It wasn't just picking fights with animals. It was going up the chain, going from the smaller predator to the biggest. It started with the rattlesnake, then moved up to a wolf, then a bear, then finally humans.
I loved them showing this predator working his way up the chain. A scene with an invisible predator and cgi wolf was more riveting then all of shane blacks movie

Corey is right. Predators is criminally underrated. It not just a throwback, the movie, it was also a metaphor for hell because every character in the movie has sinned it’s pretty brilliant.
No it was awful. That isn't genius, its a generic rehashed plot for a throwaway movie designed to exploit nostalgia for a 30 year old movie. A shitty cash grab.
This was the original idea for the first Predator movie. The Billie character was supposed to win by going back to his native roots instead of military tactics. They cast Arnold to make it an action parody but people took it seriously and it became a cult classic.
Then Arnold did what Billie was supposed to do. It was his character that went primal, covered himself in mud, used fire, built traps and rediscovered the bow and arrow.
It made sense too. He couldn't rely on his technology because it was too inferior to the Predator's. He had to go caveman and hope his instincts would be sharper than his enemy's.
@@mangacomics1601 I don't and didn't see it as a parody. It was a typical testosterone fueled action film for its time *but* with a sci-fi backdrop allowing viewers to indulge in a fascinating *what if*

Only one thing is guaranteed: Prey will be 100% better than The Predator (2018), which is easily one of the worst blockbuster movies I’ve since in 30 years.
@@aaronjaggan Nah, Requiem was just a bad movie. Forgettable, didn’t do anything right-didn’t do anything. The Predator (2018) insulted your very intelligence. Everything from lines like “I’m a sniper, just get me in close” and “Did you see that?! It had an endoskeleton on the outside!” (It’s called an exoskeleton, Olivia Plays a Dumb Bitch in Everything Munn)…to saying that because a kid has autism he can understand alien language and technology…to making Iron Man Predator…The Predator 2018 is an actual affront to the franchise. And the franchise also sucks, so the fact that there is such a low bar and Shane Black chose to dig to the earth’s core rather than make even a somewhat acceptable finished product is bafflingly unforgivable. Whenever I’m having a bad day, I literally-four years later-still think of The Predator (2018) and think, “Well, at least I’m not THAT bad at something.”
Yeah but fugitive predator was cool they’re mistake was killing him they should’ve have fugitive help the loonies defeat the upgrade and it would’ve been epic movie
You mentioned how this Predator was a bully. I honestly think that this Predator was a juvenile Predator. He's smaller, leaner, willing to take a lot more risks than the previous, more "mature" Predators who were stronger, bulkier, more calculated. I think the fact that he went after the wolf, the snake, the bear are displays of how immature he may be. At first, I thought that he was practicing on the animals so he can fight the humans. But a bear is waaaay more dangerous than a human, shit, the bear did the most damage to him out of all the animals. So then I guessed that he's an immature teenage Predator who wants to kill almost anything just to add to his trophy belt. Plus, look at how the movie ended, a mature, more experienced Predator wouldn't have literally fallen for what this one did. So I think this was simply a teenage Predator.
I agree that Prey's predator is likely young, but killing the snake, wolf, etc. was not due to immaturity. It's the first hunt on Earth, so they were hunting up the food chain of predators. The snake was the first hunter to attack them, so they started there. Humans hunt with tools and cunning, so they were last.
no no... the stone axe did the most damage out of the animals, didnt you see them slicing and dicing pred flesh like melted butter? you might assume the natives already had pred tech in their stone tools if you had no idea what you were watching.
@@JINGWA64 I mean this isn't a upgraded predator lol. It's a regular predator with regular predator skin...why wouldn't a stone axe cut if thrown or swung hard enough?
@@daviddavidson1412 Because bullets barely hurt the other Predator's bare flesh. Danny Glover roasted a Predator with a 12 gauge at close range and he tanked it. Shotguns are WAAAAAAY more dangerous than a tiny stone axe wielded by a 90lbs teenage girl.

They did make one mistake in this movie. They implied that this is the Predator species' first time visiting Earth. That means no Predator movie set during the crusades, no predators hunting T-Rexes, no predators vs ninjas/pirates... They could've kept their options open.
@@similaritiesendhere I think the director made a correction to that. He said that they were referring to this specific Predator as being his first time on Earth, not the whole species. Like you said, maybe they understood a bit late the trap they threw themselves into and tried to fix it...somehow...
@@demetriskatsianis2396 I hope so because even the design of the predator and his tech implies that they're only around 200 years more advanced than us. If every predator came to Earth with around the tech level you could make the argument that they nerf themselves to make their hunts more challenging... but, this movie clearly shows them using light bending technology and laser cannons against bows and spears. Now it just looks like they're testing their highest level of tech against us and they just discovered faster than light travel before a few hundred years be we will. Our tech is actually advancing faster.
@@similaritiesendhere Not sure about that...I mean, with all those space ships been able to realise intergalactic trips? With all that stealth technology? Being able to land in different planets? Portable plasma casters for everyone? Do not know if humans would ever get near them...And, despite all that, they have preserved battle ethics and code of honour...The Predator creature concept is quite astonishing, I have to say!!
@@demetriskatsianis2396 The time span between humanity's first flight and landing on the moon was only about 66 years. In the old lore, I always viewed the hunters being sent to Earth as being juveniles going thru a coming of age ceremony compared to the Yautja's actual military prowess (rivaling the power of Engineers from the Alien universe). Now it looks like that their greatest weakness is creating a culture based on hunting instead of a culture based on all out war. When humans land on their planet, it'll be to exterminate a threat, not hunt for trophies. We'll probably have nastier weapons than them by that point.
I would love to see another film like this in feudal Japan! That sword fight in Predators was an excellent proof of concept. Imagine a scene where a guy goes to commit hara-kiri and the predator rips his head and spine from his body before he can lol.

Nobel warriors my ass, Special operatiors of his type are basically US trained assasins. Arnold making that quip about being a "rescue team" is how I guess he sleeps at night, but the kind of work we see him pull off in the first Predator is exactly what his team would have been doing for years.
I love how that Bear took him down and walked away then turned back like “oh you want more”. I like it so far. It’s a tie between Predators and Prey for the second best installment.
I think it's really important to point out that it wasn't just the idea she was a girl. It was either you were a hunter or a gatherer. Yes, most of the women were prepping at home but you come to see that their job is as critical. Naru was as healer and learned from staying home with not only the women but her elders on what to do. They don't talk about Naru's father and how he was a great hunter. So, it's like this: Prey isn't a movie that shows a girl wanting to be like the guys. It's about a girl trying to prove she can be a great HUNTER and the trials and tribulations she goes through to meet that goal. No one tells her she can't hunt because she's a girl, she has not proven to everyone that she can do it; she has the right idea but can't stick the landing. Also we see that when she does prove her worth no one stops her, maybe some of the guys do, but she fights tooth and nail.
It goes 200% against actual history, and she would have been cast out acting the way she did. Not mention, at her size, she wouldn't have survived any hunts against dangerous predators.
@@billywashere6965 it does not - there were women warriors and hunters in native American culture, all over the country. I'm native American, and have heard of some. Secondly, do you know what casting is? They picked someone attractive and fit to play the role. It's not that complicated. It's a movie, dude, not a historical recreation of an actual event.
Finally saw it! Wasn't expecting for Prey to have some heartfelt scenes. Especially Naru being granted the position of war chief. Her war cry during the climax as well.
This Predator's helmet was made from the skull of an alien he hunted, with the targeting system and thermal vision integrated. That's what the VFX team said. I assume it was reinforced.
I always wanted to see the story of how the elder predator in the 2nd movie received that colonial pistol. I kept imaging a pirate story with the predator as a stowaway.
Rafael Adolini was a pirate who's crew was attempting to commit mutiny. The Predator observed him defend himself and then joined the fight. Initially he attacked other pirates and even fought back to back with Adolini killing the mutineers. After it was done they faced each other and prepared for the final battle. However, a mutineer was hiding in the bush and shot Adolini fatally in the back. He was killed swiftly by the Predator. After, Adolini is dying on the ground and reaches out to the Predator handing him his pistol. He says "take it," then dies. The Predator then creates a grave for Adolini and buries him. As a final gesture of respect, the Predator removes a sword from his back and tosses it onto the grave, repeating back to Adolini, "take it."
Saw this last night, it was excellent. There was a real sense of the time period and culture, and I'm glad it was paced as it was, allowing the characters to breathe and the suspense to build.
💯...Predator... Predator 2... Alien versus Predator..... That's where it stopped for me... I'd like to see them do something different like going from planet to planet taking on different creatures...In predator versus aliens there were all types of various skulls in the background during the cleaning scene of one of the human skulls......... I think that would be pretty cool to see...
Watching this movie with my sister we both saw the buffalo scene and both of us immediately were like "oh no colonists" never once did we think it was the predator 😂😆

I’d want to see a predator fight during Ancient Rome maybe in the midst of a war with Carthage or germanic barbarians and maybe even see it get captured and end up in a small scale gladiator pit. You could also go Ancient Greece and have Theseus and the Minotaur be a misremembered version of a hero and a predator in a labyrinth.
There's a million places to go. The Mayans, Mongols, ancient Greeks, Zulu's. I think in some of the movies the predator should win which would make it scarier and more interesting.
As far as I've heard, the predators were trying to learn what was the main alpha animal on our planet. (I'm not saying multiple were in the movie, but they're testing us I'm sure)

I think this film captures a big fantasy/theme that's been present in most of the films. In most films there's a scene where a human has to go 1 on 1 with a predator and it feels primal. The human goes in unarmed or with some melee weapon. And its pretty clear Predators have hunted on Earth for a long time. And so this captures that what if fantasy of a predator vs a warrior or hunter in a history. Would love to see more predator films in other historical settings.
@@Devilsblood There isnt much more you can do with Predator its a simple idea and concept thats why only the first is awesome. All you can do with Predator is different areas and times to spice it up because the concept is to simple.
Not really man... it actually makes more sense to promote the concept now, make people become aware of it.. that there's a high-concept horror spec floating around out there that does some things differently and brings out a new kind of horror villain, can't stress that enough because that's what the fanbase is calling out for, myself included... we want something almost magnificent x horror.. a term that we don't even really associate with horror let alone a slasher. That can play into visuals, story, villain's capabilities, anything... but something that the genre has never really seen before. Something different, but something that was kind of under our noses in some sense as well. How do you write that? So... if the script is ever optioned or sells outright to a producer, studio, or network with no guarantee of it ever being produced... then the promoting stops.. because I would no longer own the IP, the physical script, the logline, outline, and the title. Why continue to promote a script you sold on social media. It may even be in the contract that all promotional material should be omitted or turned over to the buyer...
The movie was beautiful. Every movie has flaws. So we rate this a 8/10. Everyone keep sharing so the studios will make more to the story and possibly the movie you want! The more support the better the movies eventually will be. But if they stop making them then you’ll have nothing.
Lol no we should let movies like this die on the vine. This isn't art, it's crap designed to exploit nostalgia for a 35 year old movie. We should support quality movies with new ideas, not the 5th rehash of a 40 year old idea that was already done right the first time.
What a terrible advice. No, more support doesn't help the movies to become better. Good criticism is what helps movies to become better. If a director is subpar with his/her job and doesn't improve while receiving support from fans, then they will continue to create subpar films (ex: The Resident Evil movies).
I know I’ll get hate for this but I couldn't stand "Predators" because it felt like a fan fiction of some dude who's too obsessed over the original. I remember people leaving the theater when someone screamed "It's the same damn movie again!" There were too many "Remember this?" and "See? We did the thing!" moments. On the other hand I can easily enjoy Predator 2 because it was doing it’s own things, flaws and all.
To be fair, Predator 2 is sort of guilty of that repetition too. I remember when I first saw Predators, I too was disappointed in how it was a semi-remake of the original only with more of the creatures, but then I realized Predator 2 offers a lot of scenes that are just remakes of scenes from the original.
I remember Korey saying in his review of that movie that predators is pretty much if you took a B film gave it a really big budget and had it professionally acted
Predator 1subverts a traditional action movies Predator 2 subverts traditional cop movies Modern day predator films focus too much on the lore and ignores the popular genre crashing. A great modern day predator film could have a predator interrupting a superhero movie or a John Wick action movie.
Exactly. Ex fucking actly. I've been thinking this for the past 2 days rewatching the first two movies. It the same conversation the marvel movies did. Genre plus superhero equals a marvel movie. Predator and Predator 2 works for me the best, because of the incredible and believable Predator designs, with late Stan Winston in charge and the excellent performance by late Kevin Peter Hall. Nothing beats those designs and acting.
What I like most about this movie is how much sense it makes in the predator universe. Billy's reaction in the first movie and what he said indicated that his people were aware of this species for a long time. And now we see that play out.
I looked at it as this predator was a novice and was sent to learn how to be a proper predator there was so many scenes of him learning about how other animals hunt each other and then taking out the stronger ones to be the ultimate predator
I feel like the snake sensing him shows how he wasn't so good. He was fully invisible and I'm sure when a better hunter is invisible then nothing can detect it.
What I liked most about the movie is that the predator gets messed up by everyone and everything it fought and Nuru just finished him off. She did her part and learned but It wouldn't have been believable if the predator took everything down easily but lost to naru.
One thing I thought was weird was that his ability to heal himself was more advanced in this movie than the original lol In the original he has to sit down and hold the wound closed and spray shit on his leg to stop the bleeding and it's so painful he screams. In this one he just has some spray.
@@Aaron-kj8dv yea I noticed that too and just figured either it didn't heal besides that one time or was doing all the healing and stuff off screen. But if that was the case it would have been better to see.
The problem with the concept of Predators is that it tried to be different than the others by putting the protagonists on the Predator's home planet but the problem is when you do that, you take out the element of which Predator 1, Predator 2 and Prey had: Homefield advantage. The Predator is usually dropped off onto Earth and is a noob usually so this is his right of passage. but he doesnt know the terrain of Earth so he is out of is element despite his cloaking device, advanced weaponry, and supreme strength. I argued with some people who claimed Prey is "woke" because 'theres no way a 100lb female from the 1700s can beat a Predator" but they fail to understand: Arnie, Danny; neither of them beat the Predator on their strength or gender. They beat them using their mind and the fact they knew their environment better and being able to adapt better because of it; learning how the Predator behaves and uses its weapons and using it against them. So with Prey thats exactly what Naru (the girl) did. She's a tracker and she's a gathererer so she knew about the herbs so she knew to eat the plant to lower her body temperature just like Arnie figured out to cover himself with cold mud to lower his body temperature. She nearly got killed in the quicksand but used it later to her advantage to trap him.She failed and stumbled in her earlier efforts to try to master being a hunter, which is part of the heroes' journey, but she learned from those mistakes and used it to her advantage later. A Mary Sue would have had her killing that deer and those rabbits with ease and one punch KO'ing the fellow Commanche who was disrespecting her. A Mary Sue also wouldnt have run away when the Predator showed up and starting killing her friends in front of her. That was also another failure moment there for her but you need moments like that to show the heroes journey correctly. Now was she leaning a bit in the Mary Sue-ish territory at times? ..yeah" buyt only really that one time she ambushed the group of Frenchies that were about to kill her dog.. The stuff some people eye rolled about was less about her being a Mary Sue. but more about how on the nose the "message" was in terms of the tribe denying her desire to be a hunter because of traditional gender roles. Hell, I saw someone state that traditionally if a woman did that in a tribe like that she'd have been exiled from said tribe. But there werre some historical inconsistencies in this; even with the villianizaton characterization of the French fur trappers (who I actually looked up and surprisingly out of all the colonizers, they were the LEAST aggressive to natives; so much so that many intermarried with them). but I get it; its a movie so they need side villains. Though earlier, she nearly died at the hands of the French trappers but she used one of them as armed bait to lure the Predator in becuse she observed that it doesnt attack unarmed things it doesnt see as a threat. So again, I'll allow it because in her fuck ups, which were many, she learned her lessons later. She saw that her dog that tried to attack the Predator couldnt be killed with its arrows because the helmet was not on him and the arrows would only go to the target the helmets lights were pointing out. So she stole the helmet to also use against him later. She, Arnie, and Danny all beat their Predators using their brain and their surroundings to their advantage.
I've used rope-darts and throwing axes (I've actually made my own tomahawk) and I promise you - on the missing digit of my left ring finger - you can not make a tomahawk into a rope-dart without chopping off parts of your own body.
@@Sue_Me_Too you probably also know that this entire scenario is ridiculous as women didn't hunt. They would have been exiled from the village just for expressing the desire to do so. But I knew the IP would get Trashed as soon as Disney purchased 20th Century Fox.
@@Bobzilla67 I can get past THAT. It's canon that Predators don't really target women so it makes sense in a roundabout way for a woman to be able to kill one - it doesn't take her seriously and its own hubris is its downfall. I can tolerate more "wokism" than a lot of people as long as it's well integrated, but this movie was just clumsy.
@@Sue_Me_Too Also how did the predator NOT know his arrows only shot at what his helmet laser was pointing at. He only died because he was that stupid.
It feels like the toasted crew missed the first half of the "Bully" parts. In the snakes case, the snake ate a rat. In the Wolf's case, the predator saw the wolf chase a rabbit and got in the middle of it. In the bear's case, he was chasing Naru. In each instance, the Predator saw a predator hunting and challenged it on it's own hunting grounds. It was good scene writing in each instance. And as an aside, the Predator didn't cheat the bear out of a fight, he fought it bare (bear) handed and punched it head on to finish the fight.
I think it was good for a straight to streaming movie. You can tell they didn’t have a huge budget, but the director did the best he could. I do agree with some of Martin’s issues with the movie though.

What I love about “Prey” is that it’s themes are universal. Naru’s story is more than just a woman who wants to be a hunter. She’s someone who wants to be more than what her tribe expect her to be. She respects her traditions, but doesn’t want to be beholden to them. Her story is relatable because how many of us want to be more than what our families and society expect us to be? How many of us have had go against the norm to be who we truly want to be? I love the fact that Naru isn’t successful in the beginning, just like none of us are. But just like her we don’t give up on what is worth doing. We stand back up and try again. “Prey” is still a kick ass action film, don’t get me wrong, but the fact that they were able to subtly put in such a relatable message into a Predator film is amazing!
Exactly. I liked how she was a bit naive and had to learn along the way. Her journey mirrored the Predator. This movie was great because it was a complete film.
@@BAZ1500 Sorry, bro, but your anti-woke sentiment won’t work for “Prey”. Every skill Naru has is explained by being shown to us, and it even relates to the Predator. Prey is genius because the Predator and Naru’s stories are parallel to each other. Both are trying to prove something, not just to themselves, but also to their respective tribes. For any of us that follow Predator Lore we know that they are accepted into what is equivalent to a tribe only if they hunt a worthy warrior. The bear fight shows how the Predator, even though he has strength and tech on his side, is out of his element. The bear actually overpowers the Predator and there is even a moment where the bear stands on top of the Predator with the green glowing blood running through its mouth. The only reason the Predator is able to kill the bear is because the bear turns its back and gets cocky. Naru exploits the Predator being out of its element by studying it. It learn it patterns, how it uses its weapon, and how to use her skills as a hunter and gatherer to outsmart the Predator. It’s actually not such a far fetched idea that Naru could kill the Predator this way because that’s how Dutch did it in the original movie. When the Predator takes off all his weapons and fights Dutch, Dutch gets brutalized by the Predator. Only by outsmarting it does the Dutch kill the Predator. Naru does the same thing, but in her own way. But the fact that they are both after same thing shows the them of commonality even with rivals.

I like that you gave a shout to predators and how underrated it is, I definitely thought i was the only one, so glad you gave it some love as the second best predator movie
Yup. Adrien Brody did a great job. The only thing that pissed people off was the trailers that showed Brody being lit up by multiple infrared targets when in fact it was just one. Besides that, everything else was okay.
They apex predators were the "school bullies." For one, the snake went after him first. A poisonous snake at that. He pursued the wolf when it was going after the rabbit, Which he saw as an equal. He never once went after prey. Naru and the Grizzly: He saw a predator picking on the prey and took it down. He wasn't picking on animals.
I still say a better idea, with a name like PREY would be to make the Predator the main character and have him be weaken and stranded, no weapons, have him be the one being hunted through the movie.
@@dannyphantom2827 Yep, basically flipping the first movie's idea, the Predator or PREY in this case would be the "Dutch" of the film but he's still a Predator so he would survive, just like Dutch.
@@pheunithpsychic-watertype9881 Well, they could've used the setting in this very movie, even say that by the end of the film, the Predator escapes but he learns, through this experience that earth has formidable warriors. He goes back to his people and tell them this, this could've been the reason why they keep coming back to earth looking for a challenge. This premise has so much potential, instead it's just another #metoo garbage film.
Loved it. As far as a streaming original go, loved it. I actually think this should have been made and shown for the big screen. But I saw it twice already. Its not over the top like Predator 2 and seeing people of a different time mix with a alien space hunter is a great combination. Martin always sounds like he expects break-through in films. Sometimes a hamburger is just a hamburger and can be pretty good or great.
Solid 8/10. EASILY the best film we’ve gotten since the first Predator film and MAN I’m pumped that this franchise is finally getting a resurgence again. I will say the same thing everyone’s saying: Give me what I want and set the Predator lose in different periods of History. A film centered on a Predator in Feudal Japan would FUCKING ROCK.
I rewatched the first Predator movie and I was bored for most of it. At the time it was great, but Prey was fun. I loved that there wasn't any romance like in Predator 2.
I know you guys can't control what your guest stars do but... I'd love to see "other Corey" in the show for some of these new film interviews. He pops in every once in a blue. Great review and a great movie! Not better than the original but it's really good! A close second! And I liked Predator 2, a movie that was underrated! Great cinematographic, great music and great acting from the lead...I can't wait to watch it again!

@killinyadreamz the "mud" in the original movie was A LOT more realistic and believable in the context than this...A LOT (for various, evident, reasons) And BTW, suspension of disbelief and utter ridiculous non-credibility are 2 different things...even in sci-fi.
I can't wait to watch this movie tomorrow! From everything I am hearing it sounds like a blast. The first Predator film is one of my most re-watchable films I've seen so maybe Prey will give me that as well. Also also from the sounds of it, this movie is really shutting up the groups of people who before the movie were crapping on it because there's a woman in it and they thought because she's there is was going to be crap. Iykyk😏
@@KISS_MY_CONVERSE I do like the movie, think its got some problems but it's enjoyable. Little bit unrealistic that Danny was able to go toe to toe with the Predator but hey the whole Predator franchise is basically "person comes across Predator and is able to beat them no questions asked" so I can't really complain.
Saw it, loved it, wanna watch it again. My only critiques are, I wish the Trapper vs Predator fight was more violent, and the very very VERY end with the thing (those who’ve seen it know what I mean). Though that’s more of a nitpick.
This is the only sequel that has a similar dynamic to the first film. In the original there was a genre/tone/plot shift about midway through the movie. From a 80s action flick to a sci fi horror. From a movie about a rescue squad getting betrayed, to a movie about elite soldiers just trying to survive getting to an evacuation. Each thing could have been it own movie. This movie does that to a degree as well
Lol as a native american myself, this movie pissed me off haha I can't help but feel; like if she hadn't wanted to prove herself as good or better as the male hunters, she ended up getting half her tribe of hunters including her brother killed. But overall i accept it as a predator movie.
I was thinking that exact thing. People seem to forget the tribe is a Hunter Gatherer society and all those guys that were killed WERE the hunters. Naru's tribe is probably gonna starve to death beause now she's the only hunter.
The people that don't enjoy PREY are stuck in that WOKE state of mind. This movie was freaking awesome, I put it second behind the original on my Predator franchise chart. This woman is a warrior of a native tribe and has trained to hunt, she was always pushed to the side until this moment. Bottom line....NEVER UNDERESTIMATE someone's looks or size as a Warrior.☯️
Thank you!! This was just brilliantly don. They totally missed the freaking fact/point that she used her knowledge as a hunter against the predator instead of brute force. Never, not once did this movie say she was somehow physically more strong than the men or predator. She was just more smarter than their dumb ass, which is why she was the last one standing. Everybody else tried taking on the invisible monster like a moron. She ran, she hid, she planed and she conquered. I even kinda love how they did her fight with the boys. She kicked, she bites and she used her body weight to get the upper hand and exploited her environment pretty well. It was her intelligence and skill that won the day.
People are allowed to not enjoy disposable entertainment without it having anything to do with the Orwellian faux-woke fuckery cult. Prey is an artistically average film at best, and while I agree it's probably the second best Predator film, that's not really surprising given the low bar it had to reach.
There are a few corrections on this video. 1: the movie predators was not on the predators home world. 2: predators/ terminator/aliens are all set in the same world via the comics. 3: this is not the first time a predator has fought a woman. It has happened a few times in the comics. 4: the predators are not all bound to a honor code. There are predators that don’t care about it and have become outcast, they are called bad bloods. 5: the predators in the movies lose a lot because they are young hunters (unblooded), even the first predator movie was not a skilled hunter compared to the predators who are up in rank. There is a lot more and if anyone is interested you can read up about them in the novels and comics
It wasn't just picking fights with animals. It was going up the chain, going from the smaller predator to the biggest. It started with the rattlesnake, then moved up to a wolf, then a bear, then finally humans.
It shows a Hunters growth. This movie is created predators character development not only the main human character.
So it basically mirrors the human girls arc in the movie? I like it
Weird they didn't catch that. The film clearly shows the Predator targeting other predators. It doesn't strike randomly
I loved them showing this predator working his way up the chain. A scene with an invisible predator and cgi wolf was more riveting then all of shane blacks movie

Also a mature predator wouldn't have gotten got by the wolf.
That was a great way of showing he's vulnerable I think
I agree that Prey's predator is likely young, but killing the snake, wolf, etc. was not due to immaturity. It's the first hunt on Earth, so they were hunting up the food chain of predators. The snake was the first hunter to attack them, so they started there. Humans hunt with tools and cunning, so they were last.
no no... the stone axe did the most damage out of the animals, didnt you see them slicing and dicing pred flesh like melted butter? you might assume the natives already had pred tech in their stone tools if you had no idea what you were watching.

Dan Trachtenberg has proven to be a fantastic director.
I hope this film does well so he can make another one (he’s said he has ideas for more).

I always wanted to see the story of how the elder predator in the 2nd movie received that colonial pistol. I kept imaging a pirate story with the predator as a stowaway.
There was a comic that explained it. Long story short, a Predator teamed up with a dude to fight pirates
How the pistol got from the great plains in 1719 to a pirate ship would be a better story.

The human goes in unarmed or with some melee weapon. And its pretty clear Predators have hunted on Earth for a long time. And so this captures that what if fantasy of a predator vs a warrior or hunter in a history. Would love to see more predator films in other historical settings.

Why continue to promote a script you sold on social media. It may even be in the contract that
all promotional material should be omitted or turned over to the buyer...
I've always loved Predator 2. Danny Glover is an underrated legend. "Want some candy?" is scary.
The movie was beautiful. Every movie has flaws. So we rate this a 8/10. Everyone keep sharing so the studios will make more to the story and possibly the movie you want! The more support the better the movies eventually will be. But if they stop making them then you’ll have nothing.
Yea this should’ve been a theatrical release.
I remember people leaving the theater when someone screamed "It's the same damn movie again!" There were too many "Remember this?" and "See? We did the thing!" moments. On the other hand I can easily enjoy Predator 2 because it was doing it’s own things, flaws and all.
Never felt like watching that movie again, but Prey i know I'm watching it many times with many people just like the first two : D
I remember leaving the Theater thinking "This was just Predator 1 all over again."
I love predators
To be fair, Predator 2 is sort of guilty of that repetition too. I remember when I first saw Predators, I too was disappointed in how it was a semi-remake of the original only with more of the creatures, but then I realized Predator 2 offers a lot of scenes that are just remakes of scenes from the original.
I remember Korey saying in his review of that movie that predators is pretty much if you took a B film gave it a really big budget and had it professionally acted
*NARU* supposedly means *_"fight"_* in Comanche _(originally the character's name was Kee - meaning 'no')._
Here’s some trivia: Peter Cullen the voice of Optimus Prime also the voice of the predator.

Predator 1subverts a traditional action movies
Predator 2 subverts traditional cop movies
Modern day predator films focus too much on the lore and ignores the popular genre crashing.
Genre plus predator equals predator movies. Next one could have been predator subverts a spaghetti western
@@jalhankaster yeah totally, a predator western would be great. How about predator vs pirates. Really change the scenery and maybe even introduce some new technology/ aquatic predator variants.
“Interrupting a John Wick movie”
So a mob assassin is sent to dispose of a body in the woods until he realizes that something is after him.
@@fulcrum6760 I can see that. And slash or a variation of a mob hit where a snitch is hold up with federal agents in a cabin and they are dealing with a type of assault on precinct 13 situation. Allowing for the cliches of that genre plus good amount of cannon fodder
@@jalhankaster If it’s in the 30’s then it would be some Resident Evil 8 type stuff and makes it creepier.

The OG Predator film released the same exact day as my Birth. Down to the day. Best film.
THANK YOU. Predator 2 and Predators get a bad rap, both are solid flicks if you take them on their own terms.
For me, Predator, Predator 2, AvP, and Predators were my faves, but now Prey is in front.😀❤❤🏹🏹🏹
One thing I thought was weird was that his ability to heal himself was more advanced in this movie than the original lol
In the original he has to sit down and hold the wound closed and spray shit on his leg to stop the bleeding and it's so painful he screams. In this one he just has some spray.
@@Aaron-kj8dv yea I noticed that too and just figured either it didn't heal besides that one time or was doing all the healing and stuff off screen. But if that was the case it would have been better to see.
The problem with the concept of Predators is that it tried to be different than the others by putting the protagonists on the Predator's home planet but the problem is when you do that, you take out the element of which Predator 1, Predator 2 and Prey had:
Homefield advantage.
@Budgie Cat Well said.
That bear was handling the Predator until Pred said "enough of this shit!"
That bear is the cousin of the bear from revenant.
....they hard.

I think it was good for a straight to streaming movie. You can tell they didn’t have a huge budget, but the director did the best he could. I do agree with some of Martin’s issues with the movie though.
Wtf lol so weird I guess there are two people that think acting like it’s hot garbage like oh man he was working with what he had which is what? A good solid story good characters a coming of age story of Native American warrior? Yeah I know ugh what a recipe for disaster lol

“Prey” is still a kick ass action film, don’t get me wrong, but the fact that they were able to subtly put in such a relatable message into a Predator film is amazing!
well put!
Exactly. I liked how she was a bit naive and had to learn along the way. Her journey mirrored the Predator. This movie was great because it was a complete film.
Romantized bullshit. Pocahontas was a woke mary sue that fought like she was in a marvel movie. The Predator was cool.
"The action builds the character instead of doing it for thrills." Enough said!
I liked this movie a lot and it’s a absolute rewatch I like that they used a unique plant that came into play a few times in the movie I thought it cool

@@axelstone3131 I love how they teased with the mud the first time she drops in, almost dying... you'd think, ahhh so now she hides from his thermal view.. but no, the movie totally ignores that. Loved that tease !
As soon as they were complaining about the Indian guy being cold and she said don't warm him up I knew what it would be used for.
It was clever because I expected her to hide in the bog as a way of cooling her body but she used it as a weapon.
I have to question how recently Corey has seen Predators (the third one) because it is absolutely FULL of references and homages to the original. And i really like Predators. But it has a ton of references, more than any other sequel

This movie does that to a degree as well
Now I wanna see this movie just for the bear fight!!
it was NOT that good. just saw it and it looked cheap and fake af
Nah I think that's realistically how a Predator fighting a big ass grizzly would go down
It's probably the best scene in the movie, yeah...short but very brutal and effective...
In my opinion the best one sense the first one easily ranks number 2 for me !!!! Happy predator finally got the look it deserved story wise
Predator 1 2 and prey are the only predator movies I really like
The people that don't enjoy PREY are stuck in that WOKE state of mind.
Yeah but I've seen this before. Can they not be more creative?
