    Finally! Someone who shows the chains and sprockets at different angles. Thank you for this video! How has the bike been holding up? Still work well? Any issues? What was the total cost of the kit?

      It's been absolutely flawless, well over a thousand miles on it now. I did replace the derailleur with a micro shift Advent 9 and it's been working great

      @@jetguy1205 Thank you for that information. I do have one other question. I just watched this video and it's making me rethink buying a mid-drive motor. Have you had these issues? This guy is saying due to the cadence and multiple gears.... that mid drive motors can cause problems: ruclips.net/video/pRfBNmjHUQc/видео.html
      Would like to hear an actual mechanic's thoughts on this.

      @@IdahoEagle77I didn't watch the whole thing but with a mid drive you definitely have to pay attention to gear changes. If the motor is putting out a 1000 watts and you changed gears while doing that, the derailleur and gears are not going to like it. I would definitely recommend a shift sensor, and also taking care not to shift while putting the motor and drivetrain under heavy load.
      I definitely think the advantages of a mid drive far outweigh the care that needs to be taken when shifting however. You don't shift a manual car without a clutch while doing full throttle, it's the same concept. (Some might call this a disadvantage but it's just a fact)
      The advantages of having full access to all your different gear ranges is absolutely a must have in my opinion. It's like having an eight-speed transmission in your car versus a single speed transmission. Hub motors are single speed and you only have one gear ratio for all conditions. If you want to run your mid drive and never touch shift that's okay, but at least you have the option of different ratios.

      @@IdahoEagle77if you're just planning on cruising around the neighborhood at slow speed on flat grounds a hub motor can be totally adequate. But if you want more control and ability to operate the different gear ratios the mid drive is much better. That's why $10,000+ ebikes all use mid drives.

    I’m just now attempting a conversion on my 2022 rockhopper expert and when I put the BBSHD into the bottom bracket the motor will not swivel forward hardly at all and hits the frame early. I noticed your bike with the bafang swiveled way forward. Did you have to modify your frame in any way to make that happen? With my motor hanging almost straight down I’m concerned about ground clearance. Thanks. Hope you are still enjoying your bike.

      I didn't have to modify anything. Your bottom bracket must be a different shape. Perhaps you can post and video and ask for help on RUclips or another forum.

    How do the electronics hold up to poor weather like rain and snow? Thinking about doing a similar conversion for commuting. I plan to use a cover to keep the weather off the bike when I park it.

      It'll be fine in a light sprinkle but I would not do anything more than that. None of the connections are truly waterproof. If the snow stays Frozen and doesn't start to melt you'll probably be fine

    • @jetguy1205
      @jetguy1205  4 дня назад

      Or if you take the time to truly waterproof everything I'm sure you'll be okay but that's a lot of work

    Any videos of people actually mountain biking on rugged trails with these DIY eMTBS?

      I mean I've done it but the ground clearance is not great for diy ebiked. And most of them are hardtails, including mine. I've gone down some pretty gnarly stuff on the north shore. I would recommend getting a frame and motor that's designed together if you're doing that

      I feel like most people (just of the videos I've watched, which isn't many) do this as a do it all bike: commuting, trails, etc.

    Did you use a 68-73mm kit for this bike for the BBSHD?

    • @jetguy1205
      @jetguy1205  Год назад

      Yes and I needed some spacers. You'll also definitely want to use the Luna chainring which is the chainring with the most possible offset to bring the front chainring as close to the centerline of the bike as possible

      @@jetguy1205Sounds good, I’m planning on picking up a Rockhopper 27.5 or 29 inch bike with the BBSHD kit. Would you say it would be a no headache installation?
