I’m really concerned about the grading (let’s hope we find out later today what will happen). Maths is the one subject I knew I had to work hard on and I was determined to do this and finding your channel was a lifesaver. I have been getting Cs/Ds throughout a level but I know I can do better. I was predicted an A* but I’m so worried I won’t get the grade I know I’m capable of. Thank you for the hard work you have put into this channel

@@Simbetam In my sixth form we had only 2 students above a C most of us had Ds and Es and we were predicted Bs. How they said we will get our grades HOPEFULLY they understand that mocks are biased.

Literally 2 years worth of hard work for nothing... Predicted grades aren't the same thing as the achievement after putting that pen down at the end of the exam and walking out of that results day with an actual grade in that letter. Also, sucks for people who didn't really try as much in mocks (like me) as now the predicted grades will show that. Even though normally I'd work at 120% during this period to get As, just like I did at the end of Year 12. I've heard people saying that "mocks are meant to be like the real thing" so there's no excuse there for not revising for those and treating them like real exmas. Which is somewhat true, but what these people fail to remember is that all other classes before our Year, had the chance of using that mock exam result as a wake up call and really push hard at the end of Y13 for those final exmas. We won't get that opportunity, which is in my opinion unfair. Plus, everytime an employer will look at the A-Levels on your CV, it will be somewhat useless. Those predicted grades will show no value as everyone's teachers will obviously try to bump them up as much as possible or not being what someone could've actually achieved. So they won't be showing the true achievement of the student since you don't actually know what they would've got in the end... Such a shame... I hope this pandemic is over soon cause it's causing too much disruption and taking away too many lives...

As an international A level student, my country currently has taken no steps to prolong the exams, even though in the UK measures have been set. I'm worried as how preparations will take place here, since we are also in isolation, but apparently the exams are still ongoing.
I love this message. It's such an anti climax for all involved, but the exam is just an assessment of your understanding and really the least important part of the learning process. If you have the understanding you will take that forward and the teachers can be proud that they have imparted that knowledge and understanding. You will still get your grades one way or another. Stay safe.

Hi, Thanks for the great video. Your videos are so helpful especially now that schools are closed. Quick question, how would you prove that there are no stationary points on the curve with equation 4x³ -13x²+ 4x + 23/4 ?
In general you would differentiate to get dy/dx, and then show that dy/dx = 0 has no solutions. With your example, however, it DOES have stationary points: www.desmos.com/calculator/roae0e6kun

I know there are past papers online but when we do them so often they get redundant. 2 yrs ago you taught me practically my entire A level maths. Could you please create an exam paper and release it to see how far students get now?

Keep learning the course content in the order you would have been taught it. You may not be back into your school / college until September, so you have to keep on top of this or you will miss a large chunk of material.
If the exams are cancelled and base our grades of predicted grades would that be though our key assessment throughout the year or our initial review for overall predicted grades. Am worried as am taking maths gcse and it’s my final year I have been predicted 4 for one of my key assessment and initial review and my latest key assessment was a 3 cos I performed poor in my mock so am concerned whether I would get a 4 or a 3 can you help with what grade I’ll most likely to get.

Do you have any idea how the 2021 exams will be affected. Like grade boundaries etc ..
I predict the grade boundaries may be slightly lower due to less teaching time all round since everyone's at the same disadvantage

If you have a textbook - work through that. Otherwise do as many exam questions as you can. physics and maths tutor is a very good source for this.
