacific Cross, so I guess I'm OK. Jett, I know this is an older video, but one concern I have is getting insurance as a diabetic. I know you mentioned diabetes in the last provider, but are they the best option or is there another recommendation? Great video Jett. My thai wife (48 years) and I go to Thailand every year for 5 or 6 months (Prior to Covid). I did have a retirement visa and then changed to a marraige visa. This was due to the amount of baht you had to keep in a Thai bank. We are waiting for the details on the new Thai Pass system. We do have a house in Thailand. My question is this. I am retired military (U.S.) and all my health coverage is through what is called Tricare for life. I asked if I was covered in Thailand if I get covid. (We both have had two doses of the Pfizer vaccine). They told me yes and that if I was to get covid, the hospital would need to send the bills to them in Birmingham, Alabama. So, do you know if I need to have Thai insurance if I am just a tourist visiting family? Appreciate any help you can provide. John

The O visa or marriage visa does not currently require the health insurance, however my attorney in Bangkok says he believes the Thai officials will start requiring it for the marriage visa's in the near future.
@@onehappykamper What do you mean? Non-O allows 65 k income method. If you have that at home, you do not need to deposit any money in Thailand. You need to get your tax declaration or your pension approved by your consulate. Nowadays it seems to be attached to the consul's confirmation.

Ask Thai Immigration, but i think its because they want to see that you have money to live here, 800,000 in the bank or 65,000 deposited each month for a year or a combination of both.
The financial requirement for a 1 year extension is to deposit 800,000 baht in a Thai bank 2 months before you apply for the extension and 3 months after you get the extension. You have to maintain a minimum of 400,000 baht in your account for the remaining months of the year. Of course, you have to bump it up to 800,000 baht 2 months before you apply for the next year’s extension. This money is not available for use for medical expenses. If your account drops below the above requirements you will be denied the next extension. The 800,000 baht is not a substitute for the health insurance requirement for those who originally arrived with an OA visa.
