I agree with the comps, 70% is a good rule of thumb for flippers trying to buy cards that sell frequently. It seems more appropriate to ask for 90% from dealers since you are saving them eBay seller fees and they save you shipping costs if you are only interested in a card or 2 at their table. Roth cards and CC2 get deals because they have built relationships and are spending huge $$$
70% of comps is great to have room to sell to other flippers but buying a card like that Ronaldo at 90% makes complete sense to me. A very desirable card like that from the first year Topps chrome set you’d easily sell that to someone that will hold that long term anyway…who would be more than happy to pay what the last comp was! How many opportunities to people get to buy a 2017 chrome CR7 parallel!
70% comps was for highly transacted cards and buying in bulk. It has shifted to where people think they can get every card at 70% no matter the rarity and that just won’t work.
Whats up Troy? I was the one who referred you to the Wembayama seller. Glad you were able to make a deal. Appreciate the shout out. Great videos as usual. Great points with regards to Comps on cards.
I've got a few Jeremy Sarmiento cards too. Brighton have a great record of buying and developing talent and he's gone out on loan to the Championship to West Bromwich Albion for the year. Will be interesting to see how he goes.
That’s why I’m buying cards that are very low numbered/rare vintage autos etc. maybe I’ll make a tshirt that says “f*%k comps”. So lame the whole hobby relies on inconsistent/shilled eBay prices to base the price of their inventory, very strange when you stop and think about it. No other industry does business like that. I can just see Ford execs gathered around an eBay screen “welp last mustang sold for $20k guess we gonna have to slash prices this week” 😂😂
In my neck of the woods. It’s all about comps. Y’all ruined the hobby with 70% comps lol 😂. Dealers and non dealers simply won’t deal with you if there are no recent comps. And when there is, they all of a sudden want to give you at best 70% of their preferred comp.
I agree you don't need to comp everything. Just buy solid cards and they'll sell

thanks for the helpful vids when you buy cards to grade do you take them out the sleeves and check them before making a deal?

Have you talked about your strategy regarding when to list something as buy now, when to list it as auction, what price to pick, etc
Hey big fan have fun at the National
Appreciate that, thank you!
@@TRIKESportsCards no problem
Can't believe I didn't even see you there
Great public service announcement Troy! 🤓
Yeah Leaf sells okay for players who dont have license stuff yet, or their licensed stuff is plain
Anyone asking why dealers ask to buy at 70% comps need to look up the term "margin of safety"
Where's or what is the best way to find local card shows? Love the videos man👍!
Looks like I need to make the drive from Raleigh to Mooresville for the next show.
Just got into collecting. Is there an app etc on Apple for checking comps or cards value etc?
that value box run down is fkn insane btw I've literally never seen anything like that. that was like freaking $200 in cards for what $20?
Good, honest assessment.
Maybe try the Toronto Card Expo in November.

That football “dollar” box though 😩 I wish I could find deals like that at the card shows near me! Another great vid man, keep them coming!
